This was also the only take because George Martin wanted to record a "high fidelity" recording of the Beatles... like as if they were playing a concert for you. Everything just go, no editing or stopping and crossing mixes or tapes. This was brilliant at the time, even to hear this song because people were wanting the quality and to take their time to record in a studio. The Beatles fooled people in the studio by recreating a "live experience" ie. Meet the Beatles

This was the last song for them to record that day with the time given in the studio and John's voice was raspy and giving out due to a cold. John agreed to sing and you can even hear little voice cracks or jumps while he's singing and as much as it seems great and better/close to the Isley Brothers, he wasn't trying to do it on purpose!!!
