Yea, maybe Trish didn't have the wrestling skills to perform as well as the best Divas of early 00's, but she had other qualities. Her mic-skills were phenomenal, even better than Ivory's. And she improved her in-ring skills incredibly fast, in few years of training and wrestling, she could pull out a legendary Hardcore match with Victoria. Also her looks played a huge part - her international beauty made her appealing to any fan. 

Above all, she was marketable, and that was all WWE needed

LOL at the guy that compares the divas of today to Trish and Lita. Their both considered legends in WWE, even though they both retired so young. Their rivalry was the Rock/Austin for women. It's the only time anybody gave a shit about women's wrestling in WWE, to be honest with you. If you don't believe me, try watching a women's match now. The crowd is dead silent for everything, and the "popular" divas barely get any reaction. Women's wrestling in WWE died in 2006 when Trish and Lita retired.
