This is documenting the making of a large scale sculpture. I assume the artist's message has something to do with the inevitable fall and decay of our civilization? That's what i got from it. Of course the eerie music playing helps convey that.
Ugh, I loathe pretentious artsy crap that pretentious artsy people only watch because its what they think sophisticated intellectuals should watch, understand and appreciate. They think so highly of themselves that they just can't make themselves enjoy the simple minded peasant movies that the rest of us watch. So they seek out garbage like this as their own gateway to their social circle. Only people like them enjoy this crap, because only they understand how deep and meaningful it is. *pukes*
@DrRockso99 how is this prententious artsy crap? Its a documentary about Anselm Kiefer, an artist who muses on cultural guilt. Whether or not your levels of sophistication agree with this type of film, your 'peasant' movies framework is entirely ridiculous. I enjoy both Herzog and Spielberg, the strength of a film lies in how it makes you feel; whether it be entertained, or enlightened. Calling this film 'artsy crap' without any knowledge of its subject matter is perfunctory and ignorant.
@SuperSimondw I'd rather call my analysis "cutting and objective without respect for the pseudo intellectual predisposition to withhold judgement". I loathe this sort of garbage, and I loathe the opinions of the so called "artists" who muse on cultural guilt, whatever the fuck that means. I'm of the opinion that a healthy disdain for pseudo intellectualism is not anti intellectual. In fact, I believe that the mark of a true intellect is willingness to speak reality in the face of groupthink.
Then he sells it for lots of money.
