There is a class action lawsuit on these heaters--I bought two and one would keep messing up at the thermocouple unit, and then started leaking water. WOULD NOT recommend buying whirlpool as they are just rebadged American Water Heaters (they come w/ a color picture instruction page to diagnose and repair thermocouple units!
Thanks for the advise. The unit is brand new. I paid $200 to have it installed. It seems to be working now even with the bright yellow flame and water dripping everyday inside. Based on the 100's and hundreds of comments from other unhappy American Water Heater customers, I think this one will quite working, I will call for parts and have to pay once again for repair. .
the orange flame might be because of some condensation or you might need to check the orifice under the burner. there is no need to replace a heater for that....
Thanks Brent We have moved....to my surprise the heater worked fine. In our new home we have a Bradford White heater.

If this was at start up with cold water fill, it will drip like this. This is normal. When the tank water is hot, this will not occur.
