  • This has inspired me to paint my orks in a similar fashion.

  • EPIC WIN!!! that is awesome

  • That Desert Yellow/Badab Black wash Ork shade is amazing. Definitely using that for my boyz. Much thanks!

  • what happned to the inks?

  • @leyniapi They were replaced with washes

  • Could I use knarloc green and go over that with devlin mud

  • Would these look good with goblins aswell?

  • This gave me alot of ideas thanks alot great vid

  • from 6 seconds he looks a liitel bit evil

  • nice colours ;)

  • @miniwargaming this is an awesome tutorial, i really enjoy the ones like this, so basically thanks Mike the Necron Guy, you are awesome!

  • Does painting ork's different colours make a difference to the rules? I kinda like the red colour of the evil sunz, but will it effect the rules of my army like space marines? im not much of a vehicle person so it wouldnt be good if it did, plus i might have random colours, will that ruin my rules?

  • @Wormie356 Orks are a rag tag bunch. They take whatever armor and weapons they can find. Making different colors would only add to the scavenging nature of the orks.

  • can you please do a vid on paining all the steps... of a deff dread? plzZZZZZZZZZ

  • after watching when i saw his arm i thought why isn't it green then im like oh yeah hes a human

  • Awesome orks

  • i still like the idea the darker green you go the higher up the food chain the ork is!

  • Gretchin Green+ Badab Black= Best

  • do you guys know of a good whay to paint blood ax orks because i cant find any on them and the ones i do find aren't very good and truthfully i do not want to pay some one to do it. can you help me.

  • you cant just raqndomly pick up a bottle. your subconscious KNOWS what colour paint is in that weirdly shaped bottle for example, or what colour is in that bottle with dry paint crust on the side, or the one with pealed sticker labels, or where that yellow bottle is placed when you reach out to grab it. even when you try to not get THAT bottle, youre lurking toward another bottle you know what colour it contains.

  • i like that desert yellow with black wash

  • a skin tone i use for m marine ( 40k ) and empire (warhammer) is bleached bone for a base then a light layer of flesh wash, to much flesh wash and the modle is ruined

  • Paint them knarloc green. And then wash them with a 50/50 mix of thraka green and badab black... works for me!

  • elen Dank mike!

  • Is it the same as whfb where the darker orks are stronger ? like the Black orks

  • the music was made better by Dave's WAAAAGH

  • i know this isnt really what the vidio is about but im just starting out and the only bit i have real trouble with is painting the eyes and ive not seen any tutorials that include it

any tips for doing the eyes without ending up covering half the guys nose or lip?

  • @MegaMatt333 you just need a really thin brush and steady hands. Dont put a ton of paint on the brush just a dab on the tip. And always remember "Less is more" you can always add more paint to the model its a lot harder taking it off.

  • nice waaaggggggghhhhhhhh

  • i just use knarlock green, that works quite well. thats it. just knarlock green for the skin i base it with flat black paint. and knarlock. it looks pretty good ta me.

  • WAAAGH

  • this is so fantastic! brilliant idea!

  • i think , that this is sick

  • i have three shades of green that i use.

  • n1 m8

  • Get a new kind of music i cant watch the vid because it.

  • This is an awesome idea, can't wait to do it on my growing/unpainted ork horde.

  • He has a shaky hand. Still, very nice paint job.

  • excuse me,which colours for 2.53 ork? he says desert yellow, green wash(i supose thraka) and orgyn flash wash on top?how do i put the last one on top?just like every wash?

  • @Satiro88 yep

  • wow this looks great

  • awesome ive tried this and put it on some of my orks check it out WAAAAAGH !

  • WWAAGGGHHH

  • I have a comment about the yellowish-green colored ork.The color is awsome but i would like to use that color scheme for my ork army. Also which green wash did you use?

  • there is only one Green Wash

  • its traka green ya ima gonna use it in my bad ass waaaaagh

  • i like camo basecoat whit a tranka green wash its easy and nice

  • try bleached bone, 1 devlan mud, then 2 thraka green

  • @Alienerd i have tried that and it looks very nice but ..... it looks odd in some way

  • Waggh!

    lol

  • Ha I love that line "be there or be dead" lol

  • too bright for my taste but still wellmade

  • 3:13 shaky

  • interesting ideas

  • Try leathery flesh, like OG orcs

  • your very good, i only paint one coat on the skin... and i dont have the workshop brushes

  • Comment removed

  • depends,if u paint all bits than glue, well be careful not to use much glue which spills over the paint which than u have to repaint which is very annoying

  • Question: Whats the best way to paint your models? Is it better or easier to paint them before there asembled or after?

  • i say its a hell of alot easyer to paint be for asembaly but it drives you mad with bordem, but you get better detail

  • personally.. I find it's easier and better with before they're assembled, but depends on what kinda models, like ork boy (shoota) glue everything together except the gun hand should be enough, main reason i do that is because if you glue everything (example shoota again) then it's hard to paint/get to chest cause hands and mainly the gun is in the way, just go by with what you find is most comfy for you, like normal boyz might be fine with glued since melee weap is up & hand w/gun is forward

  • make them then paint them

  • i need a chaos flesh

  • my skin is really weird but looks great. it is like this.

    chaos black

    knarlok green

    camo green

    badaub black wash.

camo green layered on raised areas

    devlan mud wash

camo green layered on raised areas

  • I make a really nice skin color by painting desert yellow and then applying a thick layer of thraka green, it can look quite realistic.

  • i do mine camo green which is pretty good

  • i put a basecoat of catachan green and then a wash of badab black and then a highlight of knarloc green and then another wash of badab black

  • How will you do your Nobz or Warboss? Will you narrow down your colours so you only have the dark shades?

  • the desert yllow with black wash dosnt work?

  • mix desert with dark angels green will be better

  • you guys need an HD camera, would make your vids alot better

  • They..do...hit HQ at the bottom right corner?

  • notice he said HD (high-definition) not HQ (high quality) :P

  • this is a sick video, ty minwargaming!

  • mine are blue orks. do a base of dark blue then drybrush ice blue over it and it looks like a troll

  • HD video PLZ!

  • miniwargamer mike can you show us a how to paint orks... skin and armour/weapons? that would be great! im new to ork but im buying assault on black reach and all these paints from ur store soon and i wann know what i should buy for the armour... thanx!

  • @chaosdaemons666 look a little bit through youtube, there are such a huge amount of How to Paint orks, you just have to search

  • @chaosdaemons666 For Orks you will need the following. Fine tip brush, broad tip brush, dry brush; for paints: Chaos Black, Skull White, Devlan Mud, Thraka Green, Badaba Black, (any shade, your choice) Brown, Green, Gunmetal, Mithril, Red. Thats just basic colors, but a lot will depend if your gonna go with a clan of Orkz.. Snakebites, Goff, etc etc. Then the colors could very. I paint all mine via washes and use mithril, blood red, chaos black for details. Enjoy!

  • I tried Desert yellow and drybrushed Sunburst yellow on one of my Orks, it came out pretty well.

  • I have to add, when I painted in the Sunburst Yellow the Desert Yellow color wasn't totally dried yet.

  • all mine are same color green, but not florescent...

    Woot 100th post

  • im gonna paint mine like this now thx

  • i wish i had all those paints

  • It's such an expensive hobby....

  • I know $4 for 1 freakin paint! and the figs are like $15-$80!

  • you should buy off ebay :D

  • yeah but they are already painted

  • u mean 12$-600$/700$ (titans cost ALOTTTT)

  • Comment removed

  • yes of course but the key is , taking ur time ^^ take a weak or two for painting a regiment , this way , they will be awsome and it will give you the time to get the money for something els

  • sounds good, and makes sense too. I'd imagine Orks are nomadic aliens so they would join up with others from other planets and so on, and different environments would give them different skin colours also.

Im using camo green or goblin green drybrushed over catachan green at the moment, but it never crossed my mind to use brown. Thanks for the tip, ill take anything i can get to make my Orks look individual.

  • banana ork?

  • lol banana ork FTW

  • Haha! I've just done this with my own orks, I thought I'd stumbled across a new technque. Clearly not!

What I do is Gretchin Green over everything, then mix up all the washes you named in varying amounts and layers. Gave me a good result, like yours!

  • ur a dork

  • That just made me laugh lol

  • Did you start with a white or black primer?

  • he started with a black

  • Hmmm, since everything is black, I'd say black :p

  • WAAAGH!!!!!!

  • another gamer with shaky hands lol. makes modeling and painting a bit harder.

  • Thats where the washes come in handy. :)

  • :*( i have shaky hands too

  • same :'(

  • this is awesome, well done bro on this vid

i just basecoated all my assault on black reach orcs ready to paint and saw thing and completely gonna do this. looks easy, fast and hell effective.

which is what i want when painting 40 orcs because it gets abit brainmelting at times lol

    all in all awesomeeeee

  • these orks look fantastic im gonna mix up tones when i get orks as well

  • these guys are great

  • its how they spam

  • Who?

Miniwargaming? I doubt it. I mean, this is the first time its ever happened.

  • Very useful tips. Thanks.

  • sigh...i wish i had the time to highlight and such. I just paint my BT there different colours and dont bother adding any sort of effects except on my HQ's

  • Very nice idea!

  • MiniWAAAGHGaming

  • damn, you cosed the sail right on my birthday but still the ork look cool

    (o) (o) 0 ~

  • i guess this sorta thing could work with skaven too mike?

  • that helps me alot !!! i finally got some boyz and lootas & burnas . the lootas & burnas are soooo hard to put together :S but they will look well good when they are finished

  • i'm really gonna do this!

  • nice i do it for my orks and can you do one for spaace marines plz i am space marines i have both so me and my dad or brother will play with me

  • I like snakebite leather blended up with different ratios of snakebite leather and white, and then when its almost bleached bone I wash with thraka green, badab black and then gryphonne sepia, although this, looks just like the desert yellow one, might try that

  • Your hands were shaking like you would have been freezing your ass off.

  • the music is annoying

  • i love the start he just goes waagh

  • Mike the Ork Guy!

  • nice thats pretty helpful, thanks

  • great job man. with my orks sometimes i drybrush a little brown to make the green look a little more natural

  • i don t use washes whats the point of them?

  • Washes can be the most amazing thing that you use when painting.

They change a block of colour into a brilliantly shaded masterpiece.

Take a colour like Chainmail. Give that a Badad Black wash. You've gone from a really bright silver colour that doesn't look like armour, to a brilliantly shaded armour that is dark in the recesses and lighter on the raised details.

    Highly recommended!

  • I agree, they require almost no effort, and in return you get a fantastic model!

  • washes sink into the recesses of the model. instead of using a dark color and drybrushing your highlights, u can start with a light color and add a wash over the top.

  • should i buy them?

  • it depends on your own preference, if u like to drybrush and highlight, thats fine. personally i prefer to use washes. then add another layer of the basecoat to highlight. and then a lighter color ontop of that

  • where do you get camo green from ???

  • Gammes workshop stores or their online store

  • Strange, I've got to try this on some of my Boyz. I've still got 29 more to go! LOL

  • awesome vid

  • I got a small problem with my fine detail WH brush 00. After painting over 40 or so figure the tip becomes blunt and don't remain sharp anymore how do you guys make those tip sharp and stiff so as to paint fine details?

  • You can usually use some plastic glue and put it on the tip and twist.

  • Thats a novel idea thanks but do I need to wash off the glue b4 using the brush or just soak it in water and then use it?

  • aaaagh to u too lol XD

  • Mike you could work as a Quentin Tarantino look-a-like

  • WAAAGH... really an awesome video... not just for the way orks are painted or how you explain but just for the topic... I agree with you that a mixed palette is more "natural" than a flourescent green :D

  • WAAGH

  • I could use this for my IG Veterans!

    (the armor)

You know, like a bunch of guys from different units with different armor. Eh?

  • very good vid ^^

  • Brilliant idea i will defenetly try this with my orks :) , thanks

  • can you make some videos on lotr strategy game coz all u do is 40k

  • Yeah!

  • I think they only really do 40k,

  • that's legit, my beef with the orks was that they seemed to have sort of a bland pallet but now i really want to play them.

  • i love this :D

  • nice

  • i got a 40 orc on ironclaw server name is grimgox and brightwizard on monolith named koris

  • what game warhammer online: age of reckoning?

  • no the other warhammer online

  • well he didnt say what game he was playing so I asked him

  • does say warhammer online around 0.21ish :P

  • warhammer online!

  • very nice. i was wondering why you didnt put metal highlights on the weapons and armor, though.

  • Ah i really like that idea man, at least theres some variety in that ork horde instead of the same old green.

    good job!

  • wow, i love the variation in the horde

it adds more character to it :D

  • awesometastic as always!

  • sweet

  • Where do I make my custom brushes??

  • is there segregation between the yellow and green orks? ork racism

  • cant wait till the sale

  • Oi i got onyl 1 fing to say and dats WWAAAGGGHHH

  • Niz job bosz

    DAKKA DAKKA!

  • great job

I do pretty much the same thing.
