  • I use the african's best herbal oil but u have to use a lot to make sure each piece is moisturized and it's very lightweight

  • Aloe vera juice mixed w/ filtered water

  • i use conditioner, not a leave in, just some regular conditioner, in the morning i wake up and spritz wet my hair, like dripping wet then put on a conditioner, leave out or style

  • i have the same problem :( dont worry i guess its our hair lol we have to live with it

  • died u say that stuff is $3??? coz thats like no money at all!!

  • Try care free curl instant moisturizer..BABY SOFT HAIR! I use the whole line of care free curl and let me tell you..nothing makes my hair more soft, moveable, and just amazing. I tried EVERYTHING! This works..

  • ok so same problem here, but i use CAROL'S DAUGHTER.... all there products r amazing... i mean wow amazing. Get the hair milk, the tui brand shapoo and LEAVE IN conditioner, and the black vanilla conditioner. but if you dnt wanna spend your money on all this cause its expensive just get the tui leave in conditioner for what your trying to do...

P.S. washing your hair everyday will make it fall out. wash it every 2 weeks

  • nice healthy looking Fro!!!

  • some things that helped my hair to be soft is glycerin & water, also applying gel w/ a moisturizer on top. And using the shingling method on small sections.

  • ...oh yeah, i forgot to tell you that i use the same products to define my curls...and believe me, my curls POP with this frizz buster gel!!

    hope you like it!

  • ...I also use O.R.S. Olive Oil Cream sometimes with alitttle water mist (I use the little 2oz. spray bottle from walmart)...then I spray the Nature's Shine Oil (coconut and soy oils). My hair stays soft & I don't have to use the gel or spray every day either. I just mist alittle water on my hair so it wont draw up completely. It's great! By the way, I have the same issues & love the same things about my hair that you do...it's nice to see someone else love their hair the way I do!...lol

  • Hi! You & i have the same if not similar hair texture. I use an ALCOHOL FREE gel called "Fantasia Frizz Buster Straightening Gel". It's clear & the jar has a fuchsia colored top. I LOVE THIS GEL! It is NOTHING like the regular IC Fantasia gels at all. It does NOT dry my hair. Depending on your style, it will "slightly stretch" your curls (I change my hair style every week). For moisture & shine I use O.R.S. Nature's Shine in the purple & yellow bottle (all natural oils). Try It-YOU WILL LOVE IT!

  • lol u are

    cute but since

    u dont like

    movies from the

    80s your missing

    out dirty dancing is

    the ish! lol

  • What i use as a mosturizer is olive oil organic mousurizer it really works after i put that all up in my hair i but in some sheen spray then bed head, frizz control and straigghtener serum and it leaves ur curls nice and defined and ur hair shiny and no frizz! i have tight curly hair up to my shoulders or jaw i think and its really poofy so it looked really nicee without frizz and that i was able to see my curls!

  • you are so cute haha

  • Try a keratin treatment it worked for me.

  • I have that same problem (super tight curls) and i have tried the Kinky curly only to be disappointed. That stuff (like all products) does not work for some, but it is great if it does work for you. I will have to try that coconut milk now and i like the veg glycerin and water but my hair still shrinks up with water. Have you ever tried twistouts? I find that helps soo much! Let me know :)

  • A cheaper alternative to Kinky Curly is the Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioning Cream. Defines curls really nicely.

  • This product does have a lil mineral oil in it but it does not dry my hair out because it acts as a activator as has many other great ingediants in it. YOU WILL LOVE THIS PRODUCT, TRUST!

  • Okay I was having shrinkage issues a while back to as well. I have 4a/b type hair. My suggestion: after u wash/condition your hair, oil your scalp with unrefined shea butter mixed with oils, then apply Hawaiin Silky 14 in 1 Moisturing spray to your hair in sections. Plait your hair in sections as if u are trying to do a braid out. Go to sleep, wake up, take down and whala!!!!! Soft longated curly fro, no shrinkage.

  • You should try Kinky-Curly Curling Custard. It make your hair really soft and moisturized, elongates your curl, and it's all natural. The only downside is that it's kind of expensive, but a little goes a long way.

  • I think coconut milk will temporarily loosen the curl. It has the same effects as a texturizer, but temporary. The product will eventually wash/wear off. Also, Miss Jessies Curly Pudding or Kinky Curly Curling Custard might give you the results you're looking for. Hope that can help :)

  • texturizers do change your curl pattern...but you will no longer be "natural".

  • Whay texturizer-You still can maintain your hair on it's natural state. Don't texturize dear!

  • lol yes ma'am... sosoblessed1... me (dhille) there is luv2talkdeb and myroundhipz... all sisters

  • Use a vegetable glycerine and water mix! It really moisturizes

  • im faced with the same problem... not wanting to wetting my hair... kinky curly is great. however, your hair will draw up the next day.. but you will still have a curl. use it lightly or else it will look like a jeri curl=)

  • Baby your hair is beautiful.African beauty that we all love.

  • I don't know how deep you are into all natural products but Wild Growth Oil is a good product that will give you want you want. It can be found at Sallys. There is a new version in a yellow bottle that I have never used, so I am suggesting the white bottle. Little bottle but it should last a long time. Curl products, I don't like jheri curl products that are sprays, I like gels. Don't heap on too much. Put your stuff on in the order of water>moisturizer (jheri)>oil (WGO) HTH

  • thats how i want my hair just like that!!

  • Hello Sweetie! A trick that I noticed that works on my hair is to do the following: wash hair with moisturizing shampoo, or co-wash if you can--I can't--deep condition hair, use a creamy leave-in conditioner, and start braiding small individual braids but just the root of the hair. The curl remains without the density of compact curls. Use your favorite moisturizer and u r done! Slighty damp curls in morning to reactivate or apply a holding gel to give crisp look if that is what u want.

  • It works for me too!

  • Try applying Kinky-Curly Knot Today and Kinky-Curly Curling Custard to soaking wet hair or IC Fantasia gel...They work for me.

  • You mean just IC gel alone works?

  • I recommend creating a hot oil treament with a carrier oil like jojoba or grapeseed. Also a deep conditioner of mayo, egg and one of the carrier oils. I use mayo for 1 hour to 1 and half hour and the hot oil cover with a warm towel for thirty minutes. Then use the veggie glycerin and again in the am and see if this works. I have straw like hair when it's dry My coils loosened and were softer once my hair was moisturized and I can comb it! wet or dry and it doesn't snap or break

  • You have a hair type that is similar to mine, I use a shealoe mix that I make that moisturizes my hair and keeps it that way. But I hear that KKKC works on our hair type, so you may find what you are looking for in their products.

  • i have the similar "problem." my suggestion may not solve your dilemma 100%, but try it for a couple of nights and see how it at least helps. at night, i put conditioner and some essential oils on my hair; wear a plastic cap to bed, then wear my bonnet or scarf on top of that. in the a.m., i just wet my hands w/ some conditionera and run my hands through gently, so i don't frizz up my natural curls.

  • are you trying to sound like you're working on your masters? lol it's funny to hear you change your vernacular according to your topic. I bet you'r not even aware of it. lol

  • lol... thats funny... i didnt know i do that... butterrum... i still dont see it in this vid either... u'll have to tell me what u mean

  • Ur hair really reminds me of mine! :-)

    I suggest 2 things:

1)If u want 2 wear a wash n go that stays moisturized...purchase some hair butters!!! They are heavier and the most moisturizing for our hair type.

Trust, if ur hair is anything like mine, it will THANK u for it. Be sure 2 distribute it evenly (apply very generously 4 thick hair) and comb thru. You'll love it!

  • Cont'd from above:

    2) Do the "Curly Fro"!

I'm not sure if you've seen all those vids on YouTube showing this...but I think it's the best thing to do to achieve a fro and still lock in that moisture!

I know others suggested that u put twists in and take them out...but to me the curly fro is a little different. I hate doing tiny twists only to take all of those suckers right back out! W/ the curly fro you take huge chunks of hair...twist...& tuck.

Do a search on YT 4 "Curly Fro"!

  • Oh my goodness, your hair looks awesome. You have so much growth over a year's time and it's so beautifully thick. Congrats to you on your upcoming nappiversary! My nappiversary is coming up as well on October 25 (yeah, lol). It looks good, keep doin' what you're doin and like some others have said, try Amla and Olive Hair Cream or what I found to work for me is Shealoe (pure shea butter mixed with aloe vera gel, the kind from the health food store. This seems to do the trick for me.

  • i know your pain - i think we have sim textures. i sent a vid and my savior product is demonstrated...it keeps my damp hair soft and when i wake up i can redampen and add a little more and go!! and its cheap. hope this helps

  • that is a lot of growth for just one year. Well done. Have you got a regimen video posted.

  • I suggest unrefined shea butter and an excellent moisturizer like Qhemet Biologics Burdock Root Butter Creme or Alma and Olive Creme. It will make your hair super moist! They are not cheap but they are well worth it. There is absolutely no greasiness after your hair is dry. The only thing IMO that prevents shrinkage is stretching, twists, knots or braids. All of these will look great after the shea butter and Qhemet. Good Luck :)

  • Try Streatch Silkening Cream by Miss Jessie's. It will streatch your curls out a little and you won't have to shampoo on a daily basis.

  • Have you tried kinky curls

  • WHAT YOUR HAIR TYPE

  • I prefer to wet my hair and then follow with Carefree Curl Gold moisturizer and activator to loosen my curls. it is good for natural hair. I also use olive oil or an african herbal oil with the Carefree Curl moisturizer and when it dries my hair is still loose and light. If this does not work maybe you should try a curling custard. Good Luck!

  • aww right b4 my bday, we gone celebrate yo hair and and my bday on da 21st! im thinkin bout goin natural but im scurd, my hair is really soft 2 but i always get da feelin dat i need a perm even tho im black and native i still get perms every so many months. ok im gone cus dat was 2 much!!! but i love ur hair!

  • u think that.. but u dont... just all of a sudden one day stop getting a perm.... thats all... just dont get one

  • The only thing I can suggest is a twist out. Twist up at night, take out each morning, & you'll have the hair you want. And the bigger the twist, the looser the curl pattern will be, as you probably already know.
