@battler1111 no, the gas inside the mask is just to make her sleep, anesthesia. altho if the doctor kept her under for too long, it would eventually kill her but that would have taken alot longer. it is the stuff in the needle that was, essentially, "poison."
i had a rat, almost 3 years old :( it was getting blind on both eyes D: so we bought a time at a vet to but her to sleep. my other rat is almost 2 years and has very much energy...so before i went to school i left my thrashed t-shirt a little too close to the cage and my ray pulled it in and then when my blind rat took her normal walk around the cage she got stuck in it and...we think she strangled her self :´( but hopefully she got scared and died instantly anyway :( poor Sofy...R.I.P :(
@FreefallingIsMyHobby her arm is basically surrounded by several tumors. it looks like one huge tumor (or a large bicep to all those thinking of making that stupid joke) but i believe there were eight separate tumors just around her arm, and i don't know how many around both legs and abdomen. they were benign, but that didn't keep them from growing fast (from pea sized to what you see in two months).

Elise was a beautiful little angel. It's normal to think it's bad to put a pet you loved so much down, but you was actually doing her a favour, and I'm sure she's thankful for that because she's not suffering anymore, but she fought as hard as she could to be with you and she will always be with you. I know what it's like to lose a pet because I lost my rabbit Jasper in May. He was 6 years old and I'm just glad he didn't suffer before he died. He died naturally. <3
@MrRadaikon it depends on the vet office. i have seen a bell jar used (because my girl was simply that small and fit under it nicely). i have also seen the vet use a chamber similar to a nebulization chamber. but all methods were simply for the anesthesia. afterwards an injection was used to stop the bodily functions.
my rat Heidi is almost 3 years old now and over the past 2 weeks, she stopped running in her wheel and slept all day and all night...her breathing has gotten more rapid and at times is very labored...when you approach her cage she grinds her teeth :( I have only witnessed her drink from her water bottle about once every 3 days, and of the 4 ounces of food she had 2 weeks ago, only half of it remains..I have been researching at-home euthanasia with baking soda and vinegar but I can't do this :/
That's unfortunate. I'll unlikely not own a rat or other rodents. I've had to put two dogs down before, and it hurts, it really does. So I understand your sorrow. =(

@angelratgirl im so sorry for your loss and I fear my girl Cynder is going to face the same fate soon. I'm looking into surgrey but she's getting a bit older, although still energetic. I would never go to a vet who would not let me be apart of my pet's euthanization process and you're right about the needle thing. I've had to call in and specifically ask what their proceedure is and ask if they use gas.

I had 2 rats who also died from brain tumors i cryed when they left me i was so close i felt like i had someone to talk to someone that i could tell my secrets to and they would never tell them xxxx :( im sure everyones passed away rats were family i miss my rats so much but at least i know there in a better place now xxx <3 rest in peace my babies xxx <3 :D
between my 2 rats and taking in my friends 8 pregnant rats I ended up with a grand total of 46 rats. Unless you've owned a pet rat, you can't understand what wonderful companions they make. A small piece of me died with each of my babies. I couldn't take it anymore so I upgraded to cats and dogs...they live longer :)
The way I have mine done avoids the gas, I had one of my boys struggle against the gas so talked to the vet for an alternative. This is what I have done, it is another alternative but does take longer and is more expensive......Inject rat with ACP domitor to induce narcosis then once fully sedated and unconscious, administer an intracardiac injection of pentobarbitone. No struggles at all. I use this method now always and if a vet wont do it, I'll go find one that will. Sorry for your loss
I don't want to sound insensitive, but how much did this cost?
One of my ratties has a fast-growing mammary tumor, and I'm trying to find out how much it would be approximately to put her to sleep humanely, I'm not going anywhere near the heart-stick method, Izzy means too much to me.
@FrostKissed i honestly don't remember how much this particular one cost. i have had euthanizations cost as little as 20 and as much as... well, lets just say it went up from there. it is alright to do your homework ahead of time and ask around in preparation for when the time comes. it sounds morbid, but when you actually have to finally say "it is time," you will be glad you did.
Thanks you for posting this and taking the time to explain the proper procedure for people. I owned one very sweet rat and had to put her down about 2 weeks ago. I'm glad to know my vet did it the proper way as I've never owned a rat before. I had no question when I saw what he was doing. He was very gentle and she went peacefully without struggle. I just wish I could have kept her around longer :(
Bless it, and bless you for doing the right thing for your pet. I had to have my mouse put down because she lost function of her back legs. People say it's silly, but I didn't want her to suffer.
Although I raise these animals as feeders for my snakes, I can appreciate that they can be part of the family and create strong bonds with us. My feeder and breeders are all spoiled with the best accommodations and foods. When it's time, they get a quick knock out. Prekilled is better for both animals. Nice of you to make sure she got the best possible life and care, and I'm sorry for your loss.
My rat was euthanized at only 25 months with an overdose of that drug they use to let them sleep during surgery etc. She was just full of rapidly growing cancers. I think she had every cancer a rat could get, and multiple clusters per cancer. It was awful so we had her put away quickly, before her suffering would be too great (we tried prednisone first. But to no avail).
You see this video and have to look to the right side to see how cruel humans can be on the rest of these videos. Disguisting they should be ashamed of themselves.
And sorry for your loss, she looked happy as she went.
thank you for trying to educate people and to show them animals have feelings too. This is never an easy thing to watch or do, but its for the animal to not to die in fear and pain.
i am glad you chose to have her taken back home with you. i dont know about there, but here in the UK, in some vets, they throw the animals away, and have them burnt and nothing else. i wouldnt want that.
i lost my rat in 2009 i let her play in my room opened the door and forgot the to close then the next my freinds left open one door.I never saw her again. But now i have 2 rats.
Poor thing. We lost our little Zoe a little bit back. She was 3 and just got so sick. We couldn't take her to get euthanized, but we did our best to make her last hours as comfortable as we possibly could. She seemed to appreciate it
@thtsballs yes they were, and so were guillotines but i don't think you would have your parents heads chopped off when it was time for them to die. this was not a wild rat, this was a domesticated rat, and she was family.
@angelratgirl How right you are! It was a loved animal, so it deserved dignity in it's death. I am not a fan of rodents, and would never own one, but once an animal is treated as a pet, then it deserves respect.
@thtsballs your a fagit! your life is worth less then that rat, en als het je niet bevalt kan je men anus likken!
Respect all living things ;) And you show a lot of character if you are wiling to pay money to give this animal a worthy ending... who says this animal is less then a dog or a cat ;)
My Rat Is still alive after 6 years, she went 3 weeks without food and at the moment she is falling over when she walks. she is a joy and has never bitten me once in her 6 years, she learned how to walk on her back legs to come when called and to run in an agility course. she would swin and do anything i asked, rats are truely the best pet ever.
@TheBerryProjects bluntly, this is a video of the death of my beloved Elise whose time had come. i only did this to help others realize that they need to ask how their pet rat is going to be put down because many vets do not use anesthesia. i did not know this particular passing would take so long.
@RiotFalls elise had many tumors. too many to remove safely, especially at her age. also, in the week leading up to this, she stopped eating, drinking, or trying to do much of anything. it was obvious she was ready to go. at least to me it was.
Tears .......... and lots of them ...... I had rats over the years - one of the best little companions around .... Bless you both - people like yourselves restores my faith in mankind when I needed it the most
@angelratgirl life is way more precious than money, and i would pay anything for my animals. like my cat who passed last month, we spent hundreds on her to try and get her better, and to be honest, anything to pay is worth it, and especially that it helped her go that little further, and there was hope she could stay with us. sorry for the loss of your rat.
@ALAUpdator I've had it done too, though they didn't bother with anesthetic and I didn't realize they neglected it until just now. $90 for after-hours emergency care, too. You asked the question because you thought it wasn't worth it; rats cost about seven bucks at the pet store and are enormously abundant, not to mention being vermin. Why worry about it? There's 6,000,000,000 humans on this planet, they don't cost anything at all, and they're more dangerous and destructive. So... ^_^
Wow. I'm so sorry. My mouse, not a rat, has a large bump, as so on his side. My mom say's its a cist, and it's still alive, but Im worried for her. Also, those are huge tumors for a rat :(
@HelpfulTutor with this problem, i would recommend you book the mouse in at a vet just to check. you never know, if it is the worst thing, it could still maybe be sorted.. :)
aww im so sorry for her.. =[ but shes in a better place now and she will be waiting for you and the other rats to come visit her when ever its our turn to leave. (not meant in a bad btw its very had to word it properly)
This was sad but you're very responsible for doing this. It's hard to let pets go but sometimes we have to think about what is best for them rather than ourselves.
@ryomclane my cat was suffering from plenty of things, many i dont know, but there was too much for us to help her to survive. we were going to have her put down, but she seemed fine from medication we gave her, but sadly 2 days after we were going to have her put down, she became very weak and could not move by herself :'( it was upsetting, but for her sakes, she is in a better place now. <3
Thank you so much for posting this video. My girl is ready to go and we are so sad. She is only 2.5 but has respiratory illness. When she developed the tumor we decided to leave it alone until she couldn't enjoy life. Surgery would have been too risky for her lungs. It is so hard to face the end and at the same time I've been fretting that maybe we should have done it sooner. Your video reassures me on both counts. Thank you for sharing it, especially when it attracted so many nasty comments.
@angelratgirl please tell me how to get a rat to live that long, did you have another rat with her? my friend, who's mom died about a year and a half ago, we both decided to get a rat that we would raise together. id really love it if our rat could live a long time. we havent really decided on getting a rat yet, just because we heard that most of them dont live to see their second birthday?
@shiningstars1997 first, rats thrive in groups. if you can only do two, then do two. they are actually much easier to care for than a lone rat... usually. second, rats from pet stores are actually born in pet mills, bred for quantity, not quality of life. many will not live much past two. however they can live up to 5 years or more. good diet, regular exercise, vet trips, etc., help. i personally only adopt from rescues and shelters, and many will meet you halfway if distance is an issue.
this is horrible you coukd at least release it in the wild and let it live out its life. this makes me sad. the is a living animal you have no right to play god.
@autopilotx1 while i appreciate your sentiments, i would never abandon my rats to "live out their life" in the wild. that is worse than a death sentence. the human you have loved and loves you back suddenly dumps you outside in the cold, no food, no fresh water, no shelter, the constant threat of becoming a meal for another animal... no thank you. when i adopt my rats, i pledge to care for them until death. they are domesticated, not wild, and do not have wild rat instincts.
@angelratgirl That's right. You do the right thing. I wonder what that person does when his/her parents get old and sick.... ''oh let's just take a trip to the forest mom.....we can't give you medications and go around playing god now can we...''
@angelratgirl my sisters rat was going to have this but i did a news paper job and used some of my birthday money for the operation to remove the tumor and she made it but any way your rat is in heaven eating chesse and having fun with other rats Rip rat.
@autopilotx1 A sick, elderly pet should never be released into the wild. What a DISGUSTING suggestion. Letting a pet go peacefully, without stress and pain, is part of the deal when you decide to love them.
@autopilotx1 well it was sick and it was gunna die any way D: but they didnt want it to die alone i know it is sad it made me cry but its OKAY he will be in heaven and play with the fairys and things :D
@autopilotx1 Wow, this is nothing like playing God. Her pet had a tumor and was quite old. An albino rat would never survive in the wild anyways, every predator all around would spot it. Think about it.
We also had a number of rats who had inoperable tumors. They seemed to sap all of the energy out of them- their bodies were really thin, even with the huge tumors. It got to the point that the tumors got pretty gross and infected, but the rats still vibrated and bruxed in our hands, so we decided to keep them alive. It was hard for them to lose their mobility, especially for one in particular, but they still ate well and seemed happy. It's not pretty, but it's not too bad.
You should not have let the tumors grow so big! Although I am in favour of anasthesia before euthanesia, I am also in favour of chosing the rat moment for both once you decide not to operate on a tumor. 36 months is a long life for a rat, but Elise probably should have had 35.
@alwinevanaarle she made it quite clear that she did not want to go at 35. she enjoyed her time with me greatly. she still had a spark in her eye that burned brightly. she still enjoyed eating, she enjoyed the company of her cagemates, she even enjoyed showing me that she could get in and out of her hammock on her own even though i constantly tried to help her. she loved grooming her mates, and being groomed by them. she bruxed with happiness all the time. at least until that day.
@organicjuice why would we wear gloves. she was my pet rat, not a wild feral rat that we found in the back yard. she had no parasites, no skin conditions, just some tumors that grew much too fast.
I had to do this to my very first rat her name was twitch D: she didn't have a tumor but she was REALLY old and had horrible skin problems. Rip twitch you were a good friend.
We had to put my ferret down... I cried for almost 2 years! I loved him he was every thing to me i have him till he was 5.He had a mass(Tumor) In his stomach so it was hard for him to eat and he got really skinny and weak ...So we put him down :*(
@fategiver she actually hadn't been waiting a long time for me to help her cross. she was vital and alive and happy to greet the evening up until the day before. and she tried to refuse to let me help her do things. when i scratched her head for her, she gave me a look of "thank you but i can do it myself" even tho she couldn't.
@boscoblack "help her cross" refers to crossing over, a term that many people use to say that someone died. basically, they crossed over from this world into the next. not everyone believes that pets have any kind of afterlife, but i am one who does.
@angelratgirl you believe the rat somehow survived the death of it's own brain and now continues to exist in the afterlife? and how, exactly, do you come to a grand conclusion like that?
@boscoblack when a human dies, those who believe in an afterlife say that human continues to exist in that afterlife. your comment makes it sound like those humans survived the death of their brains, which is silly.
i am allowed to believe what i want and i will not apologize for it and will not change my mind because others try to bully me into not believing. i also will not try to force others to believe as i do. to you they die, to me, they live on in a different way.
@angelratgirl Well I am allowed to ask questions about what I want, and just because you are clearly offended doesn't mean I should stop. I was simply curious how you could come to the conclusion that a rat, or any animal for that matter, is able to exist outside of the material world. Maybe you know something I don't, some type of evidence that supports the afterlife. And no, my comment doesn't sound like that, yours does.I said nothing about believing people survive the death of their brain
@boscoblack how else was i to take it? "you believe the rat survived the death of its own brain and now continues to exist in an afterlife." if a human isn't required to survive the death of their brain to have an afterlife, then why would an animal? "and how do you come to a grand conclusion like that" makes it sound like i am being all high and mighty. i have my own proof which cannot be explained very easily. you want scientific proof, i cannot give it. if i am wrong, then so be it.
@angelratgirl if someone lives in the afterlife, that means they have survived the death of their brain. if they didn't survive, then they wouldn't have an after "life." so saying it isn't required is strange, don't you think? probably not, since I don't think you've agreed with anything i've said
Aw, poor rattie, her tumors were mahoossive. I'm having mine put down this week, because she has lung cancer that has spread all over. Her sister died a few months ago, not sure of what, she had tumors as well though. It's really sad, cos she's still quite lively, but we know that it's best to not let her suffer anymore, at least not as much as her sister did :(
It's good that you've put this video up though, merely for the fact that it educates people on what's best for their pet. Thank you.
I've had rats also and tumors and I know how fast tumors can grow. but this is just SICK. why did u let the tumor grow so HUGE before u let rat out of the sufforing?
@Hiirikettu she was never suffering. or at least she never let on that she was. before i decide to help any of my rats pass on, i make a note of the three things they enjoy doing the most. when they no longer enjoy any of them, that is when i know they are ready (and no, sleeping isn't allowed on the list). up until the day before, elise woke up happy and chipper, and after her breakfast, she would climb into the hammock (by herself) and brux and boggle for 15 min.
@Hiirikettu Why are you assuming they waited so long? My rat grew a tumour even larger than that in just THREE days. If you are not a scientist, then shut your judgmental mouth. Tumours cannot even feel pain, so you want to just kill everyone with a tumour?
@Hiirikettu I asked a breeder about when a rat needs to be euthanized and they told me that unless they stop eating, they're still having a quality life.
@AreYouBoredShow everyone faces the death of a loved pet differently. when my pet is leaving, i don't show my pain. i am positive and loving as if she were going to sleep for a little while. to me, it is more important that my girls not feel my sadness. i don't want them worrying about leaving me. i've cried before the trip to the vet, i've cried after the visit, but i have never cried during the final visit. it is simply who i am and doesn't change the fact that i miss her.
@angelratgirl that is sad but im glad she got a soft goodbye i had 2 hamsters and they died in my arms i just got a rat 3 days ago she is cool i hope you got another one
@abeblader i can point to plenty of other rat videos that have gotten far more likes than dislikes, many of them put on youtube before mine. it simply depends on what you expect to see, what kind of videos you are searching for.
Thank you for showing this video. Very touching, and yes, you did the right thing, comforting your rat in his last moments. and helping him to pass away.

between my 2 rats and taking in my friends 8 pregnant rats I ended up with a grand total of 46 rats.

You must be a good ratty owner... I personally know how hard it is to euthanize a little friend,. :(
naomiwiebe 4 months ago
I don't want to sound insensitive, but how much did this cost?
One of my ratties has a fast-growing mammary tumor, and I'm trying to find out how much it would be approximately to put her to sleep humanely, I'm not going anywhere near the heart-stick method, Izzy means too much to me.
So I'd appreciate if you could tell me!
And I'm sorry for your loss.
FrostKissed 4 months ago

RIP nameless rat :(

TheBerryProjects 5 months ago
@TheBerryProjects bluntly, this is a video of the death of my beloved Elise whose time had come. i only did this to help others realize that they need to ask how their pet rat is going to be put down because many vets do not use anesthesia. i did not know this particular passing would take so long.
angelratgirl 5 months ago 5
@angelratgirl what health problems did the rat have, or was it just problems with old age?
RiotFalls 4 months ago
@RiotFalls elise had many tumors. too many to remove safely, especially at her age. also, in the week leading up to this, she stopped eating, drinking, or trying to do much of anything. it was obvious she was ready to go. at least to me it was.

ALAUpdator 5 months ago 4
@ALAUpdator yes, an expense i am not ashamed to pay.
angelratgirl 5 months ago 17
@angelratgirl life is way more precious than money, and i would pay anything for my animals. like my cat who passed last month, we spent hundreds on her to try and get her better, and to be honest, anything to pay is worth it, and especially that it helped her go that little further, and there was hope she could stay with us. sorry for the loss of your rat.
Rebecca95x 4 months ago
@ALAUpdator I've had it done too, though they didn't bother with anesthetic and I didn't realize they neglected it until just now. $90 for after-hours emergency care, too. You asked the question because you thought it wasn't worth it; rats cost about seven bucks at the pet store and are enormously abundant, not to mention being vermin. Why worry about it? There's 6,000,000,000 humans on this planet, they don't cost anything at all, and they're more dangerous and destructive. So... ^_^

@ALAUpdator Rats have better personalities, too.

MissyDiggsOmniMedia 5 months ago
@angelratgirl please tell me how to get a rat to live that long, did you have another rat with her? my friend, who's mom died about a year and a half ago, we both decided to get a rat that we would raise together. id really love it if our rat could live a long time. we havent really decided on getting a rat yet, just because we heard that most of them dont live to see their second birthday?
shiningstars1997 6 months ago
@shiningstars1997 first, rats thrive in groups. if you can only do two, then do two. they are actually much easier to care for than a lone rat... usually. second, rats from pet stores are actually born in pet mills, bred for quantity, not quality of life. many will not live much past two. however they can live up to 5 years or more. good diet, regular exercise, vet trips, etc., help. i personally only adopt from rescues and shelters, and many will meet you halfway if distance is an issue.
angelratgirl 5 months ago
this is horrible you coukd at least release it in the wild and let it live out its life. this makes me sad. the is a living animal you have no right to play god.
autopilotx1 6 months ago
@autopilotx1 while i appreciate your sentiments, i would never abandon my rats to "live out their life" in the wild. that is worse than a death sentence. the human you have loved and loves you back suddenly dumps you outside in the cold, no food, no fresh water, no shelter, the constant threat of becoming a meal for another animal... no thank you. when i adopt my rats, i pledge to care for them until death. they are domesticated, not wild, and do not have wild rat instincts.
angelratgirl 6 months ago 63
@angelratgirl That's right. You do the right thing. I wonder what that person does when his/her parents get old and sick.... ''oh let's just take a trip to the forest mom.....we can't give you medications and go around playing god now can we...''

jonokiller 6 months ago
@autopilotx1 A sick, elderly pet should never be released into the wild. What a DISGUSTING suggestion. Letting a pet go peacefully, without stress and pain, is part of the deal when you decide to love them.

GiantPetRat 6 months ago
You should not have let the tumors grow so big! Although I am in favour of anasthesia before euthanesia, I am also in favour of chosing the rat moment for both once you decide not to operate on a tumor. 36 months is a long life for a rat, but Elise probably should have had 35.
alwinevanaarle 6 months ago 3
@alwinevanaarle she made it quite clear that she did not want to go at 35. she enjoyed her time with me greatly. she still had a spark in her eye that burned brightly. she still enjoyed eating, she enjoyed the company of her cagemates, she even enjoyed showing me that she could get in and out of her hammock on her own even though i constantly tried to help her. she loved grooming her mates, and being groomed by them. she bruxed with happiness all the time. at least until that day.

fategiver 8 months ago
@fategiver she actually hadn't been waiting a long time for me to help her cross. she was vital and alive and happy to greet the evening up until the day before. and she tried to refuse to let me help her do things. when i scratched her head for her, she gave me a look of "thank you but i can do it myself" even tho she couldn't.
angelratgirl 8 months ago
@angelratgirl help her cross? what exactly do you mean by that?
boscoblack 7 months ago
@boscoblack "help her cross" refers to crossing over, a term that many people use to say that someone died. basically, they crossed over from this world into the next. not everyone believes that pets have any kind of afterlife, but i am one who does.
angelratgirl 7 months ago
@angelratgirl you believe the rat somehow survived the death of it's own brain and now continues to exist in the afterlife? and how, exactly, do you come to a grand conclusion like that?
boscoblack 7 months ago
@boscoblack when a human dies, those who believe in an afterlife say that human continues to exist in that afterlife. your comment makes it sound like those humans survived the death of their brains, which is silly.
i am allowed to believe what i want and i will not apologize for it and will not change my mind because others try to bully me into not believing. i also will not try to force others to believe as i do. to you they die, to me, they live on in a different way.
angelratgirl 6 months ago
@angelratgirl Well I am allowed to ask questions about what I want, and just because you are clearly offended doesn't mean I should stop. I was simply curious how you could come to the conclusion that a rat, or any animal for that matter, is able to exist outside of the material world. Maybe you know something I don't, some type of evidence that supports the afterlife. And no, my comment doesn't sound like that, yours does.I said nothing about believing people survive the death of their brain
boscoblack 6 months ago
@boscoblack how else was i to take it? "you believe the rat survived the death of its own brain and now continues to exist in an afterlife." if a human isn't required to survive the death of their brain to have an afterlife, then why would an animal? "and how do you come to a grand conclusion like that" makes it sound like i am being all high and mighty. i have my own proof which cannot be explained very easily. you want scientific proof, i cannot give it. if i am wrong, then so be it.
angelratgirl 6 months ago
@angelratgirl if someone lives in the afterlife, that means they have survived the death of their brain. if they didn't survive, then they wouldn't have an after "life." so saying it isn't required is strange, don't you think? probably not, since I don't think you've agreed with anything i've said
boscoblack 6 months ago
Aw, poor rattie, her tumors were mahoossive. I'm having mine put down this week, because she has lung cancer that has spread all over. Her sister died a few months ago, not sure of what, she had tumors as well though. It's really sad, cos she's still quite lively, but we know that it's best to not let her suffer anymore, at least not as much as her sister did :(
It's good that you've put this video up though, merely for the fact that it educates people on what's best for their pet. Thank you.
ChesterGreeklish 8 months ago
I've had rats also and tumors and I know how fast tumors can grow. but this is just SICK. why did u let the tumor grow so HUGE before u let rat out of the sufforing?
Hiirikettu 8 months ago
@Hiirikettu she was never suffering. or at least she never let on that she was. before i decide to help any of my rats pass on, i make a note of the three things they enjoy doing the most. when they no longer enjoy any of them, that is when i know they are ready (and no, sleeping isn't allowed on the list). up until the day before, elise woke up happy and chipper, and after her breakfast, she would climb into the hammock (by herself) and brux and boggle for 15 min.
angelratgirl 8 months ago
@Hiirikettu Why are you assuming they waited so long? My rat grew a tumour even larger than that in just THREE days. If you are not a scientist, then shut your judgmental mouth. Tumours cannot even feel pain, so you want to just kill everyone with a tumour?
thesmnewstead 7 months ago
@Hiirikettu I asked a breeder about when a rat needs to be euthanized and they told me that unless they stop eating, they're still having a quality life.

AreYouBoredShow 8 months ago
@AreYouBoredShow everyone faces the death of a loved pet differently. when my pet is leaving, i don't show my pain. i am positive and loving as if she were going to sleep for a little while. to me, it is more important that my girls not feel my sadness. i don't want them worrying about leaving me. i've cried before the trip to the vet, i've cried after the visit, but i have never cried during the final visit. it is simply who i am and doesn't change the fact that i miss her.
