  • hmmmm motorola dext or LG optimus silver?

  • Hi darren I just got this phone and I was wondering, how can i get phone service without being on 3g? when i'm on 3g it will randomly use up my data. I want to choose when i use 3g and still be able to call and text. Can you help me with this?

  • @Danno469 If you look under the settings and networks you should be able to turn off always on mobile data. I think it will be under mobile networks within wireless and networks. You can also download a widget that will turn off data connection. Just look in the market for SMODA or search for something like data widget.

  • did you load the browser? itd be good if you loaded facebook and see if it loaded the facebook apps (farmville, treasure isle, bejewled etc)

  • Dude, good review. Im due for a upgrade in about a month and i reckon im gnna go for this one. Could you upload a video showing the browser thoo? Thanks.

  • So i'm still deciding on to either get G1 or DEXT. Do both phones have like some way to turn the push, kinda like leave it so i'm able to get texts and such but turn off the internet/data roaming stuff like happenings all at once to save battery and money? Which ever phone between dext and g1 does that, i shall get.

  • Hi. You can turn off the data on both phones quite easily in the settings. As for which phone to get it depends. If you are into social networking then the Dext is made for that but the G1 is easier to mod (load custom ROM's) but is a bit dated now. Overall the Dext is a nicer looking phone but just a bit behind in updates (it's 1.5 whereas a lot of Android phones are 1.6 and most new ones come with 2.0) Better camera on Dext so that's always a plus. Good luck making a choice ;)

  • Ok thanks. I'll go for Dext, was my first choice anyway. I also wana go on Pay & go. So i dont need some sort of data plan to activate it. Cause i see it on sale on the orange website on pay as you go, so i just presumed that it won't need data plan to activate like the G1.

  • I just had a look and if you go for the Dolphin package you get free internet and free texts (depending how much you top up) so that's always an option. Plus the phone does have WiFi so you can always use that to update etc.

  • Ok thanks alot. That's basically all I needed to know, definatley getting DEXT now.

  • Nice one. Hope you enjoy. Need any help just ask ;)

  • alrite daz?

decent lookin fone but the camera/video lets it down big time.. also u should of included speed tests for goin online, does it have wifi?.. how quick do the apps load up?.. does it multi-task?.. also how does it compare to phones like the LG Renoir, sony eric w995, sony eric satio, samsung H1, samsung i8510 and the i8910?.. and do u kno what the iphones closet rival is?... sorry bout all the questions mate but am lookin 4a new fone and want to make the rite decision! cheers fella!

  • Hi. Cheers for the feedback. It's difficult when doing a review like this because I know a lot of people wanna compare with other phones but I don't get a chance to try them all out. But this is Wi-Fi enabled and has good speeds on 3G. It multi tasks and you can switch between running apps quite easily. Because of the Android operating system it is easy to manage the running apps by closing them manually and freeing up RAM. As for iPhone rivals look out for Motorola Milestone coming out soon.

  • Hi. Yes the on screen keyboard is available for all text input.

  • can you text with a touch screen keypad aswell as the qwerty one??
