  • this is the only album where John's bass is loud enough in the mix

  • british rock at its best!

  • John Entwistle best bass player ever, no doubt.

  • If I was stranded on an island, I would have to have this album. Otherwise I would refuse to be stranded on the island.

  • You doubt Keith Moon is the best drummer ever?.... Listen to Live at Leeds.

  • ...IF I WAS ON A DESERT ISLAND.....THIS WOULD BE THE ALBUM I WOULD TAKE.

  • Was there - it was seminal - not up with them at John Peel's Mother's in Erdington ages before though - Brownie Points? Any sign of the Who's greatest fan Mick Shanley?

  • I listened to this on Vinyl, when a good stylus was 30- 40 dollars. And of course a Pioneer turntable, through a 1050 reciever.

  • 0:51-1:22 sick bass

  • Its too bad The Who playing at the superbowl were missing two essential members, Entwistle and Moon! But Roger and Pete still rocked it!!!!!

  • couldnt agree more

  • That Power riff at the end of that part Still gives me Goosebumps, So F'n Awesome.

  • CANCION DE 1970

  • my band r doing this tommora, cant hope to mach tis!

  • I've been listening to The Who for almost 30 years now. This version of My Generation still remains the best I've ever heard. A few years ago I was walking down the street with this on earphones and I was thinking to people in cars passing by "How can you sit there calmly while this music exists in our world?" After all these years, it still has that power.

  • Fuckin' A man.. These guys were the greatest. For over thirty years this album has me going strong. Tommy still makes me wild!!!!

  • it's 1971 version long life to The Whooooooo

  • is this te 1970 version or the recent leeds one?

  • Led Zeppelin fans should listen to this and realize Who the real kings of Rock and roll are. No Contest!! Long Live The Who

  • This is the best live Roxk N Roll track ever recorded -- it's brilliant all the nuances of Rock here ..

  • Hold up man... I am a huge Led Zeppelin fan, but I love the who as well. They were a different band though

  • any body know what fuzz Townshend was using here?

  • Univox Superfuzz

  • Had the original vinyl of Live At Leeds and was thrilled to see the concert featured five more songs than could be mastered onto records at the time. Townsends' dynamics, his changing tone and band "drop outs" where he plays quiet, clean passages. Then Moon and John fill the whole thing up with tight, thundering bass and drums. Never heard such tone as John had, he was busy but deceptively calculated. Roger was close to Plant, not quite the range but who cares. No one sounds like him or Plant.

  • THEEE most awesome band EVER. Pete and Keith just did it for me. They were such awesome musicians....

  • Great performance of a Great song by a Great band. Need i say more?

Yes i do. This shows how awesome Entwistle was a Bassist, i think he's possibly the best Bassist (like Keith is in my opinion, the best drummer).

  • im not objecting with u, just expressing my opinion (in other words dont hav aemotional breakdown on me) i think keith is defnitley one of the best drummers of his time, but id say som drummers like neil peart are tied with him, same with entwhisle but i think geddy lee or flea a.k.a Micheal Bazalry (of the red hot chili peppers) are better, LOVE THE WHO!!!!!!!!!

  • Fantastic tone as well, and at times he's actually louder than Pete Townsend. Imagine this exact same concert but with updated gear, mainly amps and the pickups on Pete's Gibson SG. I can just hear it now - nonetheless, this is required listening for all new guitar hero wanna be's.

  • Entwistle's bass tone on this album has been known to kill animals and small children.

  • LOL

  • It could definitely split atoms.

  • @mysticblade35 And don't it HAS split atoms...

  • @mysticblade35 forget*

  • @mysticblade35 big children also

  • Best live version of the song.

  • Keith was an awesome drummer!

  • Yeah, still blows me away. I played but nothing like this

  • On the question of distortion I think it should be remembered that most amps in those days were valve based (Mullard EL34's etc) and not state of the art as we have today. Also the speakers were not of the same capacity as they are today

  • best version u right ma gegegeneration baby.. waouh !

  • love it.

    so good.

    AWESOME !

Why are people so stupid to listen to pop songs. you know that this is the best. yeah long live rock and roll ! q:

  • talkin' bout my gen gen generaton! My generation kicks ass! - The song and that era.

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Too bad this wasn't the full 10 minutes...I am trying to find it on Youtube to show some friends

  • On one Who LP I've got, Townshend can be heard introducing this as: 'and this is the long drawn-out intellectual one' - taking the piss out of Tommy and himself!

  • Best live album EVER

  • smothers brothers isnt that good personally well because it is a mime performance and this is the who at their best anyone agree??

  • Just put the volume up and enjoy

  • Sounds like Entwistle is using distortion

is he? or is it just those nice bright Rotosound strings?

  • its both ... he uses rotosound and distortion...

  • Oh cool thanks!

  • No distortion it is artifically induced here with the bass, he has the amp volume up so high that he's driving the power tubes and pushing that natural tube amp overdrive which will add some clipping to the signal and come across as distortion to the ears....

The who during this period was known for playing so loud (130 dec from 3 rows back) that the threshold of pain and permanent ear damage could result if you exposed your ears too long...

    In other words...

    It kicked azz!!........hehe

  • Cool!

That was some great information you gave me!

    Man permanent ear damage?

    The Who are fucking nuts!

    ahah

  • That's why John was deaf right before he died. Haha. I miss him.

  • Yeah...seriously!

    Entwistle was something else, man...

  • hell yeah man. RIP man

  • Whats with bassists dying? Entwistle, Burton, Lyton? Maybe its a cursed.

  • Lol I hope not, I'm a bassist too.

  • same here D:

    CHECK OX'S TONE YO!!!!!!

  • i disagree smothers bros. lacks the energy that this version has

  • for people that are saying that this is the best version ever look at the live at smothers brothers vid the bass is much better so are the vocals

  • Pretty sure that was all recorded other than bass mate.

  • nah thats live...

  • really ? Better bass than this one...hmm gotta hear that one!!!

  • wait nvm

i did't realize you were talking about the live version with the exploding drums

  • amazing bass

  • THE BEST LIVE SONG E V E R RECORD

  • Awsomeness

  • SUPER!!!

  • best version EVER EVER EVER

  • Best version of this song ever.
