most guys don't try and jump on days this big. must have been a crap swim bc you know the wind just keeps sucking the gear back off the water and hucking it another 500 yards. great footage. thx
talked with him about the bail, he said he angled his board into the wind (as he normally does) but it started blowing him downwind, actually pushing him off the wind,he would have hit the water doing 50 mph, which would have been really bad. Although it looks like there where people down wind, it was fully clear (being extreme eastern doug's beach). Dale is probably the best bump and jump sailor on earth, anyone saying that they would have done something differently should post their sailing.
Ya never know what's gonna happen with the Wind in Hood River! I went to watch Chapionship surfing two years in a row, and both were windless days. Surfer were happy to...they just went up to play on Mt Hood. Life is good in Oregon!

Normal guys would have come down again after 2 or 3 meters high.
But for him it starts from 2/3 meters :O!!!
He deserve a place in guiness book of records.

Bit off a little more than he could chew. He probably saw it was clear down wind to throw his rig away. That was a long ways down.
