@Wridde23 Warner owns the rights to that one, and they haven't said a word yet. They put ONE episode on a bonus disc with one of the Wonder woman sets a while back, but it was a limited time thing. At least with the Isis set we DID get the crossover episodes that guest starred Shazam.
hey guy, i realy dig this clip about the ark II thing, can you tell me where you got that dvd set of the show, i to use to watch a lot of that show when it was on tv back then. you are real cool
i'd grown up thinking filmmation was always cartoons like He-man and She-Ra and the real ghostbusters, i had no clue they did live action shows until about half a year ago i picked up a used copy of 'ark II the complete series' for 7 bucks at the local record store, which i was oohh cool a man and his kids with a monkey and it looks cheesy and it's cheap, i love cheesy sci fi, so i look it up online and just start learning.... it's amazing sometimes how a cheap dvd can get you even more hooked..
@RoadworkCallum45 It was ruined by a 15-second ad? That's kinda sad... Ads are a part of the site, as they are a part of many sites like this. It's what keeps it free for all of us. It's either ads, or have YouTube become a pay site...and I doubt ANY of us want that to happen.
Really interesting & cool stuff. I'm a retro sci-fi junkie and it's awesome you cover stuff like this. These are neat little shows and I love watching them. Didn't know that the Ghostbusters cartoon existed, though. I'll have to check that out.
However, if you ever talk about Star Trek again...the 'a' in Doohan is pronounced like an 'e' and the 'h' isn't very obvious. DOO-hen, not Doo-HAN. >.>
Rather then showing & discussing the packaging I would much rather see you give a more in depth breakdown of what the series is about so I know if it would be something I was interested in.
@Lfdjake91 Well, that isn't really my focus with these kinds of reviews. It's really just to show what's on the DVDs, a closer look at the packaging inside and out, that sort of thing. so people who ARE familiar with the shows can see if it's a decent release or not. That said, I might go more in depth with these ones at some point. They all warrant expansion, imo.
I remember seeing the old Ghost Busters cartoon, but I had no idea it was a live action show. I recall seeing the cartoon version & then the Real Ghostbusters cartoon, which was much better, came out and the original went away never to be seen again. BTW, the guys from the live action GB look like the guys from the show F Troop.
You have a great, very personable presence in your videos... but, could you PLEASE watch the discs you are reviewing? I can judge the packaging myself in the store... I want to know about the content ans special features before I buy. Otherwise, GOOD work, man!
Zaranyzerak, what do you think of Digital Copies? On Blu-Ray sets would you prefer to replace Digital Copies with DVDs. (ME personally doesnt benefit much. I mean watching a movie through an Ipod seriously.)
I know some people love them, but I personally have no use for Digital Copies. There's no way I would ever want, or have any need to watch a movie on a dinky little iPod screen. So honestly, I don;'t care one way or the other what happens to them. As long as they don't add any additional cost, I'm fine with them staying or going.
Have you ever seen a film called, "Silent running". Its one of the most underlooked science fiction films ever made. You've got to check it out, Zaranyzerak.
A long, long time ago. It's one I'd definitely like to see again. Did you know they actualy re-used some of the effects shots from Silent Running in the original Battlestar Galactica series? :)
Another great overlooked sci-fi gem is "Outland" with Sean Connery. High Noon in Space, with Peter Boyle as the baddie. Great stuff.
I didn't know the Battlestar Galagtica fact but i did see the film the for the first time at the Hyde park picture house, Leeds, UK
I actually saw the original 1972 (film roll over 30 years old) cut aswell which was good and couldn't believe the sort of effect on me. I actually prefer the idea driven likes of Silent running apposed to Star Wars.
Also I will be sure to check out Outland and high noon aswell
YOU ARE GOD!!! Your like the coolest person in the world and no im not a crazy wierdo bent on destruction. To me you would be the perfect president because of how you like almost everything i do(and i like Canada alot). I'm srry to ask but do you like Canadian bacon?
Lol! Why, thank you! And yes, I love all kinds of bacon (assuming you're talking about the food, not the John Candy movie - which amazingly enough, I still have yet to see!)
Well, given that I don't live in a box, and we probably get more American news than Canadian news up here, yes I knew all about it. Sorry, I don't talk politics.
Thanks for putting the video of this up. I actually tell ya that Space Academy actually came out on DVD before my 27th birthday. I may have been an 80s person, but still I actually like stuff from the other decades. I actually did research on some of Filmation's shows before I even got into this. I do have some other fun facts I bet you didn't know about some of the cast of Space Academy. I'll send ya a message. Anyway, keep it up with these great titles from BCI (R.I.P.).
Yeah, I'm much the same way. Even though I'm MOSTLY an 80's kid, I remember (and love) a lot of 70's (and 60's, since a lot of 670's shows were being repeated while I was growing up) stuff as well.
Hey Zaranyzerak, might be a pointless question but, what are some of the most POINTLESS double dips? (MINE: Kung Fu Hustle the Axe-Kickin Edition) What do you think of Digital Copies?
Awesome. Has every single special feature from the DVD releases, and is about as close to reference quality picture for Blu-ray as you're going to see to date.
I hate double-dips that include LESS than the previous edition, yet try to be passed off as better somehow. Such as Ferris Bueller's Day Off, the "Bueller Bueller Edition." It cut out the best feature of the original release - a commentary with legendary 80's teen comedy director John Hughes! So in that case I actually hunted down the old edition when I heard about it, and still have yet to buy the Bueller Bueller edition.
Actually the Bueller Bueller Edtion has more extras. And as far as what is has, its FAIR. I mean lets face it, it could have been worse. But I agree dropping the commentary from the former release is LAZINESS at best. At least record a brand new commentary.
Yeah, but the commentary was one of the BIG draws for me. John Hughes doesn't often do commentaries, so it's a real treat to finally hear his thoughts on one of hi movies. I'll get the other version at some point for the other extras as well, but I know a lot of fans were ticked about losing the commentary.
How bout H.R.Puffnstuff, Electrawoman and Dynagirl, The Buggaloos, Sigmund and the Seamonsters, Land of the Lost. I love those old Sid and Marty Croft shows!!
Sid and Marty Croft were great. I actually didn't watch a ton of their stuff growing up, though I do remember watching Land of the Lost fairly often. There's quite a lot of their shows on DVD now!
Hmmm...I've seen both, and can honestly say that they're nothing alike. Not to mention Space Camp came out about 10 years after Space Academy, so if one ripped off the other....yeah.
Gonna have to pick these up. We are close in age ZZ and I have fond memories of some of these shows. Do you know if Tarzan Lord of The Jungle is available? One of my fav cartoons in the 70's.
Nope, unfortunately the rights to the Tarzan series are held by the estate of Edgar Rice Burroughs, and they're just sitting on it at the moment. I really enjoyed that one too. It's apparently considered to be one of the most faithful adaptations of Tarzan!
god i remember that ghostbusters cartoon used to be on before school , i remember having an argument with my friends when i was like 6 at school that this wasn't ghostbusters lol
