I work for the railway that runs from London to Southend. One of our stations is Purfleet, where there used to be a big gunpowder store. Our line also goes to Shoeburyness, where there still is a weapons testing facility, and past Tilbury Fort, which was first built by Henry VIII and last used in the 1940s. It was also used as a POW camp after the 1745 Jacobite rebellion. Must be some songs out of that lot!
just today i bought restrung and played my first banjo and you sir have just cemented my resolve to play,,,this song Georgia railroad...the first time i ever heard it....
I reckon that banjos pushing 1880's G. Clifton Dobson was the Boston maker if I'm correct. Great playing as always Rich, this video found its way in to my favorites..
I will have to write 'the Purfleet Railroad'.

Great playing of a great song on a great banjo. Imagine if that instrument could talk....I mean talk, not sing....the stories it'd tell.
