  • Hi dude tanks !

What kind of strings are on your Bass ?

    Thanks

  • I have hunted the web high and low and cannot find a copy of this anywhere. I want it!

  • Are those black nylon tapewounds? Or DRs??

  • double thumbing is soooo hard!

  • thankyou very much for laying this down

I am finding it very hard to do this technique.. but I guess practicing slowly and properly and I will eventually get there!

  • Its very thoughtful of you to offer your time teaching. I appreciate it as I know everyone else does as well.

    We love you Marlowe!

  • Im growing very fond of your hands!!

  • I suppose it would just be like your site and videos are at the moment, it would just be nice to have something tangeable to work from and with!

    anyway, cheers Thomas.

  • I think you should make a bass guitar tutorial DVD. Or even a few maybe, you obviously have great knowledge and a great style that bass players can relate too and follow/learn easily from, so why not!

I wouldnt be surprised if you already had, or at least thought of the idea, but could be good for you, sell it online! i bet theyd fly!!

  • @Deicidal He's working on one as far as I know. Some basic slap-technique . (:

  • Just how basses do have?

  • tnx man more tutorials please! :D

    keep rockin!

  • nice bas boob on the left, love it when that happens

  • Great job. I wasn't double thumbed originally, but who cares. Your groove kills, right on the MONEY.

  • good:)

  • Are those black beautys i see on that bass!! beautiful...ive got the peacock blue ones on mine ^_^

  • Thomas is the man! :-)

  • nice shit man

  • You R the undisputed heavyweight champion of the Funk bass on UTUBE! As always U Stand a deliver! U need to come to the states and play so your fans can thank U in person.

  • You offer so much freely I really hate to ask but what are the odds of getting 1 of these slowed down tutorials for release yourself?

You are 1 BAD MUTHA PLUCKA!

  • another great job.

  • Thanks for donating your time to show technique. TC

  • Something funny happened today, my dad asked me to show him how to double thumb, turns out it's not for everyone, his thumb doesn't bend back far enough, and restricts him way to much to double thumb efficiently, even if he was to practice endless hours.

Noticed this a couple of times, sometimes when a persons thumb bends too far too. Mine makes an almost perfect right angle. That's why i think i find it easy. Wierd. lol (=

  • Yet another awesome video. Are you using DR Black Beauties?

  • yes i think so

  • Well I know what my next purchase is going to be! They will look (and sound!) good on my Warwick Corvette.

  • great video! thanks!

  • Man, If I could play that I would be a happy man. But I still can't get the double thumbing techneque down. I've been practicing for hours and still can't get any rythme down. Its annoying, but I'm still trying. Thanks for upload, thats a really cool bassline.

  • practicing for (several)hours!! Oh my, i thought you would be worldclass by now , with all that time invested;-)

  • This is one of my fave songs you've played along to, so thanks for this :)

  • une écoute toujours aussi agréable à chaque vidéo merci

  • super un vrai plaisir à chaque vidéo

  • You are each time better !!!

Thanks a lot one more time

  • gotcha black nylons on

  • I think its just coated steel/nickle strings.

  • Chido men la verdad slapeas muy bien, yo tengo muchos problemas para slpaear estaria muy chido de tu parte una catedra de slap. Saludos desde aki de acayucan, mexico.

  • Hey Marlow...I noticed that you are not using your ring finger on your left hand much (particularly when doing octave pops)...is that just a question of what is good for you. I use my pinky a lot too, since I find that more natural, but I have been told "it is not correct"...now are those folks just wankers or are they right?

  • I the low positions i usually use my pinky on the octave, and my middle is ready to play the fifth if needed. I the higher register i sometimes use the middle for octaves, what ever is natural. But as a general fingering rule for i use 1, 2 and then 3and4 together in low positions and only use "1 finger per fret" method in the high register, that the most relaxed way to play IMO.

  • But do as you please, the sound produced is the important . You should see Larry Grahams left hand position, looks awfull:-)

  • Thanks Mate...keep the grooves coming. I look forward to your posts.

  • nice, thanks

  • Hey man. I own a Peavey Milestone bass, good intermediate bass. But everytime a pluck my "low" E string, it rattles and prevents me from getting that great chunky sound when I slap. How can I fix this?

  • Great job as always. Are you using the black metal strings? At least they don't sound like black nylon tape...

  • normal round wounds just with a black coating

  • one simple question dude? It is better to keep the strings low for slapping? or it is easier to slap with high action? What do you think? Which one is easier and best sounding?

  • Low = easier (what i use)

High = sounds better, fatter tone

  • Hey Marlowe, any pointers on keeping control of your thumb when double thumping on the G string?

  • hmm, not other than muting the other strings with your left hand. For me DT the G string is actually the easiest part. But try and pretend that yuor thumb is a pick. One note, it took me a fairly looong time to "master", so dont be discouraged, just pratice

  • Cool thanks, I got the other strings down fairly well. I just have a problem with my thumb going to far, on the G.

  • im not good enough at double thumb to use it on this song

  • Heyy good to see more videos of you man. Always such a clean sound and groovy as! love it!

  • I'm going to work on my double thumbing now...Thanks marlowedk! Always a pleasure watching and learning from you!

  • That was great Marlowe! As always 5/5! That double thumb technique is really hard to do. You make it look so easy!
