Dexter stopped being quirky and awkward, i don't think I even cracked a smile the entire season. Remember all the fantastic charming LOL moments with Doakes, or when he imagined Deb finding out, or when Rita was crying during the romantic movie and he just stared at her really awkwardly b/c he didn't know what do to....etc

Don't get me wrong, the first 2 seasons were epic. But as I've been watching this show from 1 to 6, I've been watching Dexter morph from a emotionally-empty vessel with an intense hunger to kill into a more human, compassionate, and dedicated father and guardian to his family. I personally found his journey to becoming human again very entertaining. I do wish Doakes never died though, he really helped solidify the show.

I never said he was truly human, I said he was becoming more human. If you read thebooks and pay attention to the series, you can notice the distinct transformation from monster to more-human-monster. He used to see Rita+kids as a cover to make him appear normal. He even preferred Rita's lack of interest in sex. Throughout the series, you see that change. Also, in season 6 he does attempt to rid himself of the "dark passenger."

I think Deb is definitely not going to turn Dexter in. She loves him way too much, and her father (Dexter will tell her Harry approved). But she's going to be destroyed by it. She actually IS the super cop she THINKS her father was but he really wasn't. What she'll do is demand that Dexter stop, and for some time Dexter has talked about his desire to stop. So he'll try, but he'll fail, and then Deb will move away forever because she can't take the daily stress of knowing and allowing it.

In the first novel she finds out in that he is a serial killer. The ice truck killer his brother is his twin, they manage to get a video of him placing the body in the ice rink like in season one except in the show he has a hostage do it. Deb sees the video and brings Dex to explain himself. He tells her about his brother and him ,but shortly after she is taken, Dex kills his brother in front of deb saving her. She decides based on their relationship and his saving her life to keep his secret.
