i tried it out on my old laptop and it works pretty great is a very good way to play games if your pc specs are not good but if they are like my gaming rig stick to the old way
I really dislike the idea of this could gaming lark, i and many MANY people prefer to own the game and have a hard copy of it. If this fad and i hope all it is, is a fad takes off and it brings the end of being able to own a hard copy of the game i will stop gaming all together.
The only reason this cloud thing is being made is to stop trade ins on games and put more money in greedy devs pockets, some people cant afford £40+ for a game so they buy them pre owned. Cloud gaming lol total BS!
I just found this today, bought Lord of the Rings War of the North for $1! I love it because I have a horrible computer and all it requires is a good internet speed witch I have. I seemed a bit upset when it had an expire date on the game but after 4 years you will forget you even bought it
i started playing onlive sat eve , uk , a few days after launch ,,, ive been inpressed so far , tonight the streaming has been a bit slow , althought i know it could be due to alot of players online ... still im gunna give it a few more days before i subscribe
@mhart9055 of course you have to pay for it dumbass...If you dont then this is the same as pirating...This software prevents less pirating...no downloads means no douchebags who have no money
I just signed up a few days ago, can't stop playing it since. Definitely worth $10 a month. I've got 16mb down / 2mb upload connection and it works great.
this shit sucks. i have 11mb connection and it gets pixelated from time to time.this thing reduces speed on bad rig also because it is streaming so much.
If this had Wifi and Steam support, I'd go out and buy this. This looks like a really handy tool for PC gaming, I'm more of a console gamer myself, but I like this kind of technology. It would be cool to have something like this inside the computer so you can still play the games in the event of the internet disconnecting, just at a lower quality. Hopefully this technology will be integrated into consoles.
I don't think there will be a succersore to this any year soon. Think about it, if you get hacked, or if your onlive gets broken, then how are you gonna get everything back? that's why there is something called ''Disk'' to make sure everything is 100% ok
OnLive works with: Windows 7 or Vista (32 or 64-bit) , Windows XP SP3 (32-bit), and Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later. Plus it works with Apple devices (currently only iPad) and works with Android devices (coming soon),
he says, barely any lag? ya right, look at that choppy ass frame rate and shitty picture quality, this will NEVER work. ill stick with my PS3, XBOX 360, wii, and PC. thank you
im not hating on this i think its awesome but its fucking retarded to do this in america..unless they can somehow find a way to force the internet companies to release fiber for everyone!
this is stupid as fuck! there streaming the game to you and you don't actually own it.
whats really retarded is that there releasing this in America, obviously everyone knows America has the shittiest internet speeds in the world! the internet companies are to damn cheap! to release fiber to everyone, using 100 year old technology. why doesn't the company release in Europe or japan they have the 100mb internet speeds while were here with 1.5-5mb.usual and some people with cable. 20mb..
Not even close broseph. Steam is just where you buy games, and play them, and it actually reduces performance on bad rigs. This basically streams the games. If you have a good rig, use steam still, if not, this is prettty boss.
Can I play my steam games on it like Garrysmod? Or will I have to buy the games that I have already bought on this new console? And, does it even have Garrysmod?
the reason it lags so much is because of his internet connection. I have this service and the games never really lag for me. playing with the keyboard takes some getting used to if you are not used to it. But if you have a wired xbox controller u can use that instead.
This was a great idea, I just believe they should have approached it differently. Everyone was so excited for it 1 year ago. Now, I never hear about it. No one has it. Did it fail? Or is it just me?
@nilloc2468100 excactly, they had a monthly fee of 15$ but they canceled it so now the service is compleatly free the only tiime you pay is as you said if you buy or rent a game
well they need more exclusives. Give me the witcher , the stalker series, crysis or starcraft 2 and well talk. All their games they have now : a) I can play it on my PS3 or 360 b) I can allready run it (world of goo).
@thatguy4837 Yah, onlive prevents people from using wifi, unless you can find a workaround. They probably did that because the wifi connection adds additional time to your response time. They need the response time to be under 60 ms so every little bit counts.
@zukas5 lol then u must be sitting right next to the router ;) Wi-Fi would only not work because its far away from the router. but you still will expierence lag no matter what evetually it will freeze every know and then
@DudeWolfx It depends on strenght of your router and your receiver or something. And i'm using stationary PC but cable can't reach my room so i use Wireless with USB additional thing. It works good for me
@Honeyandmilk100 yah, the great thing is they have the capability to expand rapidly, the only thing slowing them down is the amount of game publishers that sign on. They can also stream movies and shows with their new compression tech.
@hackerdude666 Not if you have an internet speed of 1-5MBp or greater and within a 1000 mile range limit as proven by Steve Perlman cause games run a thousand times better on supercomputers than normal ones and consoles.
i cant do this because my internet isnt fast enough, u have to have a required speed

Lag is noticeable on some games. Borderlands and JC2 are awesome, but the Tower Defense game that is on there is damn near unplayable.
