As you know, you are very good. It's frustrating though - I sometimes play just like this. It's like an 8 or 9 out of 10 where you can play the 10. It's not quite there is it? But very very good.
This is really weird. I did not mean for this comment to go to this video. I thought I was commenting on a "Kismet Rag" video! Must have been too sleepy to type responsibly. No, this performance is stellar. I have no advice, except maybe to myself :)
Good pickin' buddy! I grew up about 10 miles from where Merle Travis is from in Muhlenberg County, KY. Check out my friend Steve Rector here on YouTube when you get the chance.
Great instrumental....but to me, the tone or the sound of the guitar, is most important. Still the best ever, is the Super 400 of Merle Travis, but a close second was around 1960-62 in Hawaii when I almost fell out of my seat when Joe Maphis picked that tune...and I might add with Merle Travis perfection!!!! P.S. My memory is better than my pickin' even though I have that new model of the Joe Maphis Hallmark.
Haha loved it! I just just couldn't help myself from thinking Tommy's version was about to kick in , with the muted bass (bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum). Great vid, well played. ;)
I only played it for the first time at the weekend. I taught myself how to do it without any tab just listening to merle and got some advice from his son thom bresh on you tube and just worked it out there's one bit I have trouble with but I eventuly made something up so I got away with it. It's the one where you slide your first finger in the g chord but you half to use your thumb to help it. I can't really do it. I'm just used to using bar chords. Nice job keep picking.
Great guitar. He was not my guitar teacher over 30 years ago. But I'm proud to say I had a teacher who taught the theory behind the music, as I suspect he does. The pickin comes with practice, the rest comes with knowledge.
Ok, that takes the cake (even tho it''s not a cakewalk!)

Yeah, there's a few good string-rattlers there! : )
The father of Bluegrass music, Bill Monroe, was from the next County to the east, Ohio County.

is that larivee LSV 11 ?
licengswie 3 years ago
Nope, a LV-03R. The LSV-11s are great, though I'm not crazy about the wider nut width. I prefer standard.
