I had a 2002 Mustang GT. It came stock with 260HP. Got sick of paying the ridiculous fuel bill so I traded it in for a 2012 Mustang V6. More Horsepower, better fuel economy, better handling, better looks. Very happy.

Although I will admit the new true 5.0 is dope so dont get me wrong but the way most of us would drive either and with gas at 4+ a gallon the v6 would be the smart choice and throw on the performance package and your damn close to 10 Ibs per horsepower not bad for a v6

@MisterP64bit Dude I have the 4.0 V6 Stock and it is plenty fast enough for your average driver. Unless you plan on racing, a V6 will more than get the job done. Also, IMO, fun commuter cars have less to do with straight line times and more to do with how much fun it is to gun it and change lanes around 80% of the other cars out there.

Here was my choice back in Dec 09: Get a 4.0 V6 with the Sync tech & great sound system (plus other stuff like better looking wheels) or get a base 4.6 V8. Seeing as I don't do stick shift (commuter car), there was almost no reason to get a V8. People are fools. I had a guy with an I4 Honda laugh and say I should have gotten a V8. Just jealous...

The car I priced out came with the mustang club of america appearance package and sport package which is the same as the GT track pack. The dub edition is an option that is suppose to only cost $3700. A fully loaded v6 is still a lot cheaper than a base GT.

V-6 or V-8, who cares? the V-6 mustang is basically the pinnacle of mass production automotive engineering. Tons of power, and ridiculously fuel efficient. The V-8 gains a bit of power at the expense of efficiency. Both are easily two of the best cars made today.

Regardless of which one you get, people are going to be breaking their necks trying to check it out as you fly by.
