  • Nice media coverage here.

  • @arrogancy Thank you! Still shocks me to watch this!

  • Give me a release date and I'll buy it for PC!

  • @Xenophon821 No release date yet, but it is coming to the PC via Steam!

  • I am soooo jealous. This kind of coverage is unheard of for indie games. Well Done!

  • Hey Matthew - great to see your game getting mainstream TV coverage!

  • thank you Conor! What are you working on now? You had more than a few projects I was more than interested in!

  • "It all started with the classics, like Super Mario, Pacman and Space Invaders"

    *HURF*

Oh god, that writing almost gave me a hernia. D:

  • I think you are just poking fun, but Ryan Pierce actually really knows his games. Had he not "found" us, we would never have got TV coverage. Think about how often mainstream (non-gaming) media covers games. Never, or when they do it's negative. So props to Mr. Pierce for breaking it down to the non-gaming audience.

  • And he (Ryan Pierce) actually caught on to the trend that we are going back to our roots before we realized that's what we are doing. We just do what we like, but he made the connection that our games are back to the local-multiplayer cooperative style we enjoyed as kids! Contra would have been a great example to use, as well!

  • oosh... congrats guys, this is awesome - you came off really well in the interview too!

  • Wow, thank you! Nice to hear!!

  • Awesome news clip!

  • thank you! :)

  • Congradulations! Good luck on your future games.

  • Thank you!!

  • Congrats. That's huge!!! I of course can't wait to play the game, but you guys get mad props for placing 7th worldwide and getting a spot on the news. I'm certain that this is the beginning of brand new high quality studio that you guys will be proud of.

  • 9 thumbs up for marketing effort making it onto TV :) It was a fairly lengthy appearance aswel which was nice, not just a 3-second mention!

  • thanks! it was nerve racking! but i'm accepting that we are new at this. ...and imphenzia music made it on tv, too, must be cool for you to hear!

  • You handled it very well I thought :) Yeah, it was really cool to hear it in the background. I am truly excited about the game and soundtrack launch!

  • Congrats guys, I have seen your game grow on the forums and I really wish you guys the best of luck. Keep the classic style alive.

  • Thank you PixelOutlaw! And thanks to you and all the Shmup Forums (system11) members for helping us bounce our ideas off of you. It's been very helpful, even just to confirm we are heading along the right path.

  • Wow very nice I'm happy for you guys (and for any endorsement of retro gaming) The fact the you are just two guys making a Xbox 360 game makes for a really good story. With any luck this will help sales when ZF is released

  • Thanks! Hopefully DZF will be just one of many retro style games we bring back to the masses!

  • You should play up the twins aspect more, that might even get you more publicity ;)

  • we've been told this before!

  • I noticed that the report didn't say anything about the name of your game or the name of your company. Was that a requirement for the report? When they flashed your names up, they didn't put the company name in even though the anchor said your new company.

  • This news story was definitely about the people behind the game, and not the company. Even if it were about the company, the reality is that it's just two guys behind the name. So it's about the people either way. And this is what they focuses on.

  • Name of the game mentioned at 1:24 actually.

  • Not sure how I missed the game name, I must have watched the video 3-4 times before I made my comment.

  • i could see how you missed it. the name was never displayed at the bottom of the screen or anything like that, and only mentioned once.

  • Amazing how much attention Duality has already generated being an Xbox Indy game that hasn't even been released yet! Bring it on guys......

  • It's starting to shock me how much publicity we have obtained from our game... This is the power of being an indie developer, not only do we not have to pretend to be a "big" company, it's actually cooler if we don't. we can act exactly as we are, just two game fans making a game they want to play, and the story is fascinating to some. no boring big business drama.

  • good interview, good game... now, all we need is for you to finish the polishing phase and get the things going (release it!).... i still have those 400 MSPs waiting for your game.

  • That is some seriously awesome coverage guys, good job :) Seriously, getting television coverage on any game, let alone an indie title, is an incredible honor.

  • Thank you, Dean! That's a compliment coming from the Dream Build Play 2009 winner, too! Wow! I have to thank Ryan Pierce for picking up our game story and getting it on TV.

  • Did you ever think that you'd ever use your HD capture card for something like this? :)

    Anyways this is great.

  • no, never thought that! lol turns out we didn't have to, as we borrowed a DVD recorder that did the job perfectly! but funny that you mentioned it as we would have used it by i don't have cable at my home to feed the computer!

  • nice

  • "gaming dreams" it shows... love that!!!

  • Wow! That's great how you made it onto the (national?) news. That'll definitely help you with the sales of the game. :)

I will definitely have to think about getting it. ;)

  • Thanks AM! I'm not sure how far it reached but it was 3 or 4 provinces at least, pretty cool. Wow I was nervous, though, watching this again... !

  • Congrats guys. I've been following this for a long time and I'm excited for it to come out! Good luck on all the finishing touches. I don't mind the wait if you way it's worth it!

  • Cool, looking forward to a release!

  • finally, the game is coming out, i can't wait anymore!

  • Really crazy seeing this on the news but yeah i agree with XboxHornet youve been on the news and DBP is over youve gotta be close to a release

  • I am now starting to understand the path the id Software took when they finally started saying, "It will be done when it's done". What sounded arrogant to me at first now sounds completely different. They just want to release a polished product, one that gamers will love. And it's hard to judge when that time will be months in advance. So apologies for the delay, but trust us, the delays are worthwhile.

  • "It will be done when it's done". Just tell us it won't take as long as Rage has (I kid). I can deal with that. Considering that just two dudes are making Duality ZF!!! That seems pretty understandable. By the way I read Masters of Doom by David Kushner, fairly recently, about id Software. It's a good read (if you have not read it before). I remember the "It will be done when it's done" LOL PS: Taking the time to make a good game sounds good to me. DZF keeps looking better & better.

  • Thank you for understanding! It may also be easy to respect the time it has taken us by realizing we are not working 100% full time on this game. We have side projects that creep up and steal time away every now and again, and they add up. I highly recommend Masters of Doom as well. We (brothers) relate to almost everything in that book.

  • come on guys, release it already

  • No offense but we didn't choose for the news to pick us up, and the fact that they did doesn't change our progress in the game, it actually slows it down. It means we have to take time for the interview, time to post the videos, time to update the blogs, time to worry about how it's all coming off (as we mature we won't waste time on that one anymore).

  • Sorry the above (below?) comment sounds harsh, the one that starts off "no offense..." but it was a split comment (read the one above it to continue on the point!) lol

  • And we appreciate the interest!!!

  • I hope what I've written doesn't come of sounding poorly. Another thing I realize (comparing myself to the tiny id Software company when it was small) is why they have a business/marketing position. Being only a two man team, as soon as anything business or marketing related comes along, which is often, half our team is gone!! I just hope you all have patience to wait for a better product. That is all I can ask of you!

  • Ill buy this at 400. I cannot wait.

  • Nice work fellas! Looks great.

But what's up with the office--no posters on the walls? It's looks like a sanitarium with computers! hehe...

  • ha ha nathan! someone just made a face at me today when i told her that we hadn't decorated for the interview (she worked right next to us and saw our bland office)! lol! i don't know how you stay so relaxed and calm in your interviews, but i respect that skill so much more now that i've been put to the test!

  • Congrats! This is so cool! You sound like me: I've been trying hard to make my games free too, but in order to deliver high quality, it's just too difficult when you're starting out. Hopefully in the future you guys and myself can start delivering games on both ends of the financial spectrum.

OMG Guys! I'm so pumped for you and this game! I'm such a manic shooter nut. Keep the games coming!

  • i really wasn't being clear with my point, and i don't think all gamers want everything for nothing, but they do want the full game experience for nothing (no hooks) and you need hooks to sell. this was hard for us to accept, as we want to be true to the gamers, and not hook them on something they'll regret later on. so funny how it's always the bad games that don't care about doing this, and the good ones (the ones that should have the hooks) that think about not doing it!

  • Wooow!!! This is really great guys, you were able tp pass on CBC, its seems the marketing for Duality ZF is on a roll ;-).

  • thank you! you got to see this before i was ready to showcase it. the youtube uploaded dropped all my settings and didn't save them ("private" wasn't saved). but glad to see the video came out looking great (quality wise). i actually could not view it (missing codec?) on my computer, so it was sheer hope that youtube could read it after an hours uploading!

  • Epic.

  • THANK YOU!
