  • I wish he still did stuff like this. Since he left his Virginia roots he's lost all soul. Still, at least he WAS great which is more than you can say for many of his contemporaries.

  • Αυτό το βίντεο έχει προστεθεί στα Αγαπημένα σας.

  • Forget the sex...listen to the music...and this is beautiful...Today in Portugal i'll follow this boy, and i'm not gay!! MUSIC ABOVE SEXUALITY!

  • @Aituss and the concert was very good ; )

  • @Pedro122ish - Beautiful concert...!! The crowd surf was amazing...I hold is harm!! :)

  • @Aituss yeh !! one of the best concert's of the night !!

  • I followed the swans like I follow my dreams~

  • this song and video is really one of my favourites (if you can rate Wolfs music in this way). he played it in Berlin some weeks ago...just beautiful art!

  • This album has such a unique style at the time and I wish Patrick could have harnessed that more in his later works, but it's understandable his style changed considering he is a real artist who evolves and isn't afraid to try new things.

  • After hearing this song the first time, I fell in love with him.

  • It gives me trills <33

  • such a young guy written this. i feel really jealous.

it's brilliant. i'm still listening to this since 2006.

  • One of the best songs ever written without a doubt.

  • awesome!

  • Patrick Wolf, marry meee!!!

  • this is my favourite patrick's song. i cry everytime i hear it. a bit pathetic...but yeah.i mustve heard it over 500 times...at least.

  • maybe his name should be patrick woolf.... ohh.. I made a nerd joke

  • @nilperos

    Hells yes!

  • i would definitely let him fuck me in the ass... as long as he was singing at the same time

  • Very atmospheric sound

  • wunderschön!

  • patrick truly is a genious.

  • It is fantastic and it is my favourite song. I willl remember it forewer.

  • My friend..

  • Does this song have any relevence to the book?

  • There are some references to it I think. The line "saw the spike of the railing..." could be about Septimus Smith killing himself?

  • That's Mrs Dalloway right? I've not read it but you could be right. Also the house collapsing line is like their summer house.

  • Can I just say that art22342334543 now thinks The Libertine is an amazing song.

    They all come around.

  • proof?

  • He's a friend of mine who I tried to get in to Patrick. I don't have any proof othe than a text, but I'll send him up this way next time we speak and get him to confirm it. :P

  • Fantastic

  • then why are you still here?

  • Why do most comments on Patrick Wolf videos seem to end up as arguments about his/their/your/my/her sexuality?

    Anyway. Lovely song, lovely video...

    Whatever Patrick Wolf is/isn't/was/will be...

what is definitely true is that he's an incredibly talented and super-wonderful guy.

  • have a cup of tea & a chocolate digestive.

    Well said.

    x

  • Art smells.

    Love Eilidh. =)

  • Art, you're just jealous cause you couldn't pull of blonde hair, and you know it. ;_;

and Roisin thinks you're stupid. :) HER WORDS.

  • Art just hates other people introducing him to music, he secretly has a shrine to Patrick. :)

  • This is outstanding, he's brilliant.

  • People need to post more Patrick Wolf videos of the songs off the earlier albums like this one.

  • I thought this was the only video from a first album song? And Wind in the Wires, the Libertine and Tristan are all up.

  • Yes I know, I remember them being released. I'm hardly a dumbass, you're the one that's interpreted what I said wrong.

  • fucking brilliant song, i love this album so much

  • Erm, who actually gives a shit if someone is gay? For fuck's sake, I can't believe people still argue about this. IT'S BEAUTIFUL MUSIC. That is that.

  • I totally agree with your view point, as I love this song, Patrick Wolf and everything he stands for, and hate homophobic bigots. I would just like to say though, that I feel that whilst it certainly does not matter if someone is gay, it is still part of their identity, and to completely ignore it is to overlook a part of them. So maybe for some people, knowing that he is bi or whatever helps their understanding of his work. That's just my opinion, sorry if it offends in any way.

  • No offence but gay guys are always the nicest and most understanding. I don't get it when a guy is called gay they filp. If they see the light side it means they better with women. Anyway of the point, it is amazing music and I think that we should all enjoy it.

  • Sorry but, you write in a manner that suggests you are not gay, so who are you to talk about homosexuality. Being gay is not the social norm and is therefore labelled wrong (NOT MY OPINION). Also what you say about gay men being good with women, its a ridiculous stereotype that needent be mentioned on a music video... almost like me saying that black men are more likely to go to jail but they can sure dance! (stupid stereotypes) I think you should take your own advice and just watch the video.

  • @VanillaAndBasil

    whos cares if he's gay?

i do! luckily for me, he is!

  • @VanillaAndBasil

totally agree, i really don´t care if a musican or singer is gay or not, the heck with it, im not gonna sleep with him, im only gonna listen to the music and is not my bussiness who sleeps with whom

  • @VanillaAndBasil

jea dude even if this statement itself is fucking senseless i have to agree ...

I mean people can do whatever they want to as long as nobody gets harmed.., why the hell should i place my preferences as universally valid and the only right thing to do ? .... thats fucking stupid ....

  • patrick wolf owns my heart

  • this song is love, so beautiful. makes me think of the boy...

    I miss him.

  • has anyone here seen paper house? a film made in the late 80s...

  • yes

  • for some reason every time i listen to this song it makes me think of it... to the light house my friend

  • My favourite song on the first album, could listen to it endlessly...

-and I also like the video : )

  • Yeah new stuff for 09!

    it was in NME today...

fans can pay £10 towards making this album amazing cos he says he has been thro some really tough times recently and wants to write these songs from the bottom of his heart....

i love patrick wolf he's just amazingg baby.....

    x

  • worst magazine dogg

  • how ??

  • I would LOVE to go into a lighthouse with this man. And I'm a straight guy. So I guess I'd go gay for patrick.

  • Lol, that's amazing. :D If I were a guy I'd go gay for Patrick Wolf too, lol. :)

  • you can't "go" gay, thats really offending.

  • Sorry if this sounds dumb, but, how is it offending? Just curious so don't take it the wrong way.

  • if you can "go gay" then you can "undue" being gay.

"going gay" is the radical Christian belief, that leads them on to trying to convert people out of homosexuality. Most people believe you don't have a choice on whether you're gay or not.

  • Oh, thanks for the info I didn't really know that. Sorry if I offended you or anyone.

  • I have been known to "go gay" every second sunday.

makes no sense, see? Being gay is not a choice, you are born gay or not. you don't make a choice. Do you think people would choose a life of ridicule, where they have to be afraid of being beaten to death for the love they want to share with another?.

  • Yes, rude concept 'to go gay' ,but isn't this song about that God awful Virginia Wolfe Stream of Consciousness B.S. "The Lighthouse"? That had a closeted lesbian in it? I could be wrong..but..that's what I thought of when I read the title. Suprisingly..this song is a ZILLION times more palatible than that damn storey..can you tell I loathed it? I have nightmares where the book is chasing me..saying 'Finnish reading me' & I chuck it in a fireplace defiantly saying ,"GOOD LORD NEVER! YOU SUCK!"

  • @KitsunegariBlu It's mostly about Mrs Dalloway, which is a work of pure art, so shh.

  • We are not necessarily born gay. Sexuality orientation can just as well be psychologically affected by the way we are brought up, the environment we are brought it.

It still doesn't make homosexuality a choice..

  • Yes, seeing as it's all down to chemical reactions in the brain I believe we can't truely know what makes someone have the sexual orientation they do, and equally we can't know for sure that certain events may impact upon this. Things aren't as simple as gay straight and bi after all, sexuality is a spectrum - like a rainbow.

  • am I right in thinking that 'to the lighthouse' is a book by virginia woolf?

  • Yes. In fact I am writing a paper on it right now. It was on time magazines 100 best English language books list. But frankly I dislike Wolf.

  • Wait, Wolf or Woolf?

  • Sorry typo, yeah Woolf.

  • You should read her book "Orlando: A Biography". It's a far cry better than "To the Lighthouse".

  • Orlando is very good. Mrs Dalloway is her most accessible fiction, I think.

  • Speaking of Mrs Dalloway, does anyone else think that the line "saw the spike of the railing from the 28/3rd floor" is a reference to Septimus Warren Smith?

  • I hadn't thought of that, but now that you mention in, I think it very well could be, seeing as he probably knows his Woolf. No pun intended.

  • Yes. I thought that too.

Favorite song by favorite artist about favorite author's book. I love it!

  • He's bisexual, so you're in luck!!! (He's also got a bit of "Beastiality" in 'im, too. So if you're a mare who got access to a laptop, lose hope not!)
