You're watching them out of order, that's what's happening.

Also, this was very early on, when I wanted to get my VR as low as possible, then raise it up to see what happens.

"Ben" was probably told to stay in front of the finish line, as Guests have no VR and can screw up everybody else if they finish first, or at least told not to finish ahead of the non-Guest. That's my guess.

Anywho, Grumble Volcano is definitely one of the lesser chosen tracks online. I like it though, and in my opinion, it belongs in the Special Cup, but I suppose since Bowser's Castle is more demanding, they could only choose the most difficult of the two lava levels.

Mr. Jefferson did some mighty fine choosing! Both of his selections were picked!

Mr. Jefferson does not. DJ Smizzles must have come around during a later time period.

From what I've noticed, all of the last tracks in each cup are harder than the first track on the next one. I think the game wants to go easy on you for you to get adjusted first, then cranks up the difficulty toward the end.

I mean...in Mario Kart 64's context, Toad's Factory would be in the Special Cup due to the high amount of hazards and how the very landscape slowly shifts.

I think it's because he was a guest and chose to not take the victory. If he didn't want it, Mr. Jefferson will have it.

That bring said, dj smizzle was probably at his most frustrated, having lost to someone who died a hundred years before automobiles became popular.
