"Sky City" from Flash Gordon and "City In The Clouds" from Star Wars look so similar, they could be the same model.

the rolling script at the beginning of the action films or the old school started with Flash Gordan from the late '30's.

those scrolling words came from the flash gordon serials originaly, afterwards every body used them

Star Wars and Indiana Jones were both actually tributes and big budget versions of these 50's serials. The titles of the Prequel series 'Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones' were also homages. To top it all, Revenge of the Sith had a 'Commander Cody' who is a direct tribute to this guy.
