I just found one of these sitting in Laguna Beach. I have been scouring the web for 5 months trying to find one of these bad boys - as I was late to the party, and here I found one right down the road from me, when I was taking my acoustic in for a setup. I have an American Deluxe Strat and this FSR kicks its rear.......Nice guitar, great price!

Does this come from the Fender factory with the "Thin Skin" designation or is it a Modern Strat with a nitro lacquer paint job? It does not look the the other "Thin Skins" that are reissues of the '54, '57, '61 and '62 Strats from Wildwood. What gives?

Fender needs to drop the polyurethane finish on all american made guitars in general. This guitar should be the regular american standard not an FSR. shit like that makes think fender is an asshole. but love the stratocaster.

Yesterday I was in a shop and tried a American Strat priced at around $1600.

Its fat neck was a pain to play.

My great Squier Strat has hundred times better neck and its pickups are very strat sounding, you would not believe its only a Squier... :)

You really only need a Floyd if you plan to use it to either extreme. A little vibrato won't necessarily make a guitar go out of tune. Also, a proper setup helps.

Since I am a big fan of the fixed bridge and dont really like the whammy bar, i dont know much about it, so heres a question...I saw Andy using the bar a lot in his videos, and it doesnt seem that the guitars go out of tune...dont you need to have a floyd rose to keep it in tune while using a whammy bar?

@gorefinder I have a 2005 Am Deluxe HSS strat. I despise Floyd Rose trem systems, as well as any other locking nut setups--- It just kills the tone, and sounds all tinny when you alter the pitch with the bar. My strat's locking tuning pegs, LSR rolling ball nut, and 2 point sync trem has all the stability I need. I use pretty heavyish strings, and even when I bend the bar as far as it can go (just for kicks-- Mic Mars style) the tuning is fine (my third string can get +/- half a step afterwards)
