Nice to see that this girl doesn't let her horse get away with pulling that crap. A much lesser rider, like all of these haters on here, would have had to get off the horse and call it a day. This would've reinforced this horse's bad behavior and probably ruined him forever for riding. Guess where unrideable horses usually end up, the slaughter house.
Kudos to a great little rider that was eventually able to get a good run out of her ornery little mount. I salute you!
umm hello what is ur flipping problem u should be whipped as hard or harder for whipping him/her for that....u should never ride again i don't care how well u ride u never whip a horse like that u little idiot..u should be stripped of ur ridding tack, medals and horses forever....enough said....NEVER HIT A HORSE LIKE THAT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!! EVER!!!!!
Urm hello? it is obvious she used the whip because the horse would even MOVE let alone fucking 'trotting around in a circle and then trying' there is nothing wrong with whipping a horse when they need a kick up the arse. Iv ridden horses like this and you can't give into them.
A bite or a kick can hurt way more then a crop. Horse was being testy is all, though it is not my method of getting a stubborn horse, she was not being abusive -_- The only thing wrong was jumping in a standing martigale.
Not a stubborn hore but a stubborn rider. The rider is determined to get the horse to do something it doesn't want to, that makes the rider stubborn.
Regardless of that, it just goes to show that if you bully an animal and hurt it enough you can get it to do what you want. "What did you do at the weekend?" "Oh I bullied and beat an animal"
The horse is not stubborn, nor scared, nervous, etc. He might be lazy, or me might be TESTING his rider. My horse is not lazy (well, sometimes), but he tests his riders. He's gotten to where he doesn't test me at all anymore, but it takes fifteen minutes for his to learn respect from any other new rider. Smart horses test their riders, because they know they don't have to listen to some idiot who's not going to make them do anything.
haha little shithead. The rider was in the right, her discipline was not unprovoked and she immediately stopped using the whip as soon as the horse did what he was being asked to do. Judging by his body language, this horse was no more than annoyed by the whip, if he had been, the end result would have been much different. If your child took a tantrum because you wanted him/her to pick up their toys and they did not want to, would you say "thats okay hunny, maybe next time if you feel like it"..
everyone saying they feel sorry for the horse - shut up. what would you do if that was you? tickle it's belly so you wouldn't hurt it's feelings? it started doing what the rider wanted and she didn't use the whip again. the horse needs to know who's in control.
that is not how you are supposed to use a crop anyways..you use it on the shoulder, you dont turn around and smack it in the ass..besides. If she cant get her horse moving without smacking it with a crop that hard she should probably not be riding it.
@devinbriann12 you are not supposed to use a crop on the shoulder...this action can get you disqualified at shows...using a crop on the shoulder also encourages horses to not move forward and to even rear...
I know it disiplan but if you look at it it looks like it hurts. but it acctully is like a slap and it feels like nothing on the horse. I don't like using a crop or spur and I don't but who knows if it might help it looked like it helped that girl.
I don't think her horse is stubborn. The main reason I say that is because I have never seen a stubborn horse. Horses are the most tractable animals on earth. If they are not, there is usually a simple reason as to why that is. The reason may be simple, identifying it may not be.
@PintoHorsesRule24 haha! i know! some people don't know how to train horses, and when you let them get away with stuff, they just run all over you. you know what i mean:)
@tillyhorsegrl11 haha, yeah i know what u mean. if u dont teach ur horse disaplinte the horse will do it over and over again thinking its ok to do it. Horses are Habit Animals. :)
Jeder hier sagt es sei normal! Jeder!
anyone who has ever RIDDEN a horse, and I mean ride, not some stupid little trail ride at the local nag barn, knows that this is NOT horse abuse! It's how you ride! To answer the "what else was she supposed to do?" If you are on a horse that refuses to go forward there is a very simple technique - make him turn. That would get his feet moving, maybe almost as much as the rider's were.
hey is this at wills park in alpharetta because i show there all the time and dont talk about that horse and rider because u dont know what you would do in that situation and a lot of horses are that way but she stuck with it thats what matters great job to that rider
i know that rider and the horse and she is a great rider the horse was just being stubborn that day i would no I WAS THERE!!!!! AND IT IS NOT HORSE ABUSE!!!! so stop talking about them if you don't even know who or what you are talking about
Why is the horse described as stubborn? Is it because it is insisting that it won't go forward? If that is the case then logiacally the rider who is insisting the horse does something it doesn't want to do is equally stubborn.
this isnt horse abuse, she just doesnt know how to use a crop and she shouldnt be using one if she doesnt know how to use it, you dont hit the horse on the butt you should tap it on behind your foot so that the horse learns to respond to your foot
guys it wasnt horse abuse the horse wasnt going what is she sapposed to do get off and leave the ring no she was kiking the horse wasnt going so the only think left to do is smack the horse theirs many ppl who do it i bet you have so stop saying its horse abuse its not i love horses to the horse was being a jack so it got its chance but nope the person takes care of the horse right? she feeds it right?she buys blankets and grooms it right?if she was abuseing it she wouldent be doing any of that

There is no good reason to hit a horse or any animal as hard as she did. There was not stubborn it was scared. A light tap will do.

@167Kagome umm, yea..no sometimes a "light tap" will not do. they are big strong animals...you can't let them get away with stuff like that.
