I DON'T REALLY HAVE MUCH RESPECT FOR THIS COVER AS HE IS TRYING TO IMPERSONATE AN ENGLISH ACCENT INTO HIS VOCAL STYLE AND HE AINT BRITISH SO IS JUST TRYING TO COPY THE ORIGINAL, SO YER STOP COPYING ARE BRITISH MUSIC JUST CAUSE YOU ARE JEALOUS YOU FUCKING AMERICANS, RUINED A CLASSIC 80S ENGLISH SONG.
@Dale21166 Go ahead and give us a call when your country actually invents some of these musical styles you are so proud of. Thanks for playing though.
@mrtricky1318 This style is post punk yer, actually fully called English post punk you know that genre just before the British invented punk music you know the sex pistols the band who started it, also the British may of not of created rock n roll but how the hell is shitty stroke face Elvis anything like the Beatles i dont know, they were a band as well, so yer in a way the Beatles perfected rock n roll in that way, hence them being the biggest thing in music ever oh yer BRITISH
@Dale21166 Why can't you just enjoy the song? Maybe enjoy both? No need to be such an idiot about it. He isnt trying to impersonate an english accent he always sounds like that
@EarthRimRoamer666 That's just Malkmus's nature. He does that kind of thing a lot. I always thought the things like that made Pavement great, the qwerky behaviour and a guy who has no need to be in the band.
I like it, the only problem I really had with it is in the chorus...I would have to check but I think that major chord change is from c min in the original to c maj in this version and it kind of gave the song a sour turn. They could have rocked it if they had stuck to echo's chords.
@theeeundead compare the instruments, echo's version has more production involvement rather than pavements straight forward raw cover interpreting the mysticism of the echo and the bunnymen, i have to say the leads add a sense of emotion echo definently couldnt match if they were to counter-cover if ud call it that
@theeeundead They took the raw song and changed it into their lo-fi indie rock style. I think the mysticism is still there, but I guess things like that are relative, you even see it or you don't.

This version lacks the beautiful, sad, eeriness of the original. Don't like 1:42 at all.. Just my opinion.

I love pavement, but i prefer the original version of Echo and the bunnymen, both are very similar anyway, not big changes between one and the other.

I do not like this ]: Where is the mystism Echo and the Bunnymen portreyed? Thats the whole reason I like this song in the first place...
