  • Good video.

  • What did you do to your Rifle???

  • a bore light in the back end of the bore would have been nice to see

  • the guns r yet being used by paki police

  • I went to four seasons guns. The salesman knew a lot about the mosin nagant. Every question i asked he had a quick and decisive answer.

  • ok im looking at some Steyr 95 Stutzen Carbine in the description it states: " Refurbished to excellent condition, but expect dark shootable bores. " what do they mean by dark shootable bores? like is it worn or what? n also who makes a good steyr 95 theres like s few different makes they list. Austrian, Budapest mfg makers that they have. n where can i find some the mag clips. thanks

  • sir, i greatly appreciate this vid. i thank you for this, wholeheartedly.

  • Mustard for lunch. Lol

  • Excellent advice - thanks dude!

  • m91 mosin's were factory sighted with the bayonet fixed. if no bayonet they will shoot quite high. if u have a bayonet, attach it, then try it. should shoot much better.

  • does every gun supposed to have rifling

  • @jkulesha All rifles should. A shotGUN will not have rifling, as it is not a rifle.

  • @Chad11491 You can buy rifled shotgun barrels for those who shoot slugs. This gives, as expected, better accuracy and range when hunting.

  • Excellent video. Very helpful and lots of good info

  • Excellent gun store/ gun show etiquette video, I hope more people watch it.

    Also, nice tips as well

  • Fantastic Series Vet, I appreciate how well and informative you made the video's.

  • the mauser and no a question for Iraq my 91/30 has riffling to the crown but is very light is that ok

  • i've got a question what is better british lee enfield or german mauser?

  • very scientific, im impressed.

  • Excellent guide.Very true what you mention about knowing what to ask for. It reminds me of the time when I first started going to gun fairs. Me trying to be smart and look at a Lee Enfield. I took the bolt out, but realised it was the early SMLE bolt which had the charger guide. I could not get the f*cker back in and looked like a true noob

  • NOTE: some rifles may have nicks on the barrel around the muzzle itself, but not effecting the muzzle, IE my L-E no.4 has a ding just outside of the recess of the muzzle, yet it's a tack driver

  • you have a bit of cosmo in the end of your yugo mauser cleaning rod

  • have you thought of refinishing that mosin?

  • dude, you're the coolest. You're prevent a ton of people that watch this video from being scammed, man. Kudos to you

  • How much did you pay for your 91/30?.......I bought mine at a local Dunhams store for $109, it was originally $200. But whoever sent it to the dunhams store screwd up bad, because it was an issued to a minestry of defense gaurd, (Gaurded the Tsar)........it was made by tula....but was packed in cosmoline and shipped straight from russia....it could have been sold for a reasonable amount of money........but it is a very good rifle.

  • the sights have been off on all my mosins like my m38 was off by 4 feet a 100 yards 'hit the other persons target' and now Im waiting on a '1929' m91 tula and the sights look off too but almost all of them do. should i put a scope on it if the sights are not accurate?

  • @airsofter95062

The sights can be adjusted by drifting the front sight base. If you look at the dovetail that the sight rests in, you'll see that there is a line scribed through both the post assembly itself and the base itself. This is where they are set up from the factory.

You can buy a front sight adjustment tool, and if you own any amount of Mosins, it is a good idea to invest in one. I think they are only like 15 bucks. Well worth it for adjusting your sights.

  • cool thanks for the info. I'll try ebay or some thing

  • can you give me a web site name for the tool im having no luck?

  • @airsofter95062

    pm sent

  • @airsofter95062

The rifles have been sighted in with the bayonet on at the factory, I garantee if you put it on it will hit the bullseye. Look up natural barrel harmonics and you will understand why it makes a difference.

  • @airsofter95062 damn, 4 feet at 100?? either your barrels bent or you need to adjust your sights dude

  • the best gun shop around is chargin about 120 for mosins, is that a rip off?

  • No...120 is about the going rate from a dealer. They are buying them for 80 bucks...

  • With any gunshop common courtesy and politeness goes a long way,it always pays to be extra polite and to keep negative thoughts to yourself! I have had some excellent deals in the past just from being courteous. The number of times I have been in shops and had rude/know it alls (I've been both sides of the counter,I used to work for a gunsmith!) come in and make idiots of themselves and brush the owner/s up the wrong way, they usually get stung and pay top book, just because they get up your nose!

  • I agree with you Stewart. I am not saying go in there and act like a know it all. I'm just saying that considering you know them a bit, you know what your bargaining chips are.

Think about my situation! Most of the local gun store owners know who I am and the type of youtube page I have.

They know I am a "deal finder"

  • Did you ever fire a FN model 1949? I was looking into buying one. This one is 8mm.

  • I used to own a lovely Venezeulan contract FN49 in 7mm Mauser.

I kick myself for selling because the retards at UPS BROKE THE DAMN THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Out of that contract only around 8500 were made and the gun I had was in MUSEUM quality and has a 3 digit serial number.

Triggers are a little stiff, accuracy is superb, cleaning and field stripping is very easy. Basically the grand daddy of the FAL.

The M16 uses gas inpindgment like the FN49 also.

8mm will be an Egytpian contract

  • You'll kick me for it, I got a nice Venezeulan contract FN49 with the sniper scope on it, oh it's so sweet, doesn't have the stamp in the stock but it is original. Got the Egyptian one too, will be getting ride of that, it's a CAI version.

  • Nice...I love the FN49. I'm looking into getting another one, but for the time being funds are a little limited so it will have to wait.

  • Way to address the counterbore. These surplus rifles are great. I picked up a SMLE No.1 Mk.1 (1906) in .303 British for a song. The shop thought they had a No.1 Mk.3. I didn't know much about Lee Enfields but I loved the rifle. Sent pics to a versed LE guy and the gun is worth several hundred more than what I paid for it. Also got a luck of the draw M44 at Big 5 for $89. 3 hours and a pound of cosmolene later I had a mint, unissued

    1948 M44. Great Vids!!!!!

  • I love it when the rifle is mis identified. I picked up a Swiss 1911 Infantry Rifle that the guy though was a K31 for 150!

  • Hey, I was wondering if $93 was a fair price for a 1944 mosin nagant 7.62 in flawless condition?

  • That price is below average, so yes.

A 1944 being wartime production may be slightly worse quality and will be a round type receiver. Not a thing wrong with them though. I have had round ones outshoot hex ones rarely.

  • 93 bucks is a no brainer..

  • Great series . . . thanks!

  • if you dont mind me asking, how much did you pay for the K31?

  • It was $179

  • What is a haggle card?

  • I am making sort of a joking reference to the types of "cards" people always throw out. I.E. (Race card)

Basically, I mean that you want to find some sort of bargaining fault that will give you some wiggle room on the price of the gun.

  • LOL

  • Lots of info .Good job .

  • Thanks for the support my man

  • You are probably looking in California...

  • How do you get the sigh hood on a Yugo m48? Mine came without one so I ordered one. But I can't get it on.

  • There should be these slots cut into the front sight base that the hood slides onto.

It could be possible that not all of the Yugo rifles were machined with slots for sight hoods although it is an unlikely theory.

It should slide on either from the front or back depending how the slots are cut. I have seen them mount both ways.

  • Thanks sir, its on now.

  • Good...The Mauser looks nice with a sight hood on it.

  • Excellent info for the new collector or buyer. Thanks for posting.

  • You're welcome

  • Quality is what i meant. Sorry just remember what i was trying to ask you.

  • The Hungarian rifles have I have seen are very decent. Have you seen any of the Hungarian M95 straight pull rifles. I think some were Austrian made as well. The quality of those rifles are decent I am imagine your M44 would share the same production quality.

  • well ive taking and done:floated the barrel and polished the chamber, and like i said in another video i polished the bolt and blueing with mothers and i think it looks pretty good.any thing else you would suggest to be done to the rifle. im getting 1 1/2,2 1/2 grouping at 100yrds with iron sights

  • There are a few other little things that will be covered in a series I have coming up in the next 4-6 weeks.

  • i have a 1953 Hungarian Mosin Nagant m44 which is in very good condition and excellent bore. how would you rate(your opinion)

  • Just curious here, how would you compare the recoil of a mosin 91/30 with a 20 guage using 3in. magnum shells?

  • @ERAplayer

Rifles have sharper, more sudden recoil, while a shotgun will have more of a rolling or slower recoil similar to black powder rifles. Just depends. All in all, pretty similar in terms of felt recoil.

  • laping compound and a marble will clean up a crown to some extent . just a fyi alan

  • @gracewthomas

I have had good luck with a brass machined screw and some lapping compound also.

  • Very nice video! Very usefull for people who have never bought surplus rifles. Thanks !

  • Thanks guy...

  • No problem. More to come.

  • good info, well done

  • I try...Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Excellent video! I'm a month and two weeks from turning 18 and getting my first rifle. Excellent information, excellent presentation.

  • Wow....you're counting the WEEKS....I've been in your shoes before. My first rifle I bought with my own money was a Ruger M77 Mkii all weather in .223 REM.

I have killed more deer and little critters with that rifle than any gun I own.

I bet I have about 1000 rounds down the tube in it....Will likely need a new barrel soon.

Thinking of .257 Roberts or possibly 6.5x55mm if the action legnth will fit it right....We'll see.

  • thanks for the info

  • : )

  • awesome video!
