Save yourself the trouble Bill. Stick to Billy Mack, you'll get more empathy.
This is U.K in 2012. This is the Land of Football, Celebrity Worship, "Eastenders" Corrie, X Factor, cheap beer, cultural division, obesity and welfare dependency.
We are a nation of drones, blind to everything beyond our personal gratification and immidiate interests. Thats why Bankers thrive.
I wish you well. But our last sense of unity and decency as a Nation was Live Aid '85.
@jgw2001 no the govt does not print money and give to banks, money is seldom printed these days 98% of money is electronic. It is created by banks out of nothing then loaned to the ppl and the govt at interest.
This is the biggest ponzi scheme in the history of the planet
Like the spineless Clowns that they are,the banksters will show interest, ooh and aah at the right moments, then do a runner when it comes to facing up to any kind of reality!
I'm with you Bill - let the 'shoulder shruggers' provide their own therapy - there is a growing army of activists ready to fight these IMF inspired Con Dem cuts and support a Robin Hood Tax.
Robin Hood's band of outlaws are increasing in numbers and determination as the equal and opposite force to the austerity programme and bankster attacks upon our living standards, while they give themselves millions creamed from our taxes! Good Luck Bill, you have my full and unequivocal support in al this!
Jesus Christ kicked over the tables of the bankers2,000 years ago,did he change anything? no they nailed him up.and 2,000 years later the bankers still run the show. They always fuckin will.
It is the Kenyan government's responsibility to improve the lot of its citizens and their failure to do so should not be ignored in favour of populist banker bashing. You should invite Labour party members on this trip as punishment for their reckless spending and incompetence in regulating the British economy, or maybe Bill Clinton for the repealing of the Glass-Steagal act. I do not see why bankers would want to go on this trip when they could be working and providing substantial tax revenues.
This guy acts like the banksters actually care about people other than to rob them. I think he has been sniffing glue! Ya, the banksters are going to get all chocked up seeing people looking for food at a dump! Riiight!
@Duffweiserable, i didn't actually, all i meant was there are too many do goodersmin this country more interested in other countries rather than our own people who are struggling.
@gytymo There is also a heavily uneven distribution of wealth within the country that could cure a lot of the deficit in a heartbeat. At the end of the day, the world is getting smaller. Nairobi, or any third world atmosphere deserves help from those that can give it. I don't remember hearing Bill say 'anyone, regardless of financial situation, get involved'. I heard him call out those that can afford to. Due to their own selfishness.
hi duff, yes i see your point about wealth distribution etc, but regarding those who need help, there are thousands of elderly in our own country who are struggling financially, why should we dismiss these people in favour of others outwith our borders, then there is india with their own space program etc and yet we are giving them aid why?
@gytymo that is a fair point yes, i guess thats the plan of the so called 'Big Society' though to help that. The same applies to britain with the Trident project. i'm not up on figures for this but its a few billion more than we can afford.
@Duffweiserable, i didn't actually, all i meant was there are too many do goodersmin this country more interested in other countries rather than our own people who are struggling.
Flippin' brilliant Mr Nighy - thank you so much! We need brave souls like you who are willing to stick their necks out and say it like it is! Of all the savage cuts proposed by this monstrous coalition government (which has NO MANDATE) was it welfare reform, slashing vital services for the elderly, impoverished and disabled, that finally galvanised the Great-and-the-Good to speak out? NO! It was the threatened forestry sell-off that got their danders up. Bless you sir! Please be my MP!!!
...I can actually visualise the response of the Bankers already. I can hear them bleating about "stifling initiative" "repressing the free-market" or "losing our top-talent" etc, etc.
We need some serious public anger and focus being brought to bear on this matter. The likes of Bob Diamond/Stephen Hester/ Fred Goodwin and their ilk have been Pissing on this country long enough and insisting that it's raining.
be critical if you want but i sense there are changes coming in society big march coming and people are waking up to the Thatcherite greedy bastards we share this planet with
@kankuch0 If they show up at all lol. I wonder how long he'll have to wait for these 'busy' bankers to finish their golf matches or 7 course lunches? Perhaps they're 'busy' taking their E-Type out for a morning spin.
Great idea. I fear they will not do it unless we keep them under pressure. I had a similar idea a few years ago, to charge an extra penny for every McDonald's & all big food chain stores transactions to feed the starving world. Under pressure from the public they'd be forced to do it. They couldn't say no as they'd lose face & customers, we play a psychological game with the capitalists. They would probably charge more so they don't lose a penny :/ but tbh, that would still feed the Third World.
@Missundaztood91 Not a bad idea, but I still wish people would buy their food somewhere than McDonald's else or even learn how to cook... We all have the choice what we buy and where, it does make a difference. And we can choose which bank we support, too.

The problem is NOT the banks. Its Government BAILING out the banks
Its government control over INTEREST rates which caused the housing bubble.
Its Government printing money out of thin air and giving them to banks
Its Government bank guarantees which encourages risk taking.
Its Government over regulation that restricts competition and encourages even more risk taking and unfair profit making.
Its not the Banks but Government which has caused the mess.

@jgw2001 I agree. In a capitalist system the banks would not have been bailed out. It's socialist interfering that is causing the problems.
