These rifles are allowed if you have a fixed magazine or magazine release with use of a tool IE Bullet Button. It's basically a hole you have to use a Tool / Pen / Bullet and you use the tool insert and the magazine falls out. Stupid and Prevents NOTHING!! People making california laws have NEVER served out country!!

I live in New Zealand. Our gun laws are alright, we are allowed most things, but the Police administers the firearm ownership and they seem to have a negative bias againts gun owners. Everyone must have a license and a gun rack. For semi-auto assault rifles (not really, because semi is not select fire), a 6mm thick safe is required, but only if you can get a endorsement for said type of rifle.
Auto guns are only allowed if you are a bonified collector with the appropriate endorsement on the firearms license. But they are not allowed to be fired.
Also... in the video he says he's going to try and find 20 round magazines for it. I hope you're planning on modifying them to be 10 rounds before you bring them into the state. We have a shitty 10 round limit here. Somebody please save us from our crappy gun laws!

One quick comment, seems kinda funny to get the big caliber .308/7.62x51 rifle and a little 9mm back up peice. But in all honesty I love both guns I have a pair of Custom Glock 22 .40 cal and am going to further customized. However, I really want both of the guns you have! Love the M14, it's an intimidating weapon and the Glock just sets the standard for reliability and gives you that warm feeling that lets you know you are safe with one in hand.
I got one of those and that new muzzle break sends lots of the Gases pressure back toward thew shooter, it does cut recoil and muzzle jump but it is one LOUD rifle and hearing protection is a must for the shooter.
Very nice. I've been looking to get one of the SOCOM 16s, as I love my full sized M1A, but would like a shorter version, as well. While I'm not too fond of the SOCOM versions with the forend of the stock covered in rails, the tasteful and purposeful little scout rail on top could be pretty nice.

good luck on getting any high capacity magazines here in calif. i have a mini-14 ranch rifle and its impossible to get h/c mags unless you get in your car and drive to vegas, on 3rd street and the strip,go east two blocks ,and you'll find them there .they also have a shooting range where you can shoot fully auto weapons.

Absolutely, if they misnamed them. They're similar in most all respects, outside of the firing modes, and the manual's probably there to provide a 'military' feel.

The m14 is select fire, but many of them were converted to semi only during and after the Vietnam war, starting around the time the m16 was changed over to burst for the same reason, to conserve ammo, but are still m14's in either configuration. The m1a is just the civilian version, which has no provision for the selector switch even if the stock has the cut out. Mil surplus (most of which klinton burned up)that were so modded, could be returned to select, m1a's can't
I was talking about m14's not m16 conversions. Whan I said the m16 was changed, i was referring to the full auto to burt fire change as in a1 to a2. I wasn't suggesting the m16 was converted at all.

yeah i would prefer m1a1 over m-4 any day. but iv'e heard it said m-14 is to wild to control on full-auto. to me i would see it as a sniper rifle of a budjet constraint. m-4 is close quaters ,m-14 is a distance rifle. what do you think????
yeah its long range and 7.62 vs. 5.56 the m1a blows an m4 away. so much more knock down power. any way who needs full auto it only takes one shot to kill some one unless you're aim sucks. any way nice video i'm planning on getting one springfields are legendary for accuracy. i would prefer the m1 garand or m1903 but thaey don't make them anymore (long since decomissioned) but the m1a is still awesome

is the m14 a 7.62mm or a 308 win ive heard things like there the same thing and that there interchangeable and the 7.62 is a Russian round and its 2mm longer somebody help me
The 7.62x51 and the .308 win are NOT the same round. There are very small differences between the two, but if ignored the results could be bad. As a general rule, a rifle chambered for a NATO round (the 7.62x51) can fire that round as well as its calibrated version of the .308 win. However, the opposite is not true for rifles chambered for .308 win. My opinion would be to know what your rifle fires, and stick with that exclusively.
Correct. If you're interested in shooting both with 100% confidence though, I'd look for rifles designed to be fired with both, such as any rifle having a Wylde Chamber.
Not so much upgraded, just changed. It comes minus a selector switch which allows it to only fire semi-auto. Other than that the materials used don't really qualify as mil-spec, so they aren't as rugged as they once were. I'd still love to own one though!

G19 is the compact version of the G17 which has a smaller frame, 2 less rounds capacity, and a shorter barrel (by about half an inch).

good luck on getting any high capacity magazines here in calif. i have a mini-14 ranch rifle and its impossible to get h/c mags unless you get in your car and drive to vegas, on 3rd street and the strip,go east two blocks ,and you'll find them there .they also have a shooting range where you can shoot fully auto weapons.

so i was just wondering how accuract is the m1a scout because i am looking into buying a new rifle and its a toss up between the m1a scout or bushmaster carbon 15 m4 so i waswondering whats your take seeing how you own an m1a and i can assume youve handled the m4 since you said your back from iraq

I noticed you called it an M14; actually, this is an M1A. M14s are select-fire, and M1As are semi-automatic. Just clarifying -- nice vid, nice rifle.

I'm pretty sure I said civilian version of the M14. I dont feel like watching the vid but I'll check it out.
Also, none of the M14's we used in Iraq were selective fire. Just needed to clear that up. Check out wikipedia, non of the M14s in the soldier pics are selective fire.

Then they weren't M14s -- they were M1As, or converted M21s.

Absolutely, if they misnamed them. They're similar in most all respects, outside of the firing modes, and the manual's probably there to provide a 'military' feel.

Hey, just saw this comment. The m14 is select fire, but many of them were converted to semi only during and after the Vietnam war, starting around the time the m16 was changed over to burst for the same reason, to conserve ammo, but are still m14's in either configuration. The m1a is just the civilian version, which has no provision for the selector switch even if the stock has the cut out. Mil surplus (most of which klinton burned up)that were so modded, could be returned to select, m1a's can't

Burst-fire M16s are completely different variants from other M16s with different firing modes, not conversions.

I was talking about m14's not m16 conversions. Whan I said the m16 was changed, i was referring to the full auto to burt fire change as in a1 to a2. I wasn't suggesting the m16 was converted at all.

i bealive its now called the m-4 carbine, 3 round burst or semi-auto. thats what my kid uses in iraq. very good weapon,along with 40mm grenade launcher.

Different weapon. It's a derivative, yes. It's safe/semi/full auto, though, unless it was modified or otherwise non-standard.

yeah i would prefer m1a1 over m-4 any day. but iv'e heard it said m-14 is to wild to control on full-auto. to me i would see it as a sniper rifle of a budjet constraint. m-4 is close quaters ,m-14 is a distance rifle. what do you think????

yeah its long range and 7.62 vs. 5.56 the m1a blows an m4 away. so much more knock down power. any way who needs full auto it only takes one shot to kill some one unless you're aim sucks. any way nice video i'm planning on getting one springfields are legendary for accuracy. i would prefer the m1 garand or m1903 but thaey don't make them anymore (long since decomissioned) but the m1a is still awesome

Unless you been over there then you dont know what your talkin bout. I agree that the 5.56 sucks but its because if you put one in their chest where we are trained to shoot, it aint gonna put them down. is the m14 a 7.62mm or a 308 win ive heard things like there the same thing and that there interchangeable and the 7.62 is a Russian round and its 2mm longer somebody help me

The 7.62x51 and the .308 win are NOT the same round. There are very small differences between the two, but if ignored the results could be bad. As a general rule, a rifle chambered for a NATO round (the 7.62x51) can fire that round as well as its calibrated version of the .308 win. However, the opposite is not true for rifles chambered for .308 win. My opinion would be to know what your rifle fires, and stick with that exclusively.

Correct. If you're interested in shooting both with 100% confidence though, I'd look for rifles designed to be fired with both, such as any rifle having a Wylde Chamber.

Not so much upgraded, just changed. It comes minus a selector switch which allows it to only fire semi-auto. Other than that the materials used don't really qualify as mil-spec, so they aren't as rugged as they once were. I'd still love to own one though!

Nice M1A! I'm looking at getting one once I get back to the States. I'd go for the scout with the 18" barrel too. Seems like a nice compromise. How are you finding it? Accurate enough at distance?
