  • WOW Mississauga City Centre was already a concrete jungle back then. Now, most of the buildings in the city centre are built in the 2000s. It's gonna be even jam-packed with highrise buildings stretching from Eglinton down to the QEW! It's really nice to see Mississauga transforming from a suburb to a mature city.

  • holy crap it is completely different now

  • my highschool dosnt even exist yet :O ?(bristol and hwy10)

  • @minulaptor what grade are you in? fuck whorevac

  • @guitarproexpert123 i was in grade 10 last year.... then i moved away

  • @minulaptor ohh, still in sauga>?

  • aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh i live in those buildings at 1:50 what a friggin trip out

  • WOW this looks nothing like mississauga nowdays

  • 10 and eglington is barren, so crazy to see there was nothing there aside from the esso. I wonder where all the timmies rats chilled back in those days lol.

  • You don't even have to say where this, when you see a shit load of buses in Mississaugha, your most likely by Square 1.

  • i live so clooose to here like were that building was

  • wow!!!! theres so many more buildings and cars now its amazing the difference

  • It's 1989 as said in the description

  • this has to be in the 80's...Hurontario only has two lanes between eglinton and 403...holy crap could you imagine that today? They need five lanes now. But yeah it seems like they were just starting to expand the road, I see dirt on the side...the robert speak condos arent up either, so this is definitely sometime in the 80's

  • Holy crap this is old footage, I never seen Mississauga with hardly any buildings.

  • no tim horton on britania damn how you lived without coffe and donuts..lol

  • 3:32 - LOL, it's strange to see Civics that old with NO rust on them!!

  • Awesome!! 5/5.

I should make a 1989 vs.2009 version of this and post it Side-by-Side.....

  • If you have the time and patience, you could do it with Google Streets by cutting and pasting the sequence of images and combining them to make a video...I'm in the process of doing that now with Eglinton.

  • 3:15-3:30...Eglinton Avenue lol

  • ahaha you turned on hurontario from Britannia!!! or was it derry?

  • From Britannia.

  • wow thats crazy shit it looks like its out in the country lol. Mississauga is canadas 6th largest city now i cant wait to see it in 10 years.

  • Wow. Mississauga has changed since the 80's.

  • wow that petro at the end was there even back in the day. haha i go to west 50 all the time!!

  • ya, the first right is onto hurontario south from britannia east. wow i didnt know that (what seems too look like a church) thing was there for that long. wouldnt be until

'93 when i moved there at 8 years old tho

  • Ahh the good old days. Now its a big ugly city with even uglier inhabitants.

  • I couldn't agree with you more! Feels like I am in a foreign country when I see women wearing bedsheets as cloths and strange red dots on the forehead. Creepy...

  • what a shitty place to live in

  • first intersection= Hurontario and Britannia XD

  • its so strange seeing hurontario without all the highrises and such.

  • Thanks for posting this and the other clip. I lived in Brampton, near Shoppers World, and remember this clearly enough 20 years later. I love seeing the old Mississauga Transit buses, Hurontario with ditches, the lack of highrises, and the Amazing how parts of Mississauga changed so much.

  • do you remember the water slide in shoppers world????

  • and that church in the beginning is still there lol

  • who's grandma is driving, or is the speed limit 40 km?

  • I've lived in England since 1996 but moved into the right of the 2 towers being constructed on Trailwood Drive, (2:00),in the Spring of 1990. This is pretty much how I remember the area when I first lived there. I'm sure it looks very different now!! Thank you for the memory.

  • my grandma and aunt lives there! :D

  • cool i live a minute away from u know ceremonial dr? Lol

  • I believe, it just passed where the Heartland Centre is located in today.

Some are recognizable but still it's strange.

I'm currently living around on Mavis Road and Bristol W.

  • do you drive by Kings masting by any chance or does anyone live in Kings masting?

  • I hate mississauga, this place is boring and too many people now, mainly immigrants. I take a bus ride and I'm the only white guy on the bus. It will soon be taken over by immigrants and will seize to be a Canadian city. It used to be a nice place 20 years ago.

  • its becuz if immigrants the city is so popular now u idiot.. you white ppl dont evn hav the brains to do anythin, so stop critisizin

  • Yeah popular with undesirables. I don't want you here.

  • amalcut i am wondering where ur family came from? Europe or Europe? ur an immigrant too ... can we say the white ppl occupied canada? and took it from the first nation ppl for example? mississauga is a wonderful city ppl from all the colors and backgrounds made it the great city it is now

  • that's the same reason i moved

  • I COULDN'T AGREE MORE. Immigrants really are taking over. I know that feeing where I'm starting to feel like the only white guy on the bus. The houses are plain and dull. White people moving out to Georgetown, Bolton etc. etc. URBAN SPRAWL mixed with THIRD WORLD IMMIGRATION at its FINEST! that's Mississauga today. Was a simple place back in the 80's n' early 90's.

  • @Vauxhall94 wow RACIST at its Finest, mayb your Gran parents were Immigrants too.

  • @jcarl100 Look. Despite calling me a racist, you can't deny the face that white flight is happening in Toronto. Why do think towns like Milton and Bolton are growing so much? Because Brampton has run out of space? Please. I know for a fact alot of these people moved to these places for that very reason. Oh, and another thing, I clearly said third world immigrants, not simply put as immigrants. But FYI, I'm an 8th gen. Canadian. Thanks. descent of immigrants. yes. descent of 3rd world imm. NO

  • @Vauxhall94 dude milton and bolton are growing for residential purposes. if u wanna look at the business side, then it is zeroooo. real economy comes from jobs that commerce provide, and milton residents earn money earned from toronto. its just that toronto is expensive , pple are moving out. the taxes of toront are fueling growth of those stupid towns like milton mississuga, brampton shit.

  • @skillcentre Totally. It's quite a shame really. brampton was once a small town. Look what it turned into.

  • WOW guy shit looks all the same !!!!

  • Wow. The good ol' days when you could drive from Brittania to Burnhamthorpe down Hwy 10, in the middle of the day, in under 10 minutes! Definitely brings back some good memories.

  • Well some things never change. Like the popular designation "Hwy 10".

  • whoa wtf ... the building with cibc near square one never existed at that time... never knew that lmao

  • damn this shit brings back memories

  • Mississauga disgusts me. It's way to overdeveloped now.

  • exactly..especially with brown people

  • your confusing it with brampton

  • that little old house on the right is still here from this day......trippy

  • Word eh lol

  • Mississauga is still a great place but it has been overdeveloped. A lot of people originally moved there for green space. When my husband and I were first married in 1987, we moved there from Toronto because it would be great to raise kids there, more like how we grew up (neighbourhood-wise). Now that the kids are mostly grown, I worry about them getting caught by stray bullets at Square 1. My dream would be to move to NW Caledon where development is limited.

  • bullets at square one? am I missing something? mississauga is pretty good. also there is the peel police office right in square one

  • look how small mississauga looked back then!!! it must be like 10 times bigger now!

  • LOL I did landscaping on that prominant white building you see on the right once the car turns onto hurontario last summer!! i didn't know that building is that old!! also, the little church u see on the corner on the left, that is still there but with alot more buildings around it!

  • excellent job. sad to see how built up the area has become. I moved here in 1979, back when Mississauga was full of cows and farms.

  • It still is full of cows :D

In reality, that's how I found this video, through a Google search for the cow incident.

  • wow. no sidewalks yet.

  • Pretty neat.... You can see Sandalwood Square just north of Hwy 10 and Eglinton... I put in several years at the grocery store there.

  • One thing hasn't changed though; ppl still call the damn street a highway. Doubly ironic since it doesn't even have a number anymore.

  • lol wow you could tell heartland was just going to get built just then. I love this place, my mom came here from Puerto Rico in 1977 since then she loved it.

  • Wow! Thanks for posting this!

  • Excellent footage on a glimpse of the past!

I'm guessing your camera was mounted on something, as opposed to a passenger holding it. It would be great to get some side views, like the old service stations - I'm curious what gas prices were like back then!

  • That's its called hi-way 10. Hurontario was a hi-way before like 403 and 401.

  • lol there stil that old church there still?lol

  • It is. It's a heritage building.

  • oh ok

  • wow it's changed so much

i know that in just the 2 years i was living in toronto, around 5 new buildings went up in the hurontario-burnhamthorpe area

  • Wow, I was moved to Mississauga when I was like 1 year old in 1991. Didn't know Hurontario was only 2 lanes at one point.

  • canada, mississauga easily best place in tha world i jus came bk frm holiday der it woz showaaa. i wanna liv der :(

  • Wow, MT Fishbowl!

  • And Orion I and Fishbowl artic.

  • Yes. I have videos of Hwy.7 (1988), Derry Rd (1988), the 401 (1991) and the 407 U.C. (1995).

  • wow man nice.. ive been in mississauga only since 2001. the 5800 hurontario (something canada building has been standing since then :) Then theres the kingdbridge condos under construction. no timmys at britannia/hurontario lol. and those kaneff buildings were there even then. and b'thorpe/10 is busy as ever. do you have any other videos from that time?

  • It was filmed in 1989.

  • Wow this must be from the 90's

  • ols skewl

  • woww its changed so much since then
