Most people are skeptic about this game because when they see MMO they want to socialize. Guess what? SWTOR gives you all of that and more. 90% of the map on any planet is dedicated to meeting new players, etc, confirmed on the SWTOR.COM forums.
When I saw the ending of this video with the "If you still think it's a solo game.... Well...", I mostly expected the scene to show up in which the sith says, "You were deceived.", but the grenade launcher thing made me laugh and I thank you for that. :)
This is an MMO: You can do whatever you want. In every single MMO you can play alone. In every single MMO you can play with friends. Everyone is acting like it's a brand new genre, but BioWare has said one thing about it: It's an MMO, it just has a strong story. It's the same kind of game as you know, Rift, EverQuest, etc,. it just has a strong focus on story.
I think its gonna be like all other MMO there just sayin that the game can be played alone and in group like every MMO. That does not mean its a singleplayer game
I hate the generic look and feel to it. I really did not like this game when I played it at PAX East. I'll definitely be passing this one up.
Don't get me wrong, I adore Star Wars, but this game is just really boring and it doesn't satisfy the Star Wars Universe like I had hoped for so much. What a shame. I'll go back to reading the books.
Good News is There will be! PVP includes: Duels, PVP Zones, & Faction PVP. Details on this aspect are trickling out, but these things have been confirmed so far, as aspects.
too jerky, the movement. too rigid. when a character stops moving for a sec... its like they are a cardboard cutout. Where is the life, the danger? I mean, really, dude at 1:35 is just gonna stand there, get shot, and blast away? The enemies are gonna just stand there, and die? mmos are all like this, and it needs to change. I want a game with NPC's with the quality of AI like we see in call of duty games... when you throw a frag at them, they high tail it outta there... and they hunt ya down!
@dorksied Pssh, this is old footage. Movement and art has vastly improved, though it's still not finished. Most enemies have some AI-- for example, range enemies will run and look for cover, but if you're looking for the AI of a single player game... You do know this is an MMO, right?

@best360gamer officially from Bioware its supposed to be spring 2011. Ive been hearing a lot on the SWTOR forums about Gameshit... i mean Gamestop spreading some BS about it not coming out until 2012. Even if Bioware told Gamestop the release date theres no way Gamestop would be able to say anything until Bioware said it officially. There will probably be a delay, but hell as Blizzard says "it's done when it's done", and i totally agree. Better late and AMAZING than on time and and only good.

Around the 3 minute mark they say "exploration". Sure, on the ground. BW doesn't care to give us that in space because they say space has already been explored. OK, so hasn't the ground been explored? And the other response to that "space has been explored comment is "NOT BY ME!".
You have no idea how comforting this is. I was fearing this lately but hearing all these diffrent creators say these thing makes me very happy. SW:TOR will rule all!!!!
I wanted SW:TOR to work, but something tells me that now it's going to fail. The game is only 6 months away, they haven't gone into any detail whatsoever on crafting, guilds, pvp, player economy, raiding, etc. Not to mention the stupid restrictions on stuff like lightsabers, appearance tabs, races.
I really hope Bioware get their act together and turn this into a decent game before they release it.

NO it's not a group based game dumb ass. I played in the "game testing /beta" i didn't have to group with anybody and they were people running around all over the place. These devs need to do a better job at explaining this because they are making themselves look stupid.

You can group up with people if you need a group, but it does not matter if you are grouped there will be people running around killing shit while you are doing your quests aswell. I game tested this game, and I found that this game is pretty much the same combat system of todays SWG, but the leveling is actually fun. Where as in swg I just wanted to afk it. So , why would I go back to a game like swg when TOR has the same thing + more? Kinda stupid right?
@Crystalballer274 There's no player cities for a start. it also has a levelling system instead of the SWG 'professions' boxes. It isn't a sandbox and does not have a 100% player-driven economy. That makes it completely different to SWG in my opinion.
@BFtheWave Let me correct you. You don't bring friends anywhere. You can INVITE them to your group. Let me give you a scenerio of what I experienced. I was doing my questing in TOR on hutta planet. I was near the Fathra faciility and could not finish a mission. I noticed some other player running around doing their quests and asked them to group up. SO we did and he helped me.
There is no bringing ppl, there are ppl in the world you meet while questing. IT is just like SWG or wow inthat regard

I know how the gameplay is and I know that it is an MMORPG. When I played this game it was fully open world players running around killing shit all around me while I leveled. No co-op or anything. Hell there was not ONE single loading screen.
It's a true MMO, don't delude yourself. You can play your entire personal story by yourself sure, but many quests and flashpoints will be denied you if you don't group up.
@TheBobandben Have fun with SWG, how many time do they have to show it is an MMORPG before you see it? Just because it can be ran single player doesn't mean it isn't an MMO. You'll get group rewards and the missions will be harder in a group to compensate. Not to mention loot is no longer going to be about who gets to it first, ninja looters, it is going to be fair for everyone in a group too. Grow a brain and quit crying.

sw:tor will most likely be a single player online game. Expect lots of instances. Yes it has dialogue. Expect mediocre pvp (certainly not the best you've ever experienced).

THERE IS NO BALANCE IN WOW... in cataclysm they're reducing the talent points to 31 and completely rewiring ALL classes talent trees because of this... how balanced is it when EVERY healing spec'd class can beat almost anyone when wearing even gear and skill.... thats not balanced at all my friends... cataclysm is COMPLETELY changing the game! the reason wow is so popular isn't because of the balance but because of the infinite progression... you CANNOT beat the game....

Stop banging on about WoW's graphics. The game has been in development since like 2001 and they've done very well to improve the graphics over the years without it effecting people on low end systems too much. Besides if you've actually played WoW past vanilla you will know some areas can be quite demanding on your PC.

I really believe this game is going to be special. I've been following it since 2007, and have been excited the entire time. Everytime they reveal something new, it makes me even that much more excited, the newest being Space Combat. All the nay-sayers that believe it's not going to be a true MMO I believe just don't want to accept that Biowares first foray into the MMO space is going to be truly epic.

I wanted SW:TOR to work, but something tells me that now it's going to fail. The game is only 6 months away, they haven't gone into any detail whatsoever on crafting, guilds, pvp, player economy, raiding, etc. Not to mention the stupid restrictions on stuff like lightsabers, appearance tabs, races.
I really hope Bioware get their act together and turn this into a decent game before they release it.

Yeah, i would say it honostly is a MMORPG, i dont know how anyone can really say it is all about solo and story. Its just an MMO with a decent story line :)

The people who want this game to fail, are the ones who have 25 above 75 characters on WoW, have been playing since 2002, and are scared...that this, a game that has SOOO much hype, and is STAR WARS with ONCE an MMORPG with a bigger following than their mmo, will have a shot at dethroning their game or have people move from WoW to TOR. Auction house means NO PLAYER DRIVEN ECONOMY.. I have a bad feeling that crafting in this game will be an insignificant addon as opposed to the SWG model.
If that is the case, this will just be world of starwarscraft.
I expect SANDBOX in an MMO. Not a linear group mission experience.

NO it's not a group based game dumb ass. I played in the "game testing /beta" i didn't have to group with anybody and they were people running around all over the place. These devs need to do a better job at explaining this because they are making themselves look stupid.

You can group up with people if you need a group, but it does not matter if you are grouped there will be people running around killing shit while you are doing your quests aswell. Just like wow or aion or war or any other themepark game. Take the word from somebody that actually played the shit

@TheBobandben I'm sure... I played SWG for years and I quit several months ago, probably about 6-7 ... I am never going back unless it is f2p. It's just not worth the money. I game tested this game, and I found that this game is pretty much the same combat system of todays SWG, but the leveling is actually fun. Where as in swg I just wanted to afk it. So , why would I go back to a game like swg when TOR has the same thing + more? Kinda stupid right?

@Crystalballer274 There's no player cities for a start. it also has a levelling system instead of the SWG 'professions' boxes. It isn't a sandbox and does not have a 100% player-driven economy. That makes it completely different to SWG in my opinion.

@BFtheWave Let me correct you. You don't bring friends anywhere. You can INVITE them to your group. Let me give you a scenerio of what I experienced. I was doing my questing in TOR on hutta planet. I was near the Fathra faciility and could not finish a mission. I noticed some other player running around doing their quests and asked them to group up. SO we did and he helped me.
There is no bringing ppl, there are ppl in the world you meet while questing. IT is just like SWG or wow inthat regard

I have leaked videos for this game I posted on leakerz, but took off my youtube channel out of concern for getting my TOR account banned. Looked it up on leakerz. I know how the gameplay is and I know that it is an MMORPG. When I played this game it was fully open world players running around killing shit all around me while I leveled. No co-op or anything. Hell there was not ONE single loading screen.

@TheBobandben Have fun with SWG, how many time do they have to show it is an MMORPG before you see it? Just because it can be ran single player doesn't mean it isn't an MMO. You'll get group rewards and the missions will be harder in a group to compensate. Not to mention loot is no longer going to be about who gets to it first, ninja looters, it is going to be fair for everyone in a group too. Grow a brain and quit crying.

sw:tor will most likely be a single player online game. Expect lots of instances. Yes it has dialogue. Expect mediocre pvp (certainly not the best you've ever experienced).

THERE IS NO BALANCE IN WOW... in cataclysm they're reducing the talent points to 31 and completely rewiring ALL classes talent trees because of this... how balanced is it when EVERY healing spec'd class can beat almost anyone when wearing even gear and skill.... thats not balanced at all my friends... cataclysm is COMPLETELY changing the game! the reason wow is so popular isn't because of the balance but because of the infinite progression... you CANNOT beat the game....

Age of Conan/Funcom did the same thing.
Look how sad that turned out to be, and it had everything a mmo could desire.
I just dont think it'll be a recipe for success unless its an open world type and not zones with "invisible walls". As to pvp, i sure hope they plan on "pvp servers" rather then just battlegrounds.

@zhijn what you mean is by "invisble walls" is that you want a sandbox MMO , sandbox MMO's are horrible they turn repetitive and you end up doing the same routine everyday ! like Darkfall, couldn't play it more then a month ! ... and obviously they main concern is questing but they announced space battles, battlegrounds , and obviously in terms of "pvp servers" it's gonna be like WoW , only in those cities that both factions make peace treath you will always engage enemy players anywhere

Stop banging on about WoW's graphics. The game has been in development since like 2001 and they've done very well to improve the graphics over the years without it effecting people on low end systems too much. Besides if you've actually played WoW past vanilla you will know some areas can be quite demanding on your PC.

I really believe this game is going to be special. I've been following it since 2007, and have been excited the entire time. Everytime they reveal something new, it makes me even that much more excited, the newest being Space Combat. All the nay-sayers that believe it's not going to be a true MMO I believe just don't want to accept that Biowares first foray into the MMO space is going to be truly epic.

@akshayk93 Jedi Can't block everything, it's based on your stats and gear. Believe me jedi cant stop sticky grenades, sleep darts, tazer shocks or flamethrowers. I know this just from watching many videos closely! it's actually funny seeing a jedi flail around when they get shocked by bounty hunter tazer haha

I play games for PvP because I am a competetive person, personally story in an MMO means NOTHING to me, Stories are for RPGs. If this game has fail PvP which so far will be jedi orientated I will not play it for long.
