Great point on the bulking, i've been working out for 2 years and gained 15 kilograms of weight. my bodyfat has gone up from 11% to 15% but hey, it's still alot of muscle that i gained. Gonna start a dirty bulk soon.

Going further than that, they should try different training methodologies, supplement regiments, etc.. It could literally be a physiological experiment!

Next time maybe try bulking up to the day of Ramadan then let the fast do your cut for you. Either way having some excess fat before you start that fast should help minimize muscle loss.

I think you are either bulking (calorie plus) or you are cutting (calorie minus). There is no thing between those two.
