@Malocosa i agree with you i think vincent was actually kinda like what smokey was able to do take the form of humans except the island does animals like the hurly bird kinda forshadowed he would be the one to protect the island as we noticed in the finale and kates horse, vincent was walts pet so maybe he did die on the crash but the island formed as vincent to keep an eye on jacobs chosen ones ya know.
I think Vincent is Smokey & I am sure he knows Jacob as he's always dashin off into the jungle & appears out of nowhere, mainly when bad things happens!!
