Let me get this straight: the Generald Hammond, a 304 battlecruiser, one of the series of ships that can take down Ori Motherships AND Wraith Hiveships, with powerfull beam weapons, shielding and all those cool Asgard things... is loosing against 3 Lucian Alliance Ha'taks? Ha'taks?! The weakest of the ships in the Stargateverse?
No amount of upgrades (unless they are of replicator origin) can possibly explain this. No wonder SGU didnt last long...
Lucian noobs almost take down the asgard enhanced earth battleship. I knew then this show would fail. At this point (in SGA SG1 story) we rule the milkyway with all asgard tech available and most ancient stuff.
You should really go watch SGA. McKay and Beckett are great. The story is great too. Its all about discovering Ancient tech and trying to power it. In the few occasions they manage to power Atlantis the show is at his best. Also every SG1 main character shows up once or more. Too bad SGA ended at its best. :(
Personally I think the whole Ori story wasnt as good as the Goa'uld story but thats probably because O'Neill is gone then.
@Superiorer I agree with the Ori part... It wasn't as good as the others - I just thought their strength was too unfair. xP .. I did like it, though, and Mitchell. (But O'Neill was the best...) And Baal, oh he was my favourite villain there!
Maybe I could give SGA a shot sometimes, since they were quite connected with SG1 in several episodes. Maybe. =)

I thought SGA was pretty boring and derivative actually.It's basically SG-1 plots reheated and served with different actors, half of whom are incredibly annoying.
I always thought it was "interesting" that the whole time she's giving her report, she calls him "General" when she first sees him, and then she never calls him "sir" or anything else.

O'Neill and Teal'c would be handling their business and shit would get done.

@iampotts02 The reason why SGU was cancelled is that sci-fi shows don't sell good but things like ghost hunters and wrestling do. that's why syfy kicked the show into the trashcan.

I was more hurt when he left the show. I stopped watching after that (and to be honest, the show was already beginning to go downhill with season 8 *the writing never was the strong point of SG but it gradually went worse*).
I just began to watch fully SGU right after the Atlantis crossover episode with Dr Mckay and Mr Woolsey...and a hint of the word SHEPPARD spoken by COL Young to Mckay....only then i felt the 'presence' of the old stargate episode creeping back....
soo what the happend with the asgard weapons now after atlantis we dont have them they just dissapired these shtits so called weapons aren nearly as good as the asgard weapons

I've got an idea. The SyFY channel should have two 12 hour segments. One 12hr segment should have all of the highest rated content including the more serious sci-fi drama shows like the cancelled "Caprica" and "Stargate Universe"! This should air around the primetime hours.
As for the other 12hrs, there should be nothing. Just blank or that rainbow thing you get when there's no content. Save the cash for real sci-fi and stop cancelling great shows!

@angrystargateguy Why? Because he chose to be in and support a series that he cares about? Just because you don't like it or don't see it as Stargate doesn't mean RDA has to follow your order or only your opinions count. He can appear in whatever he wants to, and if he is asked to help bring in a new series like he did for Atlantis, then he has every right to do that as the guy who's been there since the beginning. Besides, he's hardly the only Stargate actor to make appearances on here.
I rather enjoy SGU... More for the sense of anticipation. Not whether the'll find their way home, but more the anticipation of when is the story line just going to completely fall off a cliff.
Several characters have already fallen apart. Plot lines manage to get worse every episode. I'm really excited to see if the crew can survive to season 3.

SGU is dark, dull & boring. The premise is Voyager. The look is BSG.
Stargate had its own style. It didn't copy other sci-fi. It was unlike any other sci-fi ever put on tv. Now it's 'just' like every other sci-fi (and DRAMA) on tv.
If you think RDA's acting is off, then you clearly are not a true Stargate viewer, Jack's character has always been sarcastic and nonchalant about things, and as he rose to being a general, he became even more just "meh" about most things. But that's Jack. I think RDA's acting is on spot with how Jack has changed. And if he's gained some weight, then it's only normal, the guy is getting old, that's what happens, he's not as athletic as he was.
@BetaArtemis i know man, hes not even actually changed all THAT much, he was such a brilliant actor because of the subtulties he put in to his acting, i mean lets face it, everyone thought he was hillarious but he didnt do anything drastic to be so funny, just subtle tricks and manorisms, stargate without RDA will never be quite the same, others might come close but no one can best the guy on a lead male role in any sg series just because of the depth he managed to bring

To those who say RDA's acting stinks and that he looks horrible... The man is 60-years-old, what do you expect? He doesn't look that old, but he has put on weight. He's mostly retired, only doing the occasional guest spot; what do you expect? He looks fine! In regards to seeming dissinterested in acting... From what I've read, he seems to be enjoying his role on the show. He wouldn't sign up for four episodes if he didn't want to be there.
i almost came when i saw the first space battle in SGU, and i pray that in season two there will be more of that, which form the season two trailer it looks like there will be

You need to watch the show not this crappy edited vid. RD anderson is not the star but has some guest spots. The show has a different formula. Its more like battlestar galactica with a political struggle between military and civilian on ship. watch 5 episodes before you throw a rock at it.

I would love to see that the Ship had landed in the middle of an civil war between 2 planets and they helped 1 race to annihilate the other just to see that they chose the wrong 1!
Later they would meet a race which was fluid and could look like any other they met,
a race which couldnt be seen on close proximity radar when they looked like human and could only be seen face to face!
We've only briefly seen a few aliens, nothing that interesting with aliens.
They've so far just hinted at interesting ideas without exploring them much. It's not a horrible show, some of them have been better than others. But come on.

The whole reason the Hammond couldn't stop the attack is contrived. They have super advanced ray guns capable of blowing apart the enemy ships in one to two shots each. Do they use them, NO Carter get's Pendergast syndrome and lets the enemies blast her ship until the bridge sparks. In short, the Icarus base is destroyed and it's all her fault.

I'm all with the people who defends RDA. God damnit, he got older and gained weight, so what ? Want to trade him for a younger model ?

I was more hurt when he left the show. I stopped watching after that (and to be honest, the show was already beginning to go downhill with season 8 *the writing never was the strong point of SG but it gradually went worse*).

I just began to watch fully SGU right after the Atlantis crossover episode with Dr Mckay and Mr Woolsey...and a hint of the word SHEPPARD spoken by COL Young to Mckay....only then i felt the 'presence' of the old stargate episode creeping back....

I've got an idea. The SyFY channel should have two 12 hour segments. One 12hr segment should have all of the highest rated content including the more serious sci-fi drama shows like the cancelled "Caprica" and "Stargate Universe"! This should air around the primetime hours.
As for the other 12hrs, there should be nothing. Just blank or that rainbow thing you get when there's no content. Save the cash for real sci-fi and stop cancelling great shows!

Just because you don't like it or don't see it as Stargate doesn't mean RDA has to follow your order or only your opinions count. He can appear in whatever he wants to, and if he is asked to help bring in a new series like he did for Atlantis, then he has every right to do that as the guy who's been there since the beginning. Besides, he's hardly the only Stargate actor to make appearances on here.

I rather enjoy SGU... More for the sense of anticipation. Not whether the'll find their way home, but more the anticipation of when is the story line just going to completely fall off a cliff.
Several characters have already fallen apart. Plot lines manage to get worse every episode. I'm really excited to see if the crew can survive to season 3.

SGU is dark, dull & boring. The premise is Voyager. The look is BSG.
Stargate had its own style. It didn't copy other sci-fi. It was unlike any other sci-fi ever put on tv. Now it's 'just' like every other sci-fi (and DRAMA) on tv.

If you think RDA's acting is off, then you clearly are not a true Stargate viewer, Jack's character has always been sarcastic and nonchalant about things, and as he rose to being a general, he became even more just "meh" about most things. But that's Jack. I think RDA's acting is on spot with how Jack has changed. And if he's gained some weight, then it's only normal, the guy is getting old, that's what happens, he's not as athletic as he was.

To those who say RDA's acting stinks and that he looks horrible... The man is 60-years-old, what do you expect? He doesn't look that old, but he has put on weight. He's mostly retired, only doing the occasional guest spot; what do you expect? He looks fine! In regards to seeming dissinterested in acting... From what I've read, he seems to be enjoying his role on the show. He wouldn't sign up for four episodes if he didn't want to be there.

This series leaned too much up against Lost and took way to long to see any other Alien species!
I would love to see that the Ship had landed in the middle of an civil war between 2 planets and they helped 1 race to annihilate the other just to see that they chose the wrong 1!
Later they would meet a race which was fluid and could look like any other they met,
a race which couldnt be seen on close proximity radar when they looked like human and could only be seen face to face!

The whole reason the Hammond couldn't stop the attack is contrived. They have super advanced ray guns capable of blowing apart the enemy ships in one to two shots each. Do they use them, NO Carter get's Pendergast syndrome and lets the enemies blast her ship until the bridge sparks. In short, the Icarus base is destroyed and it's all her fault.
