carefully apply more and more force until it opens. (ask your mom/dad/grandma/whoever perhaps?)
clocks can be quite hard to open, but the only things you can break with this method are you're scissors and the little plastic sticks which hold the clock together besides the glue.
Since you'll have to apply tape to your clock afterwards anyway to keep it together, these don't really matter.
P.S.:I'm seroius; Grandmother's can be very strong :)
Haha, I already opened mine using a knife and lots of work. It doesn't look perfect but it's alright. I broke one of the pins that hold the clock together though :(
