I just read an article this morning saying that hte US Army dosen't want this system because it's to expensive but the pentagon and obama adminstration want this system.

Yes this is Youtube and clearly, MEADS seems to be a worthy and legitimate area air defense system development program, but let's please contain any approval one might have and not actually 'cheer on' a combative engagement against hypothetical air attacks. Have you tried MEADS against missiles painted with AR 1? Does it work well if a missile deployed chaff? I'm curious how well it works with cruise missiles that use radar as an altimeter and stay a little above tree tops. IRIS-T is an AA IR missile do you know if a green laser mounted on say a UAV could burn the sensor?

@kosiak10851 The fact that the United States stole someone else's idea is irrelevant, the only fact that matters is that the operational concept in question has been successfully applied to the battlefield, works and has been improved upon. A flexible, adaptable military is a survivable military and no technology or concept is proprietary. There was a reason the United States wanted German submarine and ballistic missile technology after World War 2; it was better than anything the US had.

someone needs to be putting out a new winning dog fight for nato European area and to full usaf/navy fight GAP before someone eles does, f-35 will not full the Air Dominance Fighter role,and if the f-22 can't do it for reasons NOT FULLY understood a, it's not as good as they said ? b, afride it will be copied? it would relax alot of people if it kicked butt at red flag soon?

I just read an article this morning saying that hte US Army dosen't want this system because it's to expensive but the pentagon and obama adminstration want this system.
even though this system cost 19 billion, it should be made because it will replace the patriot system which has been around since the 80s. I think the army is wrong for trying to turn down such a system.

I agree. It's unfortunately the wars only, which is forcing Army to cut good programs in order to fund battle damaged equipment and new bullets.
This will actually replace HAWK missile sys too, which is pretty old and irrelevant.
If anything Army should order extended range missile variants of the SM-6 class. In future Army will wish it had longer range sys, the usual workings of things.

I can't wait to see when MEADS shot down Russian T-50 PAK FA. lol. MEADS going replace PAC-3 in the future but PAC-3 batteries will be upgraded by MEADS. MEADS is joint military 3 nations from USA, Germany, & Italy. France was suppose to be part of the group but decide to withdraw. MEADS-US/NATO S-400 version. I think it would be cool it US combine Upgraded PAC-3, THAAD, & MEADS to one power SAM able to shot down enemy Satellite in Space it will be US/NATO version of S-500 available in 2015.

Yes this is Youtube and clearly, MEADS seems to be a worthy and legitimate area air defense system development program, but let's please contain any approval one might have and not actually 'cheer on' a combative engagement against hypothetical air attacks. I'm pretty sure MEADS partner countries themselves, US included, would not want to cheer on such actual confrontations. It is a defensive capability in development and one which is being handled responsibly, not as a video game. TY

MEADS can detect ballistic missiles, Nuclear Missiles, Helicopter, UAV aka Drones, Aircraft, & Stealth Aircraft. MEADS have UHF Surveillance Radar & X-Band Multifunction Fire Control Radar. MEADS will provide 360-degree protection to maneuver forces and key installations against ballistic missiles with a range of up to 1,000 km, cruise missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft.

Have you tried MEADS against missiles painted with AR 1? Does it work well if a missile deployed chaff? I'm curious how well it works with cruise missiles that use radar as an altimeter and stay a little above tree tops. IRIS-T is an AA IR missile do you know if a green laser mounted on say a UAV could burn the sensor?

Lockheed-Martin likes to wrap itself in the American flag. But the true Lockheed-Martin idea of courage and integrity is cutting off health insurance benefits to retirees after theyve retired with an earned benefit. (What are the retirees to do: retire from some other company? I dont think so!) Thats what the Lockheed-Martin concept of integrity is all about. Bet youll never hear about that on an LM ethics or recruiting video! Ill also bet they didnt cut off health benefits to ex-managers
