I think you should make a bass guitar tutorial DVD. Or even a few maybe, you obviously have great knowledge and a great style that bass players can relate too and follow/learn easily from, so why not!
I wouldnt be surprised if you already had, or at least thought of the idea, but could be good for you, sell it online! i bet theyd fly!!
You R the undisputed heavyweight champion of the Funk bass on UTUBE! As always U Stand a deliver! U need to come to the states and play so your fans can thank U in person.
Something funny happened today, my dad asked me to show him how to double thumb, turns out it's not for everyone, his thumb doesn't bend back far enough, and restricts him way to much to double thumb efficiently, even if he was to practice endless hours.
Noticed this a couple of times, sometimes when a persons thumb bends too far too. Mine makes an almost perfect right angle. That's why i think i find it easy. Wierd. lol (=
Man, If I could play that I would be a happy man. But I still can't get the double thumbing techneque down. I've been practicing for hours and still can't get any rythme down. Its annoying, but I'm still trying. Thanks for upload, thats a really cool bassline.
Chido men la verdad slapeas muy bien, yo tengo muchos problemas para slpaear estaria muy chido de tu parte una catedra de slap. Saludos desde aki de acayucan, mexico.
Hey Marlow...I noticed that you are not using your ring finger on your left hand much (particularly when doing octave pops)...is that just a question of what is good for you. I use my pinky a lot too, since I find that more natural, but I have been told "it is not correct"...now are those folks just wankers or are they right?
I the low positions i usually use my pinky on the octave, and my middle is ready to play the fifth if needed. I the higher register i sometimes use the middle for octaves, what ever is natural. But as a general fingering rule for i use 1, 2 and then 3and4 together in low positions and only use "1 finger per fret" method in the high register, that the most relaxed way to play IMO.
Hey man. I own a Peavey Milestone bass, good intermediate bass. But everytime a pluck my "low" E string, it rattles and prevents me from getting that great chunky sound when I slap. How can I fix this?
one simple question dude? It is better to keep the strings low for slapping? or it is easier to slap with high action? What do you think? Which one is easier and best sounding?
hmm, not other than muting the other strings with your left hand. For me DT the G string is actually the easiest part. But try and pretend that yuor thumb is a pick. One note, it took me a fairly looong time to "master", so dont be discouraged, just pratice

Hey Marlowe, any pointers on keeping control of your thumb when double thumping on the G string?
