I do not believe that they stepped out to threaten armed insurrection. So why are there parades with people waving rainbow colored flags, why are there are Fourth of July, Veteran, Memorial, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and other parades? Removal of guns isn't the only way to control people. Pooring the people is another way, that is being done methodically. The poorer people get, the more time they spend scrambling for basic food supplies and shelter. That way there are too busy trying to survive to either recognize or oppose regime change.

Wouldn't it require a full blown Amendment now to limit gun rights? Not likely to happen, in my opinion.
Neither the U.S. nor states can deny everyone to own or operate firearms.
However, it is constitutional to deny ownership or possession to anyone deemed to be incompetent, insane or a potential threat to others safety
The problem is very few states take these precautions. People are required to prove driving competency in every state. They should also be required to prove every year they are capable of handling firearms in a competent and sane manner that will not endanger the lives of others.
Well unfortunately it takes time for people to "wake up" from their slumber.
Don't worry though... The same thing will happen to Obama's supporters... Once he leaves office he'll have let down most of his supporters so they'll get loud and angry as well...

I do not believe that they stepped out to threaten armed insurrection. So why are there parades with people waving rainbow colored flags, why are there are Fourth of July, Veteran, Memorial, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and other parades? Answer that and that is why the Tea Party had this little get together. Its the same reason I have joined other organizations with similar thinking people.

I'm also a proponent of a very wide reading of all of the amendments. All of them. I'm not a cheerleader for anyone. Removal of guns isn't the only way to control people. Pooring the people is another way, that is being done methodically. The poorer people get, the more time they spend scrambling for basic food supplies and shelter. That way there are too busy trying to survive to either recognize or oppose regime change.

While I may lean primarily to the "right" on certain issues, I take a steadfast "left" stance on others. Unfortunately, partaking in any political machine is all about picking the lesser of two (or three, four...) evils.
The best thing Americans can do at this point is keep an open, respectful mind towards the thoughts and beliefs of others, in hopes of finding a solution to our problems.

First, the inalienable rights spelled out in the Heller decision by the Roberts Court did not provide for open carry. SCOTUS could have enumerated those rights in the decision, but deliberately chose not to do so. Therefore, I suspect you are conflating New Mexico Constitutional statute with the American Constitution as defined by the conservative Roberts Court.
I'm not sure how gun purchase stats impact Constitutional authority.

It is constitutional to deny ownership and possession by anyone proven to be incompetent and/or a potential danger to others. It is also constitutional to deny the possession and use of firearms in specific locations such as government buildings, bars, residential locations and other public places.
That is tested legal precedent.

Some more information: SCOTUS' 2008 Columbia v. Heller decision, according to the Washington Post, "for the first time expressly (extended) the Constitution's Second Amendment to private citizens."
I'm not a lawyer, but I believe this makes it much more difficult for Obama, or anyone, to 'take' guns from citizens. It's a landmark and quite explicit ruling.
Wouldn't it require a full blown Amendment now to limit gun rights? Not likely to happen, in my opinion.

Neither the U.S. nor states can deny everyone to own or operate firearms.
However, it is constitutional to deny ownership or possession to anyone deemed to be incompetent, insane or a potential threat to others safety
The problem is very few states take these precautions. People are required to prove driving competency in every state. They should also be required to prove every year they are capable of handling firearms in a competent and sane manner that will not endanger the lives of others.

No, Republicans and Democrats are not owned by the same special interests. They are owned by different special interests with a certain degree of overlap.
They also have different governing philosophies. Republicans believe what's good for the lobby groups is also good for the voters, and it's only a matter of convincing voters of this, while Democrats foolishly try to balance voter interests against lobby interests in an effort to keep just enough of their campaign money to win elections.
