  • Im freakin obsessed with this ship atm, I'm actually making a comic that takes place on an icebreaker ship modeled after the samuel risley

  • Yay, I'm from the Bay! Awesome ship!

  • Nice video!! I just watched the Risley ...it just left us at Harsens Island, MI...heading for Port Huron, MI...she is quite a ship...

  • She was working with the Griffin and the USCGC Mackinaw....along with the USCG Bristol Bay, Neah Bay, Penobscot Bay & Mobile Bay

  • Beautiful

  • cool :o

  • Just saw this beautiful vessel moments ago docked in Windsor. Nice to be able to see her in action.

  • Nice video, let's get this season started! 1long 2short

  • Thanks for posting this. Brings back alot of memories from when I sailed on her.

Don't miss the Thunder Bay winters though.

  • drivingmenutso: I imagine that's right! How in the hell can anyone live in a place that gets 2 feet of ice over the river in the winter? DAMN that's cold. Btw, that ship looks like it could tunnel through concrete. lol

  • Actually, the Risley has just shy of 8,800 BHP, and then there are losses through gearboxes and shafting...

  • @thegreasemonkey69 Samuel Risley generates 8840 BHP from her 4 Wartsilla V12 diesel engines. Even with the "losses" associated with her gearboxes, shafting, etc. there is nothing on the Great Lakes that can keep up with her in the ice.
