Perso, ça me rend triste de le voir jouer seul un morceau qui est chef d'oeuvre de sa création. C'est un morceau qui a la patate d'habitude et là c'est tout tristounet ... :(
i wish the who would have been more like the beatles and cream, and the writer of the song would be the one who sings it, because pete sings very well and hes also the one who wrote this
Pete wrote almost all of the songs, John wrote about one an album ( none on Tommy, Who's next, Quadraphenia) keith Moon sang a few and I think wrote 1 song and roger didn't write any until after moon's death.
And Moon wrote I Need You, which he also sang, and the instrumental Cobwebs and Strange (on A Quick One), the single B-sides In the City (co-written by Moon and Entwistle), Dogs Part Two (sharing credits with Townshend's and Entwistle's dogs, Towser and Jason) and Waspman, and Girl's Eyes (from The Who Sell Out sessions). He also co-composed the instrumental The Ox (on My Generation) with Townshend, Entwistle, and pianist Nicky Hopkins.
yea but keep in mind Pete wrote almost all the songs for the Who. Roger wouldn't have been needed and honestly Roger was a better singer especially during and after Tommy
Awesome version of a classic song. I'm pretty sure Pete Townshend could make the cheapest, crappiest, most rickety guitar in the world sound great--a really underrated guitarist. And of course, he's an INGENIOUS songwriter!
to set the record straight, pete performed pinball wizard and drowned then was given a magnum of brandy from the shows producers thanking him for performing....he was to close the show out with won't get fooled again and when they came to get him for the last number, he was quite mellow, having polished off a large amount of the brandy, thus John Williams assisted him on stage.
It is a Gibson J 200, purchased at Manny's Music in NYC in 1968. It appears on every record by the Who and Townshend from Tommmy onwards. It fell apart in the 90's, he had it rebuilt, but retired it.
Actually, Pete says this was one of the few guitars he didn't want to smash. It suffered some kind of water damage and sort of "exploded" (the top soundboard imploded) while in the studio.
This is from very important time in Pete's life. He was having trouble living with himself, coming to terms with who he really was, or wasn't.
He claims to have drunk approx. 3-4 bottles of Brandy before going on stage to overcome his nerves, and the fear of performing without the band.Even after the has him trying to trick Williams, and almost succeeding. Williams is impressed this all goes to contention that Pete is really a Folk Singer.
I really think that Pete is not given the full credit he deserves as a pioneering song-writer, composer and guitarist.

That's incorrect. John wrote Cousin Kevin and Fiddle About on Tommy and My Wife on Who's Next.

And Roger co-wrote Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere with Pete and wrote See My Way (on A Quick One) and Here for More (B-side to The Seeker).

John wrote Fiddle About and Cousin Kevin. Both of these were on Tommy

He doesn't do Drowned at this one, he does Won't Get Fooled Again (with John Williams as backing) - would love to see it again, it is fantastic.
