Love this band and like the comment above, I fell in love with them around the same time...they were my first concert EVER! Will love them always...they rock! Morten's voice has aged well and so has he =) all of them have done so well...it just sucks my country didn't appreciate them as much I did! God bless the USA but I still love my #1 band!
@NEXTLOVER -you just gotta be a hater, huh? Y'all's pathetic asses need to be found and shot on sight. There is nothing wrong with the lead, the dude looks like a living angel, just like MJ(michael jackson) was before age takes that away from you.
I really thought they were going to win the Best New Artist Grammy Award & Best Video of the Year on the American Music Awards in 1986. But no. I was so disappointed & felt sad for them. I remember feeling that the US did not recognize their talent. They did win six MTV music video awards for "Take On Me" & two for "The Sun Always Shines on T.V." but they didn't catch on here. Unfortunately, we, in the US, lost out on a-ha's exciting talent all these years. There are some of us who know that.
I remember falling in love with a-ha when I was 16 in '85 & enjoying Take On Me everytime I could. We didn't have cable so my sisters & I would stay up on Friday nights to watch a hour video show. I remember waiting to see them perform on the Grammy's in 1986 & being so happy for them. I was supposed to be getting ready for a date w/ my boyfriend & my sisters telling me to hurry. I told them he could wait. He did. They should have won many awards in US and we could have enjoyed their journey!!!
AFAIK, they've never had a female drummer. The audio on this clip is from a much later concert (in the notes above) -- the original Solid Gold audio track would have been lipsynced from the original single. So the drummer on this clip was a stand-in who could hold down the beat.
@hilljayne I didn't know it was Gina Schock (you can't exactly see her very well...) but I stand by the fact that the original Solid Gold clip would have been lipsynced to the original single. Gina didn't play drums on the single, so in essence she was hired to hold down the beat and give a-ha another promotional angle.
Love this!! I remember watching this in junior high and being really impressed that they had a female drummer as much as anything else (Damn, I feel old now). Awesome memories. Thanks for posting!!

@majorskyy Yeah, they lip synched and she didn't play on the record. She also appears in Feargal Sharkey's A Good Heart video but not on the record.
