Hello, I am using a Minelab Excalibur with a 10 inch coil in this video although my White's Dual Field detector would have probably worked just as well here. The scoop is an "RTG" model.
All my current beach detectors are waterproof but in the old days I used detectors that only had waterproof coils. It's a bit risky when the tide is up but at low tide it is not usually a problem. Waterproof detectors can also be used in the rain and sometimes the beach is best to hunt when there is storm driven surf. Good luck!
