You've already done the most difficult part of transitioning - being "out" - and living the Bay Area during transition is probably the best place in terms of finding tolerance, acceptance and like-minded friends.

I haven't yet found the courage to come "out" but have dabbled with "self-prescribed" hormones, (more out of fear than money).

Although I live near L.A., I'm usually up in the Bay Area every few weeks. Would love to chat!

Jen, Everything will be okay. Right now life sucks and it will at certian points as always but, you always find away to cope and everything turns for the better again after awhile. Spend some time alone and relax, think of what you want to do ect. and how to achive those things. You will find a way but, make sure that it isn't going to put yourself in danger. Also, even if you have five o'clock shadow ect. , does it define you? Does it make you any less than who you are? Only u can answer that.

Friends come and go and some stay, that is true but, what are some other things about yourself do you know? What other things do you want to change, or keep? Relationships are great but, until you know how you can help yourself, you won't be able to expand your relationships that are new. I hope that isn't too harsh. Everything will be okay, it will. Being off hormones is a really big downer. Icouldn't get them for over a year and a half and it was the longest freak out ever. I'm not sure what your status with Lyonn/Marten is, but I'm uninsured and am getting hormones through them, so I don't know. Feeling lonely sucks and I'm sorry about that. I hope that goes away soon and things improve.

PP helps provide hormones on a sliding scale based on income so you should be able to get HRT through them.

I have been off my hrt for two months now because I lost half of my income, and so I'm just getting by paying the rent where I live. This year has been tough on pretty much everybody, with the Second Depression going on. It's had a lot of secondary effects (ex. I bet my sister wouldn't be divorced if her hubby hadn't been unemployed so long, for instance). Some folks' reluctance to hang out/ travel to see you might also be due to monetary factors?

It sucks to see you going through it, but it can still be dealt with and things can get back on track. Its just a hiccup.. If the changes start to become evident, just revel in how far you have come and CAN go again. You have to hang in there. Just think that when you get back on track the fun and exploration of progress once again.
