  • Why do so many people have so many negative comments to make? I think what you are doing is wonderful. Those who criticize so easily should try it themselves. Keep up the good work!

  • OMG! I wish I could bake something like that. We just fixed our oven but I think it will take a loooong while until we will be able to bake something eatable. For now, it is just smoke all over the place hahaha

    Very informative, thank you!

  • yuk! who likes hair in their bread? not me, otherwise it looks very very good.

I have a brother in law who prepares food like this, we have found arm hair in the food

so often, he no longer cooks, and to think he is supposed to be a high class chef....

but we love him anyway, we just dont let him mix by hand and arm anymore

  • if you put 3 tabelsppon of honey for every 1.5 kilo of dough you will have real treat :D

  • cooking starts 17.00

  • can you use the oven during winter or will it crack up/break or not maintain proper temp?

  • When you rake the coals out you can put them into a container with a tight cover on it and save them for later. That's a lot of good charcoal you made there, why waste it? Grill!

  • thank you for taking the time to post this, it is going to help me get my time line together for bread in my oven....so far I haven't filled it with bread and having you show me how it's done is awesome!

  • Does it HAVE to be baguettes every time, or can you wait to cool to a certain temp for larger or round loaves?

  • Ah, but the taste of that bread is nothing short of heaven! Quite unlike the bland, sugar and color-loaded mass-produced loaves sold at the supermarket.

  • That's one hell of a lot of wood for a bit of bread! And SIX hours! Mmmmm.

  • @patisserie1 a) The child is not "playing" with the dough. She is helping bake.

    b) Children are no more inherently dirty or infectious than adults. Why is it ok for an adult to bake bread and not a child?

    c) The internal temperature of baking bread reaches no less than 190ºF. No food bug survives that kind of exposure.

    d) A foodservice license is no guarantee of sanitation. It is a business tax. I'm sure Podchef has been ServSave® certified, and a restaurant only needs the supervisor to be so.

  • dommage que l'on n'a pas la recette ?

et le debut de la vidéo est trop longue..

  • great video. im going to start baking bread! :)

  • Somebody get this guy an oven mit !

Excellent and Informative as always :) Love the persona... should be on tv

  • Do you do this in a regular basis and only eat your own bread?

  • Have you ever tried the no-knead method made so popular by the food writer for the New York Times, Mark Bittman?

  • @Mrwiserfoodie Yeah, I'd say Bittman's recipe is good for people like me, who live in apartments and can't afford 10,000 dollar brick ovens. The texture is similar to what the guy pulled out of the brick oven, using just a dutch oven sitting in a conventional oven. And it only takes maybe a half hour to prepare. That is good bread, though someday I like to try out a large brick oven.

  • Thanks. Well done, educational and entertaining video.

  • Love it. Enjoy the taste. You deserve it.

  • Hi excellent video. Have you tried wholemeal bread in your outdoor oven? Also do you use organic ingredients? Thanks for this very informative demonstration.

  • are those bread for your family or do you sell?

    or

how long can we able to store bread

  • won't pine give that terpetine smell/residue

  • well you know I think 1500 degrees is hot enough to burn all of that out.

  • basic chemistry theory teaches us that nothing turns in to nothing. (matter remains as material) are you saying that it is hot enough to evaporate the relevent residue or it has been oxidized and therefor inert?

  • is burned ink from newspapers safe?

  • @tk2026 it's usually soy based so it's fairly safe

  • Is all of that bread for your families personal consumption or do you sell some of it?

  • Where do you get the wood?

  • Great video. Good to see a full length and full use of the oven. Just building an outdoor oven now, so this stuff is great!

  • whats with teh video quality...so dark

  • The video was shot just before dawn, according to the video author.

  • Wow! When the grocery stores are finally empty you guys are gonna make it...This is the way we all should start living.

  • this is cool

  • awesome video...

  • A couple of questions. What temperature are you aiming for when you're baking the bread? Also, what do you do with all of the baked bread? I can't imagine it keeps for very long.

  • Thank you Neal, your videos are always great learning. I love the oven...it does look like a lot of work...do you sell the bread somewhere?

  • Can I have that bread recipe? For making about 4-6 loaves?

  • Cool!

  • what do the donations go to?

  • The donations go to help support the costs of bringing you these videos. They also go to support the weekly podcast and blogs.

  • What do you do with all that food so it doesn't go bad?

  • @Podchef Does what you burn effect the taste?

  • nice the sound matches the video, woot!
