I get the leather wet so that it gets softer and more maleable, then when I measure the fit, I stretch the leather around the handle holding it tight and mark the place where the stitching will go, then when I actually start stictching I do it a little bit tighter than the marks I made and when I'm done I fit the knife in the wet sheath to dry
if you will take a toothbrush, and brush melted leather into the inside of the sheath while holding it over steaming water, it will fill the leahter pores with the way, and make it stiffer, and waterproof.
very nice sheath

How do you shape the leather to fit so nicely around the handles?

Wet the leather, and put the knife in it and it will dry to fit. use hot water, and it takes while, I do mine over a 3 day period.

Did you waterproof your leather ?
mwillblade 2 years ago
No. I sometimes rub a layer of WD-40 to get a better color and it also helps a little with the waterproofing.
