  • My mate works on some serious plant machines & from experience machines like this 360 do break off there Sluth so maybe this cable is stopping this from happening?

  • i think the cable is to act as a support, the scoop is stretching way out over the water and the cable is there so that the digger doesnt fall in, after all it would be carrying a huge amount of weight and most of it would be out of balance over the water.

  • @TheJosephagus no its to assist the lifting of the boom

  • no doubt the cable is for lifting the boom

  • @rotortilttt Someone asked me what the cable was for and I told them for assisting the boom because the materail is too heavy and they said no, and then i was like then why did you ask me what it was for if you already knew what it was for and he never responded. lol

  • @rotortilttt yepp, its loose all the time except when he lifts the boom, and what else should it be for? hehe

  • @rotortilttt exactly llol

  • OMG giant excavator

  • @LiviuJETIX Yeah!

  • This might be the biggest liebherr excavator on a pontoon, but the construction and configuration is really stupid. We are dredging with an excavator on a pontoon half as big, same depth with a biger bucket and without an A frame! Americans can't dredge, leave that to the dutch!

  • never seen an excavator with a rope on it´s boom ...

  • awesome great video 5/5

  • Because the shits heavy! Duh!

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but this BRUTE of a machine appears to need a cranes assistance to lift that relatively small bucket out of the water??? Why???

  • We towed for Great Lakes a few years ago, prior to the A frame hoist being added.

At the time they were digging a LOT of granite, and even though the rock had been blasted, some of it was a real bitch to break free, Christ they would pull the end of the barge down in the water a few feet curling the bucket trying to pop the rock loose, actually kinda violent.

I'm not really sure if they added the A frame to increase capacity or to speed up cycle times, but its not used all the time

  • Hmmm, I don't know if the assistance is to lift the weight, or some kind of guide. The machine and it's own weight seems enough to lift that, as it can then turn around and drop it without problems, And I bet all the structure weights far more than that "little" dirt it's lifting. But who knows... maybe when going underwater and taking all that the crane and that small cable is needed for some reason.

  • No offense but that makes no sense for a guide. It already has a boom mount for a guide, and if you look its only tensions when its lifting. Its to speed up cycle time and to help the lift pistons

  • This bucket is 25 yards, twice the size of a normal garbage truck. Its no way is small. It may look small but get upto it and it will make a pick up truck look like a toy.

  • Wow, a super machine!

  • That is one beast of a machine! I operate a 20 ton machine, and from being a kid always wanted to get on the big stuff. I think I would end up falling asleep on that monster... only for the pipe and slippers operator LOL... She does sound well though. Have you checked out the new liebherr 9800 vids on YT yet?

  • Yeah i seen those, that machine is a monster!!

  • My brother likes your videos, now I know how to entertain him.

    Thanks for uploading!

    =D

  • No problem..!

  • Cummins Power !!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-))))

  • i think its weird when something as big as this only takes 1 person to run it

  • Dude this is one of the biggest machines that i have ever seen on video! its awesome! The Fact that its mounted on the bardge is the cool part!

  • I dont know if shes been surpassed yet, but I know the New York is supposed to be the worlds largest marine excavator dredge

  • There is one more 996 dredge and its the exact thing to great lakes one but Great Lakes one has a longer/bigger boom and stick and the crane etc...

  • @rad3766 They are both Liebherr 996 Litronic Backhoe dredgers. There is more than one. Its an awsome machine

  • Great video!

But who the **** has built these engines(I know it was Cummings). They smoke like a coal power plant. Would someone please go up there and adjust the engine management system.

  • It is an old machine, 1999 it was built

  • Thats std for those Cummins engines in that machine, likely K1800 or K2000 i believe. That is not much smoke at all and atleast you know they are running compared to the smokeless engines of tody

  • There is nothing wrong with the black smoke you see coming from the machine. The motors are putting all of there power to the hydraulic system, which ( because of the machines massive size ) moves at a slow rate. Black smoke is exhaust, a bi-product of the un-burned fuel and air mixture that is not burned during the machines engine cycle.

  • No, Cummings makes chocolates. It's CummINS that makes engines like that.

  • This has 2 cummins k 1800 e's. Rated at 3000 HP each and 16 cylinder

  • awesome video nice job

  • Thanks!

  • Awesome video!!
