  • DROOLING.... :-P

  • I remember this show

  • Anyone else notice from the plate that this car is from Canada?

  • the whole point of the this clip was to educate the posers that buy all those jap luxury cars that think their cool and in style and that cant drive a real american muscle car because they dont have the character

  • What a fantastic resto-mod of this iconic car...fun video too!

  • my dream is to live in Frisco and own a 76 torino. Driver 1 style.

  • meal and sunglasses everywhere... America

  • thats how people should drive these cars they built last and be driving hard whats the point of buying a car like this if you aint gonna drive it likeit should be driven

  • @emill701 I SO agree with you! I had a '74 Gran Torino in Germany and drove it routinely 90-120 mph on the autobahn and hard OFF the autobahn when the roads allowed! It was great!!

  • It would help if these idiots took it seriously! They drive like stripped tomatoes!

  • @cbxsage I SO AGREE WITH YOU!! My daughter came out of her room to see who I was raising my voice!! I thought they were idiots!! I hate it when people make fun of Starsky's car!!

  • I WANT ONE BADLY... GUMBALL AND WIG WAGS...

  • If I had to choose between the Porshce and the Gran Torino give me the latter-that looked like a total riot!

  • i wished all police squad cars were fast like this

  • Wish I had a 588 cu in engine ine mine. I only have a 406 with Edelbrock intake system. And yes, people recognize it!

  • awsome not afraid 2 pound on it!but yet you take very good care of it love it!!its american iron pound it it can take it!then rebuild it an upgrade it again!!

  • GRAN TORINO KICK ASS¡¡¡

  • I had a 76 torino !With after market fat sway bars good shocks and firm racing springs it handles quite well & still rides nice doe to it's weight .A 4 speed trans and a 3.73 rear gear really need though MPG really sucks and maybe fuel injection.

  • the car makes me happy

  • That just looks like big, stupid, laugh-so-hard-you-snort, FUN!!! I would LOVE to have the keys for a day!

  • I dont give a rats ass about how they handle, these are collector cars, not rat racer jap cars, they shouldnt be put through hard driving, preserve them and stop making them take more than they can handle.Show them and baby them so generations to come can see what thier forefathers used to drive.

  • @nailclippers3 That was the whole point of the clip, cars don't have to be worth a mint to be collectible. A few hard corners, on a closed track, with a professional driver, while I watched, staged for the camera didn't hurt my car. The week after Dream car garage updated the suspension completely - see comments somewhere below for details. No harm done, but just maybe someone will consider saving another classic car after watching this episode. We can all hope.

  • @nailclippers3 There is a such thing as RESTORING, so dono't worry about it. I noticed people buy a really nice classic, and HAUL them to the show, I'd rater drive them, what's the point of having a nice vehicle if you don't even fucking use it. Don't let it sit, excersize it and drive it to the show, that's what I'm gonna' do.

"But what if you crash?" No different if it was being hauled, crashes are crashes and shit happens.

  • @nailclippers3 Bullshit! I love the Starsky & Hutch Gran Torinos, hate it when someone refers to them as striped tomatoes, AND These guys were lame! I had a 1974 in Germany back in the early '80's and I drove in around Stuttgart and the rest of Germany just like Starsky drove his and I never lost control of mine once! I drove mine routinely 90-120 mph on the autobahn too and never had a problem with it!

  • @nailclippers3 These Cars were meant to be driven hard not left to rot in a garage like some trailer queen.

  • This is about the best Video I have seen yet - and speaking from experience My 1975 Starsky and Hutch Gran Torino is a far cry from the horsepower but the reaction is exactly the same - I love my car and the nastalgia behind it - If anyone says its an easy car to drive they dont have a clue.....

  • im grateful i own a 74

  • that is one of the funnest things iv'e ever seen.

  • pmfg if i evin got to sit in dis fukin car man lol

  • "it was heavy, it was cumbersome, it was very impossible to drive" To quote PM Glaser. Decades later he embraced the car that gave him a career.

I'd love to drive one of these in the near future.

BTW, I love the modern police package in those old dinosaurs....sweet touch!

  • I like how close the front bumper comes to the ground.

  • The car asks for stiffer sway bars! Anyway.. its AWESOME!

  • The car has the power, but no handling. Still though I think older muscle car are cooler than today's muscle cars.

  • the handling is terrible!!

  • but the driver is bad ass! lol he can still drive that car lol : P

  • I am guessing the weight of the big block is what's making it handle so poorly? I had a 75 with a 302 and it cornered way better than this car and I think it was the best driving and best riding car I ever had.

  • Well, sure, you can't drive it like THAT every day. I mean, that's exactly how it looked in the show, too! Having had one of these for years, it actually drove really smooth and had a great ride. It's a great cruising car and draws a lot of looks, but it's not good for chasing down cars and doing a lot of cornering. This had me laughing the whole way through because I was like, "Yep, know that feeling!" Great job!

  • Hahahaha === this car handle so bad it looks as its in a cartoon ... they are right - its only for fun and nice soundtrack - yuo cannot drive it in life ...

  • Right after filming, the Dream Car garage people updated the suspension for me. Adjustable 10 step shocks, urethane bushings, heavy duty sway bars front and rear and so on. Now the car handles close to a modern Crown Vic (i.e much better, but still a boat!).

  • Sweet! Yeah I was thinking some massive sway bars might do the trick - like made from wide flange structural steel beams from the nearest highrise building. Anyway, this car is the coolest!

  • @grenouille123 Any chance for a little footage showing the improved handling???? I'd be real curious to see how much flatter in the corners some mild suspension improvements would make for. I've always loved these cars, since watching the show in the 70's as a kid.

  • @Allexmax just needs decent shoes, suspension.... so much body roll

  • My mom had a 70 Torino in yellow. Beautiful cars even though they don't handle well. She had a 351 Cleveland in hers.

  • I have never seen a car go to ground like this before ! It even had a sound like boat before getting up on a plane! But still, like the guys said.. it's just for fun.. and you'd have to get a red magnetic light wouldn't you?

  • If you want to use the Gran Torino for track racing it's definitely going to need some suspension mods.

  • Nice valet parking at 3:00

  • regardless of the body roll - cause it was never designed for handling..it sure looks like fun!

  • yeah!! let it rock! 5*!

  • damn that car has ALOT of body roll

  • I think i am in love

  • @cyberfreakct38 It's really uncomfortable, you slide all over the place in them leather buckets seats as well, lol

  • @manomogul NOT if you're wearing your seatbelt!! I drove a '74 around Germany without any problems!

  • Haha you are an example of ignorance at it's best! LOL

  • Ahh okay... I have to wait two years cause i'm only 16, but i drive my familys cars whenever I can: 07 Mazda 6 mostly. But before i kinda had a Peugot something red, but it's wrecked at the junk yard now.

  • Whatever man... I'm getting tired of this don't you have anything else to do?

What car do you own by the way or your family?

  • well, then why is corvette ZR1 the fastest car EVER around the Nurburg ring, NIGGER!!

  • Well, maybe some older vehicles use a bit more gas than others, but newer have very little kilometers pr. litre like the new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 which uses 0,9 liters pr. 10 km which is really good when you think of the amount of horses and power it has compared to the worst gas guzzler there is: Lamborghini Murcielago uses 2,94 or 3 liter pr. 10 km! and the top modell LP640 has almost the same amount of HP as the corvette! And ever heard about GM's water engines? and am cars enginesound rule

  • My eyes are fine and what you have against american cars?

  • Don't you ever stop? Your arguing like a bi*ch, your like those people who get drunk and then go on the internett to discuss and argue.

You wouldn't even locate your own hand if you sat on it.

  • I did not mean that the Ford handles or performe better than the Porche, it's just that i like the Ford better because it's the kind of cars i like. Hope you understand that know, or it might be you who got hit by a truck as a child! And why don't you think that i live in Norway? You probably can't even point Norway out on the map!

But i won't judge you calling you a maltese bastard or whatever... You probably just drive around in a Fiat Polo with a dopey spoiler whilst listning to trance music.

  • What is wrong with you? don't you like that some people love american cars more than european and japanese, i did not say that I hated other cars than american. I only like american cars best, american culture and like that, but i like Ferrari's and BMW's too, but it's not my dream cars.

  • AWESOMEEE, much cooler than a Porche!

  • I hate that almost every 75/76 Torino is done up like that one...

  • You are too funny, 74-76 Torinos are not collector cars. Most people who own those years do so for sentimental reasons, or because they like Starsky and Hutch cars. There are about 200 Starsky and Hutch cars in North America of which almost half came from Ford that way. I say anyone who restores or preserves any classic car regardless of the paint is doing a good thing.

  • You are right...I have mine for sentimental reasons...

  • Yup! That was the point of the episode. To poke fun at the car and to show any car can be a dream car.

  • That car is fast with that 588 Roush motor. Too bad the horsepower won't stay on the ground.

  • LoLoLoL!!! i would introduce jesus to alot of imports in my beater lookin'74, with that 588

    roush BB in it...

  • I like the porno music at the end

  • they just making fun of that car///even with all the modern compnents they put on this car,,like the suspencion,,men it suck,,that car look like a hammock on every turn and heavy and slow//any way no offens but ford sucks//at list ford its better than dodge//late 60s hemi but ugly cars,,ford mustang and only late 60s early 70s and the ones on the mid-late 80s//i always like chevy, until now i only buy honda, they better than any other car

  • they said the car has a stock suspension with a 588 roush big block. there are performance upgrades to go past 1G in the slolom. the steering is stock too. having a ford of that mid 70s vintage, just basic power steering nothing special...

  • Damit erock did you not get the video? It's not about how fast you can get it around the track, it's about enjoying it and revelling in the whole idea that you are driving such an iconic car.

Plus it wouldn't have looked as cool in the series if there wasn't loads of body roll and oversteer in every corner.. you are obviously not a Starksy and Hutch fan.

P.S - sort out the fucking typing..

  • i enjoy my '74. there are limits to a stock set-up. i have no idea of how the show cars were back then. things were very different.

  • The show cars were totally stock except for lower (numerically higher) rear axle gearing.

  • ford had a maximum of 3.25:1 on big and intermediate coupes, sedans and wagons. the show cars had to been "tuned" with posi's and an agressive ratio for special effects. ford "9"s, ring and pins are easy to swap out any way..

  • Finally,I see someone driving the Torino like it's really in a chase! Even with an expert behind the wheel, the Torino is still a car not for the average joe driving in such a extreme way. At those break-neck speeds, the car will "fish-tail" or "drift" out of control at the turn of the wheel. Recovery takes know-how, and nerves of steel. I know some guys who drove their Torinos too fast and ended up wrapping it up around a tree or a telephone pole. Enjoyed the vid!

  • In fairness though, they are on a track not public roads and this video probably doesn't show the takes where the guy did spin out.. there must have been some.

But I agree, so much power to those back wheels - and with the stock suspension too.. must be a laugh though!

  • That was hilarious!

  • Oh yeah! My new FAVORITE torino video. That is a blast to watch. I only wish I was in the back seat.

  • I wouldn't. Those back seats are a bitch if you're over 4 foot 6. If you had the Gran Torino station wagon on the other hand....

  • Well now I get to ride in the front of my '75. Drives like a boat but I love it!

  • greaaaaaaaaaaaat muscle car best muscle from all muscle cars
