ok, I'll buck the trend here and say something about the knife. There are two that I know of: the Cold Steel Bushman, and the Cold Steel Bushman Bowie.
Weighing in at 288 grams, with a blade length of 17.8 cm this is a good knife to have on the camping trail. The Bushman Bowie comes with a larger and wider blade. Its a good all around knife because its not only honed to a fine edge, its just plain tough! If there's one knife you don't want to leave at home when you're outdoors, this is it.
Why does the video cut out during the second bend test with the pipe bringing it near 90 degrees? Does the knife not snap back to regular position lol? Did it BUST!?

@bregshivaffxi sometimes the catch has already died whether from the elements or it has choked itself. If its still alive a solid hit with a branch to its neck will snap its spine.
@DjUndying1 me neither I don't think, I can't really envision many current survival scenarios when having a spear would be more useful than just having the knife..... spear fishing maybe, but then the knife is a bit much for that, you'd do better just using the knife to make a wood spear. if you were skilled and resourceful enough I've seen video of natives surprising herds of reindeer etc and spearing them but the odds would be astronomically low for the average person to pull that off. ;P
@ShawDAMAN spear hunting is slowly catching on. Currently, With wild boar hunts mostly, but throwing spears have been used for deer, and also I think elk. If a bow hunter can get into 10 yard range, move and draw, I don't see why it can't be done with a spear. After all, the spear predates the bow as a hunting weapon, the arrow being designed as a small spear launced at higher speed to increase range.
I used to throw double bladed axes when I was a lad in the logging busz in the pacific NW, since then everything smaller is childs play, but seriously I find so many broomhandle stizx in the bush I cant count em all, not to mention all the game that stands still while I throw the spear at em, GUy thinks he is in africa, rofl

@machmut I own a Bushman, & I do like the fact that it's a solid hunk of carbon steel. I have to agree with you though re: survival usage. While that blade has a lot of potential as a defensive weapon, it wouldn't be my first choice for survival either. Everybody has their own personal preferences, but if I had my druthers, I would choose a good hatchet & a multitool, SAK or good folder combo There's a weight cost to be sure but worth it I think - right tool for the job and all that.

@Outlaw777x That is a bit much. However, a non-throwing spear can be improvised with just about any sapling. It will give you some standoff for dispatching a deer or other animal caught in a trap and will ward off wild dogs and the like. I have a walking staff that can be converted into a spear using this knife. It's not all that practical but it could come in handy. Also putting it on a shorter pole will give you a chopper like the English bill.

Indigenous and prehistoric peoples have made remarkable weapons, tools and various implements with very little with which to work and certainly without modern equipment. It can be done. Just check out some native American or African artifacts. Necessity is the mother of invention - in a survival situation, if you can adapt and improvise then you may very well overcome!
@Outlaw777x FYI, I was referring to being able to survive in a survival situation - not daily life, but I think you knew that. Not everybody has the skills, intestinal fortitude and physical abilities to survive under seriously adverse conditions. Also, check out some life insurance actuary tables because survival in daily life is definitely NOT a foregone conclusion either.

In my opinion it's to large in the most survival situations e.g. for to eviscerate animals. On the other hand it's not heavy enough for choping wood.
To sum up, it's is neither one thing nor another.
But that's just my subjective opinion ;)

@machmut I own a Bushman, & I do like the fact that it's a solid hunk of carbon steel. I have to agree with you though re: survival usage. While that blade has a lot of potential as a defensive weapon, it wouldn't be my first choice for survival either. Everybody has their own personal preferences, but if I had my druthers, I would choose a good hatchet & a multitool, SAK or good folder combo There's a weight cost to be sure but worth it I think - right tool for the job and all that.

@Outlaw777x That is a bit much. However, a non-throwing spear can be improvised with just about any sapling. It will give you some standoff for dispatching a deer or other animal caught in a trap and will ward off wild dogs and the like. I have a walking staff that can be converted into a spear using this knife. It's not all that practical but it could come in handy. Also putting it on a shorter pole will give you a chopper like the English bill.

Indigenous and prehistoric peoples have made remarkable weapons, tools and various implements with very little with which to work and certainly without modern equipment. It can be done. Just check out some native American or African artifacts. Necessity is the mother of invention - in a survival situation, if you can adapt and improvise then you may very well overcome!

@Outlaw777x FYI, I was referring to being able to survive in a survival situation - not daily life, but I think you knew that. Not everybody has the skills, intestinal fortitude and physical abilities to survive under seriously adverse conditions. Also, check out some life insurance actuary tables because survival in daily life is definitely NOT a foregone conclusion either.
