Why would you bring a stock viper to the track? Get some decent coilovers to get rid of that horrible body roll...Then get yourself a 60" rear wing at least 14 inches high and some canards in front + front splitter/ rear diffuser. Then you will be able to actually take curves faster than a 1996 hyundai :P (I love the viper but unless its the ACR, you got a lot of work to do before its track worthy. Stock, its too easy to break traction in a curve..hence the needed downforce)
This video is good evidence of how good lotus performance is. Even though the viper is a lot faster in top speed and accelaration. This is just an Elise, very low rank model from lotus, see how an exige makes this car look, and lotus's can achieve what they achieve with economy levels of fuel compared to say the vipers. And probably wear out slower due to lighter weight. Lotus are awesome

i am not saying the viper is bad or the video but you have to race the best car of the lotus company because you are using the best car from dodge( witch is a crappy company in my standers.)or use the same cars from the same years. to make a real selection.
@shagboy1993 The 1993 Viper is hardly the best car from Dodge. In fact it is an absolute dog compared to a modern day Viper ACR. If you don't know what I'm referring to look up lap times for the Nurbugring for production cars. Eliminate the handmade, limited production cars and the Viper ACR tops the list by a pretty serious margin.
That's not to take anything away from Lotus, but it just is not in the same class as the Viper.
@early93viper Great driving, if you didn't overheat you could have taken him. It looked like you stay with him in the bends too, something for a big car like the Viper, vs a light car with a big wing on the back for downforce. Do you know why you overheated?
oooh i forgot to add, while the viper blows on curves. the exige wouldnt stand a chance on the straights. to bad mate. haha out of luck with them tricky curves
The Viper is great with curves just a bit tricky. Again I have a lot of experiance with my Viper and am an instructor at my track days. And if your watching the right Video the guy gives me the point by at the end.

I track with him often. I am not sure what it is about youtube (especially when I put up a video of me driving against the elise) but I just get these nieve comments like yours. By people that know nothing about tracking there cars. Or cars in general.
From hearing youre shifting and cornering abilities, I would say that you were a beginner racer. You are at a open track day where people can go to practice. Seems like the lotus in front of you is not really trying either and a beginner. Im sorry but I have driven both cars (vipers and lotus) and by far the lotus will blow away the viper at the track. Nothing wrong with that, just that lotus was made to corner and vipers have nothing but power.
