The thing about Automatics is they allways shift the first gear short, so they generate less HP. It's to preserve optimum mileage.

Maybe someone can answer my question. Im thinking about getting a 2010 ford focus se 5speed and i was looking at the dash and realized i dont know how i can change the radio. Is there a kit or something? All i want to do is put a new radio and Subwoofer in it and call it good

Metra makes one and the part number is 99-5816 for the dash kit and the harnesses-sync retention harness part # is AFSI-02 or the xsvi-5220-nav for non amplified and standard audio system. I believe the 03 and up plug that the 05 focus and up uses is also valad for this install. And last but not least it will need an antenna adaptor # 40cr10.

Keep the stock deck, and just put in a subwoofer. Bestbuy can probably do it for you.

I have the 09 5spd and the auto run 50 in 1st....guess what....the sticks run 50 in 2nd. those gears are wayyyyyy to tall....the 5spd is a blast =)

Agreed! I have a 2009 Focus SES that is also 5 speed manual and it has more pep than my brothers 08 automatic Focus.

Yeah really, I hit 35 at the limiter in 1st, 60 at the limiter in 2nd.. 85 at the limiter in 3rd, 115 at the limiter in 4th (I didn't get past 4th, kind of hard to remember to go into fifth doing 115 on a bumpy hilly road!!

The limiter on my 09 5spd is right before 115, it's like 113. Pretty frustrating when I was at the limiter with a galant right on my ass knowing I could have gone faster.

this car felt slow as shit when I drove one... SES DOHC and all, 2009... I stepped out of my '95 Chevy Beretta V6 and into that thing and that car felt like it was in it's own way until it hit about 4500 RPM's... leaning more and more towards the new mazdaspeed 3, little extra dough but much more kick in the seat power.

been driving standard for years, currently in a mazdaspeed 3, only comes in a 6 speed. lots more fun that any US focus... now if I could get the Euro Focus RS... then It'd be fun to own a focus... but ford wont be bringing that over in the foreseeable future

Have you ever driven a SVT Focus ? According to many auto journalists it's one of if not the best handling FWD car, and they consistently tear it up in SCCA events and autocross. Good choice on the MS3 though, they're great cars and can be really fast with some mods.

Oh and the only reason I said "learn how to drive a stick" was because you test drove an automatic, I would have thought anyone looking at a Focus would have test driven a manual

couldnt find a manual anywhere local... all the dealers buy the "most marketable models" ... which means auto's... never even seen an SVT focus anywhere near me either... northwest ohio... not too much in the way of sports car territory. and I'll have to research the 2011/12 date for the euro focus... havent heard anything about that. thanks

Yeah 5spds in the new model are not very common, my dealer here in Kansas City only had 2 manuals out of like 40 Foci, and I got one of them : ) Also you can find just about anything you want to on focus fanatics [dot] com.

Also if you go to fiesta movement [dot] com you might be able to drive the new fiesta before they're released, they have multiple groups of them accross the country right now.

No Ford discontinued the SVT Focus after the 2004 model year, in 2005-07 the sportiest Focus you could get here in N/A was the ST. A 4dr 5spd with a 2.3L (151hp) duratec and SVT suspension bits.

The engine is right but that transmission looks like a 4 speed.

That car seriously needs the 5 or 6 Speed automatic from Fusion.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Having driven a couple before, 1st gear is WAY too tall (notice you get to almost 50 mph). If they put in a 5-speed auto on the next one then it would be a substantial improvement. At 140 horsepower the engine has lots of power, but just can't quite deliver it all. The existing automatic Focus is a decent performer, but a 5-speed auto Focus would be downright fun.

You are right about the manual but This generation Focus up to the current 2011 which is the same as this Never got 6 Speed Auto. The Upcoming 2012 Focus while have a 6 Speed Auto. Similar Dual Clutch Auto as the Fiesta but beefier to handle the extra weight & power.

What I don't understand is why They didn't at least apply the 5 Speed Auto used in the 2006-2009 4 Cyl Fusion. This car just begged for it. Anyways, we just have to wait for the good stuff coming Summer 2011.
