Thank you vmuch! Yours is the first amongst so many that i been thru to clearly show what "path to text" meant and how "Shrink" can do for the effect. Can you do another explaining incorporating and explaining things like "alpha to channel" or

"alpha to logo" I have seen them being used but not understanding what it really does.  Sorry to be such a noob.

You can easily remedy this by pausing after each step, performing the task, and then unpausing it. That's what I did.

I liked, it but when i got to the part when you shrink it by 8 px the path selection doesn't just look gone, it actually completely disappears and it won't even allow me to use things like feather, any shrink over 5 disappears for me. does it make any difference if i just skip that part?

I liked the pace, I do screencasts too and find many go to slow, you can pause the video if you need to but following a slow screencast is a pain.

BTW, are you chewing gum or putting your dentures in? Really, the sound of your voice was really annoying, too bad because everything else was great.

Good tutorial, just to mention though, if you are using an older version of GIMP...

you can also create a path around the text by going to

Layer > Transparency > Alpha to Selection

just goto the toolbox on the left and click on that triangle arrow (pointing left) best seen when he zooms in at :52 seconds in video... you click on that triangle and add tabs, just add a layers tab or whatever... another way is goto the Windows Tab and just select Dockable Dialogs... or just hold down control + L for Layers toolbox......probably the easiest
