SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP, I bought a Marshall jcm 2000 dsl 50 about a year back and ive never been able to get that kind of Randy rhoads/ megadeth heavy metal tone and boost that i need for my solos and rythm playing, can anyone reccommend a awesome pedal?!?! thanks.
because i was thinking about swapping my jcm 2000 for a JVM 205h would that be a good idea?
3 oclock in the OD red modes is WAY too much gain. i play pretty heavy metal with the gain at 11 oclock which is plenty of gain. no one, playing any style should need more. after 11 oclock it just gets flubby
@rocknroll9225 Why? Maybe they like how it sounds that way and they can make it work, your opinion isn't the final word that's absolutely right no matter what, people have different tastes, no one should be telling anyone else that they shouldn't play this way or that way for any reason, I wonder care if you were James Hetfield, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, etc, I'll set MY amp however I damn well please.
@TheEternalLeader no need to get butthurt, dude. and i respect others' opinions just as much as the next guy (perhaps even more so). im simply pointing out the fact that, as a person who plays really heavy metal, i get uber saturated tones and cant imagine anyone needing more gain than i personally use. JVMs just have such a ridiculous amount of gain on tap that you can reach modern level of saturation as soon as 10:00. go ahead and set yours however you want, but im telling you that all you're
@rocknroll9225 Yeah, I can understand that and your opinion and there's nothing wrong with it, I wasn't trying to be a dick but I'm sure there are plenty of people who will really crank that gain because it sounds good to them or as I said have found a way to make it work, be it the kind of definition they want or retaining their mix spot. ( I've heard and seen people do this kind of stuff lol )
@rocknroll9225 The more you distort a sound the more prevalent it becomes in the mix, there are reasons to not over distort your sound and that ain't one.
I just bought a JVM205 head and will soon be buying a 1960a 4x12 cab. I need help of what cables ill need and what Ohms, mono, stereo etc to use!!!!!!!!
k Schmidt reviews, even though my German is only one word in about 3. Love the JVM I have the 410 head and it's been a keeper, sold my old DSL and Laney and just kept the JVM.
So many functions represented by 3 colours. just one question, if you set the preset on the amp, what does the colour coding (which represents the function) do?
hey guys if youre intrested in how this marshall sounds in our band SLAP DASH , you can check out our youtube channel and for more songs our myspace! we would be honored ! rock n' roll baby!
Hey, I would like to know if this head can create sounds like Chuck Schuldiner used to do with his Marshall Valvestate 8100? I would rather not buy a used Valvestate as they were discontinued a long time ago...Furthermore I don`t like to use any sort of boosting/distortion pedal. I hope somebody can help me;)
As good as this video is, it really doesn't do the amp justice. It took a couple of months before mine was "broken' in".... now the tone is unbelievable. The cleans sound DAMNED good and the gain/OD can go from very sweet and smooth to punchy/gritty. I freekn' love this amp...
@socccero Kommt darauf an welche! ;)

hey guys I bought one of these after trying it out on a line 6 4x12 and I loved the sound! Anyway the head is siiting in my bedroom because i haven't bought a cab yet, is it worth me getting the marshall 1960A which is a bit expensive for em, or should I get a line 6? It sounded great in the shop but do the lin 6 cabs sound good at gigging volume?
Also which would sound better the 150 watt cab or the 320 watt cab?
@GlamRockRuss - Neither, put the money towards a real nice 2x12! check out the 'Harley Benton G212 vintage' cheap as chips and comes with vintage 30's! google it.
fireball has a crisper clean and more low end gain channel. THis is more versatile for cruncy sounds but plenty of gain on tap for van halen, bodom sounds. I got a 215c and an engl fireball so i can compare.

Tipp: Seh die beiden Kanäle als eigenen Amp mit 3 Kanälen. Dann ist auch das Routing für Reverb, FX und Master leichter zu handeln.

Hey Dude,
I own the Fireball and the Marshall JVM205. THe Fireball is definitely more metal as it was designed with that purpose mainly.
The Marshall is a more all round amp hence the 6 different tone options amongst the two channels.
I like the Marshall because it gives you more options...it can still do metal but not as good as the ENGL.
If you're only after metal then go for the ENGL. If you want an all round package, try the Marshall.
