I dont know if this still affects you 3 months after a comment but i sugest picking a dps melee class from the start. easyest and u learn the most.

Yes, i'm a level 40 engineer on the Vortex realm. You can pick different builds of course! There is the rifle/shooter tree, turret tree , or the grenade tree, I prefer the rifle tree because the turrets are fine with DPS just neeeded to brush up on the rifle DPS, and overall dmg in general.

Most Engineers try to control the flow of a fight with all sorts of CC, and AoEs.

2 of the most common specs are pretty much close range, So the ranged dps is kind of mis-leading.

Can you have like "builds (WoW type things) for an engineer? I was thinking of mainly focusing on turrets/AoE abilities and strengthening them, then rather being an all around rifleman/grenadier. Thanks

i believe as you mentuibed there is a rifleman/grenadier and a tinkerer, the latter i believe can focus and strengthen his turrets makign him a more defensive dps.

That's right. Theres the ranged rifle dps spec, the mid-range grenadier spec, and the turret spec.

this game is insanely fun, got to play on preview weekend. only thing im worried about is lagginess. im on satellite internet so i dont expect it to be real quick. but i could play world of warcraft fine. but with this the screen froze up alot and i was jumping around quite a bit. hopefully it will be better come launch
